  1. This week I had an AMAZING visit to Disneyland Paris. I got a great deal on a Compass club room at Newport Bay, this was my first time staying in a club level room and I thought it was great, especially the lounge where I could order drinks from the bar without having to wait for a table The park was looking fantastic in it's 30th anniversary decorations and the renovated castle looked beautiful. The park is currently killing it with the entertainment, they are running the anniversary parade 4 times a day, the stars on parade, jungle book show, Disney D-light preshow, Illuminations and Disney D-light post-show. The small anniversary nighttime show was absolutely fantastic, great use of drones displaying the anniversary logo above the castle. People seemed very impressed even gasping when the drones first appeared. You are no longer required to use a facemask anywhere on Disney property, it was great seeing people smiling and enjoying their vacation again. I also had a look inside the renovated Hotel New York Art of Marvel and it looks stunning! The entire resort had a great vibe to it this time, both castmembers and guests seemed very enthusiastic and happy, and the park is still working on refurbishing everything, fantasyland is slowly getting resurfaced with beautiful new cobblestones, the new permanent security buildings is looking great, Avengers campus is coming along nicely, they have started work on the new frozen area and lake in the studios, and Disney Village is getting completely redone in the near future apparently. Oh and the redone Cars Road Trip tram tour is a vast improvement over what it was like before. And you can get Dole Whip now at Disneyland Paris Can't wait to return later this year to check out Avengers Campus

  2. I know that while Kraken’s new colors have been mostly well-received, some have criticized that the trains weren’t updated. Seems that as they rotate the trains out for annual refurb they are taking care of that!

  5. So with Corona still running rampant in Korea, and some of the parks still having reservation policies on rides that sell out instantly, my family and I have taken to checking out some of the smaller pay per ride parks that are littered around the edges of the country while also enjoying the ocean views and fresh sea-food restaurants that are there. It's been something I wanted to do for a while because these parks change rides so often that you never quite know what you're going to find there so it made sense to use 2021-22 to check out these less crowded places. The first TR is My Land located on the island of Wolmi, not too far from the international airport. This area is quite popular not being too far from Seoul and the China Town area for people who want a breather away from the city. The locals seem to realize this because on my way to the park in my car, every old lady was trying to wave me down to park at their restaurant for $2 all-day parking. Honestly, this park was a little weird both for the rides and the systems, it seems to mostly be owned by the same company since looking back at the park on street view the rides constantly change areas, but there were quite a few separate ticket booths so you had to first find the booth and buy a ticket for a specific ride at that booth even though prices were the same. The rides weren't exactly made by well known companies either and cycles could be really short, and though we found some nicer parks later that my son really enjoyed, I'm featuring this park first since it was probably the biggest out of all the parks we visited and for reasons you'll see later. Welcome to My Land. So straight away, you may have noticed something strange about this park. This parks claim to fame is apparently that it's Pirate ships swing up to 110 degrees when you ride them. This first Pirate Ship definitely tries to compete with the others by offering a pretty high swing. I keep saying Pirate Ship but I should be more culturally sensitive. In Korea, they've nearly always called Viking. Remember this if you ever visit, it's on the immigration test. Unlike most rides, this one had it's own ticket booth and sits on it's own outside of the park. I have no proof of this but since this one is named just Viking and sits outside of the park I've made up my own head canon that this was here first before all the others and has refused to move out as bigger and newer rides come in. It's the Carl Fredricksen of Viking rides and since I'm pretty sure no one else is going to trek out here to visit the park or do a TR, no-one can prove otherwise. Although it wasn't running too crazy on my visit, this ride does definitely swing pretty far, to match the posters claims. Onto the main area of the park and there's one of these that can be seen at a lot of carnivals but are actually pretty uncommon here in Korea. However, one thing that is common in Korea are the Tagadas/Disco Pang Pang. These things always attract a crowd, both of riders and people who like to watch people get tortured. This one came with a DJ who would pick on certain riders. They especially like to pick on foreigners. I was a coward and didn't want to ride. If I want to get ridiculed in front of a bunch of Korean's, I'd just go teach one of my classes. So why am I bumping this park's TR to today? It's election day in Korea which means interviews with AI's of previous/dead/imprisioned president's but the one that seems to make the international news is the election results full of the most random CGI situations. Previous elections had candidates on the roller-coaster T Express, duking it out Mad Max style or racing on a ski slope and this park popped up today as one of the graphics. I've instantly dated this TR! I feel like more people would watch the elections if they could watch Trump and Biden enjoy some rides together or duke it out Mad Max style as the results came in. It also seems like the US election in that a lot of people aren't too fond of either candidate. My favorite part is the minor candidates don't even get to ride, they just get CGI'd into observers on the other ride's platform. I wasn't kidding about Mad Max being one of the ways to announce election results. Let's move on, this park also has one of those frog hopper type rides, but it didn't seem too popular. On to the second viking. This one is different from the other one in that it's bigger. If that wasn't clear enough, it's also called Super Viking. I bet your wondering why the park would have two vikings but only one tagada... well don't worry the park balanced it out with a second tagada 50m from the first one. Next is another swinging ride. The park used to have an actual Huss Frisbee called Hurricane, but decided to replace it with this 90 degree swinging ride named.... Hurricane. This one had carnival levels of spin on the actual disc and could be pretty nauseating. There was also a merry-go-round at the park but I completely forgot to take a picture of it, so this is the closest thing for a park index photo. Rounding out the middle area is the chair swings. and one of those old simulators with gull wing doors that still live on in RCT. There was also this drop tower, that operated with a counter-weight and pulley from an unknown manufacturer. Fun Fact: Have you ever ridden a drop tower and wondered, what would happen if the tower didn't actually stop at the bottom? Happened on this ride. There's a 3rd viking, just in case the non-existent crowds at the other two make the lines too long. This one is called Eagle Viking. It's not tall or has a crazy swing like the others, so I guess it's just there for the people who really enjoy riding Pirate Ships but are disappointing there just isn't enough Eagle theming on them. The newest ride to the park was Mega Swing 360. This thing really lived up to it's name. In that on the day of my visit, you did literally a 360 swing and then the power got cut. Not just in terms of the swing but even the pendulum spinning or brakes. The disc starts spinning, you rotate back and forth a couple of times and do the 360 degree swing.... and then the disc locks into place, drop back to 90 degrees and you swing very slowly back and forth for the next 2 minutes until the ride stops wondering WTF just happened. Watching on YouTube, it doesn't seem to be the usual cycle but it definitely was the one given to all riders on the day I visited. Maybe it was a good thing, because the ride also seemed to be a knock off and required an over the shoulder seat belt that was put on after and over the restraints. I bet you're wondering, why does this park have only two Tagadas but 3 Vikings? Well don't worry because this new area of the park (that used to be the car park) also comes with a 3rd Tagada. This is that new area, they also moved the ejection seat from the main area of the park over to the side here. As you can see this park, is very big on its swinging rides. You can get an idea of the size of the park here. They really cram all of it into a very small space. Squid Game cash-ins were extremely common in the area. These used to be only a dollar but with popularity exploding, they were selling all alone the ocean front for $3-5. While at My Land they had adverts for their sister park only 400m down the road. After 3 Viking's and 3 Tagada's, and being so close to the other park I'm sure there'll be completely different rides to experience.... right?

