  1. Very nice job so far, and great job on the supports. The ride itself looks great with a good combination of drops and hills, although this coaster looks more like Fireball at Happy Valley than Boss. Great job so far, and can't wait to see the final design. Airtime - wow, I'm a dork &Gravity
  2. Looks good for the most part, but a few things: 1. Bank the turns on the Arrow coaster. Having flat turns in high speed areas is unrealistic and is painful to the riders. Flat turns should only be entering and leaving the station. 2. Fill in the areas around the rides with trees and flowers. It is simple, but it will help make your park realistic and better looking. This park has potential, so keep up the good work.
  3. For Boston - Dropkick Murphys
  4. I really like the changes, manages to look like the old one, while at the same time looking a lot sharper. The new forums look great, and they manage to keep the "basic" look I like about TPR. I'll have to get used to some of the changes, but I'm already starting to get a hang of it.
  5. ^, ^^Did you read the press release on why the park is closing? They are closing because they couldn't reach an agreement with those who own the land, not because of a lack of guests. Also, what is with people thinking that this was planned and that SFA is next?
  6. Well, this is a surprise, but at least I got to ride all the coasters with the exception of Roller Skater. For the problems it had, Kentucky Kingdom was still a nice park for the most part. Hopefully most of the rides can be relocated, as there are plenty of good rides there. Most of the rides should be able to be relocated, so hopefully they open up at the other Six Flags parks soon. I would love for the ferris wheel to come up to Great America along with Greezed Lightning (although the chance is 0%). I also see T2 going up to Great Escape.
  7. Wow, for being under six acres, there looks like a lot to do, and it looks like a great addition for the families who visit. Although, I still don't see how it is worth a separate admission.
  8. Someone's been playing a little too much RCT2. The layout looks good, although a little strange for this style coaster with a lift instead of a launch, and it should be a fun ride. While I see why they chose the theme of the trains, I have to say that the trains themselves look pretty bad IMO. Hopefully they look better on the ride and in action.
  9. ^Even though the County Fair Games was a pretty dead area, with the exception of the Wii area, I hope it is just a renovation. With the work that is being done on the Farmer's Market, the area could look pretty nice. Also, the shade structures going into Farmer's Market will be much appreciated on those hot Illinois days. Also, with Little Dipper going in to Bugs Bunny National Park, hopefully that area will become popular once again as that section was frequently closed due to a lack of guests. Hopefully, in addition to what we have seen already, Great America continues to improve and clean up the park like they have the past few years. Some of the buildings in Hometown Square and Orleans Place could use a fresh coat of paint if I remember correctly.
  10. 16/20 - not too bad, but certainly not my best score
  11. Wow, this height restriction is unnecessary and pointless. As said before, by the time they are tall enough, no kid is going to want to ride this, and especially when they've been riding the same coaster for years down at Disneyland. Also, what is the point of it as it is higher than all of the other roller skaters, even those at other Six Flags parks, or is there still a misunderstanding between the differences in height to ride alone or with someone? Edit: Also, to show how ridiculous this is, Dare Devil Dive here at Great America has a min height of: A). 54 inches B). 48 inches (like Magic Mountain) C). 42 inches with adult D). None of the above . . . . . . . . . . Correct, the answer is letter C.
  12. I should say that only the lift and drop were bought as the rest of the ride was a concrete channel. The ride was fun, and this should make a good addition to the park. While I still have no intention of visiting the park, it is still nice that the ride will still be not too far from the Chicago area.
  13. Interesting choice of theme and name, but it should help Magic Mountain as it really seems to be lacking in things for children and their parents to do. While I'd have rather seen a selection of flat rides built, I still see this as a sign of improvement for the park.
  14. USA Mt. Olympus Indiana Beach World's of Fun (campground/cabins) Knoebels (campground) Europe Heide Park Asia I think Chimelong Paradise has one Parque Espana
  15. I remember stumbling across this park on RCDB last year, and it is sad that its attendance is so low when in a city the size of Budapest. The park looks like a nice traditional park, and the carousal is beautiful. Sadly, with the exception of the spinning wild mouse, I don't see the rides being saved, which is sad since they look really good. Also, according to RCDB, the Schwarzkopf has already been removed.
