  1. Anyone else find it funny the waterpark has the same name as SFNE's shoot-the-chutes? (Shipwreck Falls) Way to be original... At least the place will have a theme.
  2. That would be awesome. My brother went to the "311 Day" concert in Memphis and the arena literally overlooked the Zippin Pippin. He said the ride still looked like it was in decent shape and it was a shame the whole place was so dormant...
  3. When I first started seeing construction photos I thought "no way will this coaster have a lift hill/drop" as it looked like it would be a ground-hugging launched coaster. While much of this is true, the lift/drop were a complete surprise to me so even though it's not very tall, it's more than I expected overall to be honest with you.
  4. Wildwood's The Great White comes to mind where all you see directly out in front of you is the Atlantic ocean. The Great Nor Easter (SLC) has an equally good view, maybe better since there's no floor or evac stairs.
  5. I'm sure there will be some kind of little game played this year based on the success of last year's Terra Queen riddle thing... Little things like that are what put HHN miles ahead of HOS in my opinion.
  6. Thanks for the update, that last photo is especially nice with the reflection of the lift...err.. launch.
  7. I have always flown by Southwest because of it's good rates. The only time I've flown any other airline (United) was to get to boot camp in South Carolina in 2001. You gotta love the leather seats for such a good price...
  8. Roger Waters at the Tweeter Center two weeks ago for the Dark Side of the Moon tour. Simply put - a religious exprience. Aerosmith and Motley Crue next week!
  9. The only Stephen King books I've read are IT and The Green Mile and to this day they're still two of my favorites. For those who like the band Pink Floyd, or even rock music in general, I must reccomend "Saucerful Of Secrets" I'm about halfway done and it's just awesome so far.
  10. I have an ipod mini, what is it like? It's like... old.
  11. While I don't condone gun violence, making guns completely illegal would just mean more people would be killed by a knife instead. I can't believe I haven't heard about this on the news yet, there still yammering on about Dubya.
  12. Either you have a real nice camera or they've given Apollo some love since last time I saw it.
  13. The cockroach is free?? Sign me up! Seriously though, that's a pretty good idea, I guess. I doubt there will be many people trying this.
  14. If you get a chance to ride the skilift, even though it is faster to walk, do so! It's cool to watch the riders zoom by on the slides below you. I didn't even see the gondola you guys are talking about either time I went. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled in a couple weeks when I go back.
  15. ^ That's what I'm looking for! So are there any geisterbahns out there that really stand out quality-wise? They're all very impressive by their size and facades but are there any good ones in particular? Most of the ones in the US aren't kept up too well and are genrally not very scary...
  16. If you're asking about the "dip" during the pre-lift curve, I would assume it is just cheaper to design the track to use gravity to bring the train to the lift rather than kicker wheels, just more machinery to maintain. A lot of wooden coasters have these as well.
  17. We need no soldiers? Of course we do! While I too disagree with many of Bush's polices (and I'm a US Marine...) of course you need the armed forces for defense!
  18. Too bad the dark ride is so ghetto... there's not nearly enough quality "traditional" dark rides out there. My favorite is definately Stillwalk Manor at Seaside Heights NJ (Casino Pier) It's tradional in that it's a tiny 2 seater car but has the special effects and tricks of a high end theme park.
  19. No line for Alpengeist? Ooooo... Glad to see you had a great time, and were able to take some nice photos. I love the eagle exhibit they have there.
  20. More details here... http://www.projo.com/ri/westwarwick/content/projo_20060907_ww7talk.32702d3.html SHIPWRECK FALLS *9 Body Slides *1 Family Raft Ride *Wave Pool *Lazy River Construction is scheduled for next Spring with a 2009 opening so it's definately just still in the works... There's already neightbors whining about it but there seems to be just as many people interested in the boost it will give the local economy. Suck it up Rhode Islanders! We need some kind of thrill park, there's enough churches and antique shops to keep everyone else busy!
  21. Looks very cool, and if it comes out like the concept art shows... classy and nowhere near gaudy. Keep us posted on any further developments. From the sound of things it doesn't look like the park will have any "dry" rides at least not in its first phase.
  22. Oooo, I love RCT parks with a storyline! It's coming along great.
  23. Can't believe I've gone this long without finally checking the comics out, pretty creative stuff, good work! Won't be too long until the Alveys have their own action figures, hehe.
  24. Looked like a fun little place, kind of reminds me of Old Orchard Beach's little park up here in Maine. You covered the dark ride but I noticed a sign that said Fun House. Did the park have some kind of walk-thru attraction? Do you have any other photos of the dark ride?
  25. I notice a lot of coasters have u-turns not just B&Ms. B&Ms just seem to have more of a steep banking like Nitro for example. But yeah, definately reandom.
