Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "Rust" marks on Kumba are from the grease they use on the coasters lift, wheels, and anti-rollbacks. As the train goes along the track, especially after it has just been greased, the grease is deposited along the spine and ties of the track. When it rains, the grease then gets wet and drips from the track leaving those marks. Montu doesn't have this problem because it's inverted and the grease, instead of falling on to the track, can fall onto the riders. Happened to me on Batman: The Ride at SFGAdv after riding it when it had just rained, ruined a new white shirt. -
Your longest hiatus from riding a coaster?

From '95 when I rode Scorpion (5 years old) until around... '97 when I rode Python. -

Nice layout, but lots of pumps and some of the banking was wrong. Also the support on the first drop goes through the track rail. Clearance issues throughout the ride with supports and trees. I'd suggest going though and doing the tunnel test. -

Haha, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"... this was my favorite book while I was a kid. Hope this turns out awesome. -

Blah. I think this may be the most hideous thing along I-4... except for maybe the Altamonte Eyesore. The Altamonte Eyesore: There is nothing inside the building. The rest of the glass for the building was donated to them by some condo developers across the lake so it wouldn't look so hideous. It's actually going to be headquarters for "The Super Channel" and is only getting funding through donations... been under construction for years. But yeah.. back on topic. Why would anyone pay any amount of money to ride this? Orlando is not scenic at all... we're just a big swamp that Disney decided to build upon. -

Nice to see the SCAD tower (Terminal Velocity) again. I miss that thing. Did it on the TPR Midwest Trip. -
I knew someone that went on the Midwest Trip that didn't ride all the coasters. They did end up riding Top Thrill Dragster though and loved it... later regretting that they didn't ride some of the other coasters. Kingda Ka looks really scary, I've ridden tons of coasters and I was still EXTREMELY nervous to ride this one... waiting to launch is also one of the worst parts. But when it takes off and you're heading down the track, the wind blowing in your face, it's exhilarating. The drop is nothing, the twist on the drop makes it more mild than if it were just a straight, vertical drop. As for Griffon, it isn't that bad either. I went to Busch Gardens Africa two years ago with my senior class. My friend Jay was TERRIFIED of coasters. We got him on Python (RIP) and he was still a little iffy about the bigger rides. We then got him on Scorpion and he said that was enough for him. Later, right as we were heading out of the park from Kumba, we decided to get one more ride on SheiKra. He decided to do it. He got on and was shaking while going up the lift (We were in the front row even). I told him to relax, stay calm, and not to tense up, just let the ride do what it does. He held on during the first part of the ride up until the Midcourse. Then he did something none of us expected.. he put his hands up. The rest of the ride they were raised up and he was yelling in joy. He absolutely loved it. We had time to ride once more and he was all for it. Rides only really look scary, but once you've ridden it, you'll be fine and 90% of the time, you'll wanna jump right back on. I only say 90% of the time, because rides like Great American Scream Machine at SFGAdv... if you get the blue train, you won't want to ride it again.

Great trip report! I've always wanted to go to one of these German Fairs, they look incredible. Maybe my friend will stop by one, she is in Germany after all... but she's there for the Metal Festival, Wakken... or something like that. I find it amazing that there are no barriers to keep people away from the ride, especially with how fast they travel. And at a fair that houses mostly drunk Germans. Too many stupid people in America to pull that kind of thing. -

Midwest represent! Just thought I'd throw that in there -
I'm in Beta, it's pretty awesome. I can't wait until it launches and we get a plethora of new players.

I love my PS3 and wouldn't get rid of it. A few months ago I felt differently though. Last year there were hardly any games out for the system. Motorstorm and Resistance were the top PS3 Exclusive games that were out. The past half year I've gotten many games that I'm happy with on the PS3. I much prefer Warhawk to Halo. The addition of Resistance 2, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Little Big Planet, God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet And Clank: Quest For Booty, Tekken 6, Time Crisis 4, Twisted Metal, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and Playstation Home will bring a lot to this Console. The ability to put DivX movies on a Portable HD and plug it into your PS3, then watch it is wonderful. Blu-Ray won, HD-DVD is dead. Blu-Ray plus video games and an all around media center that hasn't had any problems since November 2006!? I say yes.

Nintendo really Disappointed. Will probably end up getting Animal Crossing... and if/when they release, Pickman, Zelda and the new New Super Mario Bros. Sony didn't. I'm excited for Rock Band 2, Resistance 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Resident Evil 5, and mostly excited for the MMO, DC Universe. They also have some killer looking games for PSN. Fat Princess anyone? I could care less about 360 and it's Halo: Wars (Most over-rated series ever) PC has Spore coming out, which will be excellent. As well as Diablo 3* (HELL YEAH!) and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King*. Overall, E3 was "Meh" this year... but some of the games look very promising. *I know these games weren't shown at E3.

Vekoma's new train designs

Mega coasters don't always mean "Hyper coaster"... there are mega-looping coasters out there. Just think of a Vekoma coaster the size of something like Kumba... that's a mega coaster to me. New trains look great -

You may want to work on the banking a little bit. In the back row the G's spiked into the red. Good coaster though. -