  16. Wow, those pictures are amazing. The colors, timing, and zoom really do a good job of showing off the rides. Also, what kind of camera did you use?
  17. Great trip report, and it sounds like you have a lot of the opinions of the park that I do. Shivering Timbers is awesome, and for some reason, Wolverine Wildcat is incredibly smooth. Although, unlike my visit, the park looks like it was dead when you went, and even though a packed Michigan's Adventure isn't that bad, you can tell it doesn't handle crowds well. Again, great trip report and photos, and it just reminds me to try to make another visit up to it this year. Airtime - although, MA really needs some larger rides - &Gravity
  18. Maybe this could become a thread for any coasters that aren't worth it. Here is a coaster that appears to be a cross between a Chance toboggan and the Togo looping wild mouse. Link
  19. ^^Wait, so the incident at Coney Beach wasn't a one time occurrence? Maybe you just shouldn't let John near when you ride a kiddie coaster...in fact, don't let him near any coaster until he gets a new camera. I'm not that big of a credit whore, but I would probably ride that coaster. While I don't ride every kiddie coaster I come across, I would probably ride that one just because it looks like it will fall apart. Plus, as said earlier, it's only a four foot fall, so what's the worst that could happen?
  20. The coupon book comes with coupons for reduced combo meal prices, flash pass discounts, and discounts at park stores on certain days. The food and merchandise discounts are good if you plan to eat/buy souvenirs in the park, and the Flash Pass has a discount of like $10. If you plan to use these coupons, get it at SFSTL, but if not, go with SFKK. Although, you might not have a choice as you have to get the season pass for the park closest to you. Edit: Actually, you can only use the coupon book at the park you got it at. So you would only be able to use the SFSTL book at SFSTL. If you are going to SFSTL the most, get the book if you can, but otherwise, stick with SFKK. Edit 2: Actually, I got confused on having to get your season pass at the closest park. I think that came from if you ordered your season pass online from the Black Friday specials.
  21. Grow Up - Simple Plan
  22. Nice photos and report of Wild Adventures. While not a great park, it still loks like it'd be a nice place to visit. Also, how does Wild Adventures even stay open? I know it is Janurary, but whenever I see a trip report of the place, which is rare, the park is empty. Although, I don't see why it gets all the criticism that it does as it looks like a nice park. Sure they'll take Vekoma over Intamin, but for a fairly new park, it has an impresive ride selection. Nice pictures of NYC and Washington DC too.
  23. With Shapiro visiting parks that cater well to both families and thrill seekers, we should see the parks continue to improve in even greater ways than they already have. Also, the "big skillet" idea is great. I'd love to see some in Southwest Territory or Yukon Territory at Great America. Link
  24. I wonder what this will do for the proposed Legoland in Illinois. Nothing was finalized yet, but a tax-free incentive was sent to the state. If that gets approved, we might have two Legolands being built soon. I'm still really unsure about this park though. The park is far from the Orlando area, and given the parks track record, I don't see a park surviving there. Even if it was the size of Legoland Windsor, there just doesn't seem like enough to draw guests away from Orlando. The brand might be good, but if there is nothing else to really draw guests there, then the park will fail as has been seen with Freestyle Music Park. Basically, you can't build a major park on the site of another failed park and expect a different result. The first park failed for a reason, a lack of guests, and the same will probably happen if it is built here. They would be much better off by purchasing some land in the Orlando area. While they would be closer to the competition, they would be where everyone was. If it was in Orlando, people might be more inclined to visit rather than drive out to the middle of nowhere to visit it.
  25. While it would be nice if there was another park in the Chicago area, I would never visit this park even if it did some how open. The whole idea is completely laughable, and while you might like the Michael Jackson, (and those in Gary sure do), that does not mean it is a good idea to build an entertainment district dedicated to him. The whole project has failure written all over it. Even if on some outside chance that this does get built, I'll still easily take Michigan's Adventure or Indiana Beach over this idea. Maybe we can get a Blues Brothers park built in Joliet. Airtime - who was driving through Gary shortly after Michael Jackson died - &Gravity