  6. Awesome selection of food and beverages at Raglan Road. Thanks for sharing (and eating/drinking/sharing) all of it, Adam.

  7. It's going to be quite something to see, when that Cars Road Trip fence comes down (if it does in fact come down), and waaaaaay in the distance, you see Arendelle! Thanks for the great update! EDIT to add: Of course, Disney Parks are known for the Instant Forests they've grown and planted along with the attraction, etc. So ..... they may still block the view of "Arendelle" (and the lake) with more trees around that section of Road Trip, that can see it all. Could happen.

  8. Groups you could potentially hit. Eastern PA. Hershey, Knoebels, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags America. And if driving could work your way down to Kings Dominion and Bush Gardens before heading back. Ohio: Kings Island, Cedar Point, maybe Kennywood and Waldameer Texas: Sea World and Fiesta in San Antonio, Over Texas in Dallas. Will be hot. California: Sea World SD, Magic Mountain, Knotts VA: Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, Six Flags America Spirit flights in ATL can be super cheap at times.

  9. Went to the park yesterday. As it was super cold (for Georgia) this weekend, the water rides were all closed. Got my little guy on Twisted Cyclone and Ninja / Blue Hawk for the first time. I didn't know he knew that many cuss words He really liked them. Park looked good, most rides were open, but with one train operations which slowed things down. Food service was very very slow as usual, so that was the only real downside to the day. We managed to ride Twisted Cyclone, Blue Hawk, Justice League and the Sky Screamer as well as getting food. We would have done more, but the 6 year old has the attention span of a gnat so we spent a lot of time wandering around and looking at the geese (he's kind of obsessed.) I still don't understand how we can be somewhere with roller coasters and rides, and my kid will want to play on the playground It is a mystery

  11. Yesterday Theme Park Review was invited to Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant for a preview of this year's Raglan Road Mighty St. Patrick's Festival! During this experience we had a chance to take in the tastes, sights and sounds of Raglan Road's special offerings for this event as well as some unique new offerings that could be coming to their menu later this year. The Might Festival runs from Friday, March 11th through Thursday, March 17th and some of the items we experienced will be offered at Raglan Road in the weeks to follow. It is no secret that Raglan Road is one of my favorite places in all of Disney Springs. Inside of Raglan Road you can experience performances by authentic Irish and Celtic bands. You also can experience authentic Irish step-dancing up close while dining. There is no bad location within the restaurant as the performers move throughout the restaurant during the day to entertain each of the rooms. And there is entertainment for the outdoor seating areas as well! We had a chance to hear from one of the two owners of Raglan Road, who introduced a special Strawberry & Lime Seltzer called So Berry Les, a tribute to his father who is pictured on the bottle and in photos throughout the restaurant. Raglan Road is a fantastic place to enjoy drinks of all types. In addition to the So Berry Les seltzer which was delicious, we tried the new "Paddy's Mighty" composed of Dingle Gin, muddled cucumber, basil simple, lemon juice & egg white. It was smooth and super refreshing! This drink will be offered during The Mighty Festival but could become a longterm addition to the menu if it proves popular with guests. The "Now You're Talkin' Chicken Sandwich" has been on the Raglan menu for a few weeks. While ours was a sampler size, the flavors were fantastic and we all were left craving seconds. The sandwich includes a fried buttermilk chicken breast, hot sauce, scallions, shredded pickle slaw, truffle aioli and grated parmesan. My personal favorite of the flavors we sampled from The Mighty Festival menu, this Smoked Pulled Brisket was insanely good. Served atop Irish buttermilk and Dubliner cheddar cheese bread with caramelized onion puree and charred sweetcorn salsa, this bite melted in our mouths. And we were lucky enough to each get a second bite which was equally as incredible. "The Salmon Who Salsas" is a Roasted Atlantic Salmon filet on boxty potato & celery root puree served with a smoked salmon, apple, grape, caper & almond salsa. Salmon lovers will be pleased. The celery root puree made the bite for me. A recent addition to the year-round Raglan menu is "This Shepherd Went Vegan" which is the vegan version of their classic Shepherd's Pie. I'm a huge fan of the meat-filled version and I will say that this version stands on its own as hearty and flavorful. Vegans and those in the mood for a veggie-heavy dish will be happy all the same. While Magners is accessible in many restaurants, its Pear Cider is not commonly found on tap--but at Raglan Road it is! We were surprised with a savory donut featuring brisket and a parmesan icing. It was unreal. And while we were confident that that last bite would have been the best of the evening, we were spoiled with a second savory donut, this one with chicken, bacon and cheese with a Guinness glaze. The Raglan Road step-dancers move throughout the restaurant to make sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy their unique style of dance up close. But back on the main hall is definitely where the experience is best enjoyed! Raglan Road dancers certainly know how to get some air! I love the main hall of Raglan Road! If you're not able to dine in Raglan Road Pub & Restaurant but you still want some delicious Irish fare, you can stop by Cookes of Dublin (sporting a great new sign out front). We had a fantastic taste of this year's Raglan Road Mighty Festival and you can too between now and March 17th! And if you can't make it out for the Festival, the regular Raglan Road experience is no less Mighty, and is well worth your visit!

  12. Never understood the vitriol towards Pepsi as if it just killed your entire family. No beer, but I did get two rides on one of the best Log Flumes out there and one ride is worth at least a 6 pack. You can never have too much pepperoni!

  14. I mean if want to talk 'complete' Sorry, not sorry. I'm excited for what 2022 will bring though. Now that we've heard a bit more from the new management structure it sounds like effort is being made to elevate the chain - even food.

  15. You guys can criticize me all you want, but it doesn't make me any less wrong. In the last five years alone, five attractions were removed in the main park, and one of those was just half removed and looks awful. In the last 5 years, we have gained three rides in the main park. Three. Just three. That's a net loss of two full rides. And one of them was delayed for two full years while literally every other park had their ride open in 2021. What the chain is doing for the park is literally the bare minimum. I'm supposed to appreciate the bare minimum? That's like going to a franchised steak house that calls itself the best steakhouse in Missouri, ordering a moderately priced steak and they give you a plate that had a thin steak that's mostly all bone. Would you send it back and demand something better, or would you accept the moderately priced steak and just say "well the cooks tried their best, its okay". That's literally what most of you sound like. Anyone remember our 50th park anniversary? What a dismal display. Some fireworks, some dippin dots, and a pin, I seem to recall many of you being disappointed in what we got for that. That disappointment is what us hardcore fans have felt for the last 10 years I dont care if you like me or hate me, although it's pretty obvious it's the latter. But good lord, it is not too much to ask for the chain to do more than the bare minimum, which they havent even done that sad to say.

  17. I have a decent job with good pay, so no, I won't drive 10 hours to visit Six Flags St. Louis. I'll fly and rent a car. not only do I have good friends that live in St. Louis (I'm flying to St. Louis in May, actually to visit with one of them, and we're going to hit several parks on our way to King's Island), but St. Louis also has: An absolutely *incredible* zoo A pretty amazing Museum of Fine Art (just up the hill you can walk to from the zoo) City Museum (which is worth a visit to St. Louis on it's own) Grant's Farm (that has FREE BEER samples) and that's not even looking at the Arch, or the historical sites near it. oh. .and yeah, a pretty decent Six Flags there too. so sorry, all I hear is whining and complaining.

  18. This is their alternative. Your phone would also just die in that line and Apple would announce 2 newer versions of your phone anyway by the time you got your Flash Pass.

  19. If the appearance is maintained, then I don't see why there would be any harm in replacing faux track with the real thing! Would be good, like Universal did with Hulk's new entrance. At a minimum I would expect them to chop up the old track and sell it online, whether that be in the form of whole track sections or pieces of the running rail - Pleasure Beach have shown there is demand for it with the Big One. I know what I would rather own though, haha.
