  1. Thanks @joelwee, @Nrthwnd, and @coneyislandchris for the extra tips. I fly out tomorrow, so I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.

  2. Whoa whoa, no...not like 'every other coaster'. Unless every other coaster is Dragster, Deja Vu, Hang Time...

  3. Or perhaps with maintenance schedules, they had to pull the 2nd train for rehab. They completely disassemble them each off season, and with only a 3 month off season now, I guess they have to pick between 1 train in the winter when there is low attendance, or 1 train in the spring with much higher attendance.

  4. Well, f me. Looks like the new coaster is Lake Winnie's old Wild Mouse (best Wild Mouse out there imo) Excited for the coaster to stay local, but man, this feels wrong. Photos from r/rollercoasters

  5. Please consult a medical professional about this. Riding a flying coaster (due to the riding position) does not sound like a good idea. Yes, there will be some pressure on your abdomen from the restraints, the amount depends on your dimensions. The pretzel loops on the B&Ms provide a very intense sensation and I don't know if that will trigger a reaction in you.

  6. Media Night at WinterFest When last we left Kings Dominion, evil boogie-boogie eyes glared at guests from the top of the Eiffel Tower, and the forces of Darkness held sway. But on Friday, December 3, the tower sported brightly colored, ever-changing lights, and the air was filled with the sounds of Christmas music and the smell of gingerbread. Yes, it’s time for WinterFest, the park’s annual holiday celebration. Kings Dominion invited Theme Park Review to experience WinterFest Media Night last Friday. The center piece, of course, was the Eiffel Tower, which was lit up like an enormous Christmas tree. The pool in front of the tower became a skating rink named Snowflake Lake, and all of International Street offered all sorts of holiday cheer, drinks, shows, and food. In fact, the entire park, with the exception of Safari Village, was open and decked out for the holidays. There were quite a few rides running, as well, including Dominator and Twisted Timbers. What was new for 2021 was the WinterFest Wonderland Parade, which starts in Candy Apple Grove and swings by the front of the Eiffel Tower. The parade features all the characters wandering around the park that evening, including Scrooge and Company from Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” and the big man himself, Santa Claus. It’s a nice way to finish your evening at WinterFest. Prepare to be jolly! Or maybe merry. Possibly tickled. Santa and his sleigh welcome all to WinterFest. Busch Gardens isn’t the only park that has a tree with big balls. Scrooge, Marley, and the Ghosts of Christmas Present and Yet to Come wandered all over that park that night. They even chatted with guests in the restaurant where I had dinner, telling everyone who would listen that Scrooge needed to learn a thing or two about Christmas. Boy, they leaned him good, I'll tell you what! I imagine this would be Robb’s first stop if he were here. Jack Frost, the coolest guy in town, and two of his buddies hanging out at Starbucks. I think they all had iced coffee. What else? You do not want to be the reindeer behind Blitzen if he’s been eating burritos. Snoopy is here to get this party started. He's even more important than Santa. One flick of this giant switch . . . . . . and WinterFest begins in a flurry of snow. The Eiffel Tower really dominates the park during WinterFest. I wandered through Old Virginia in search of dinner. Hmm--this looks promising. They serve a pretty good turkey dinner here. You can get Virginia ham, too. There are plenty of other food options, such as a donut bacon cheese burger and crepes. What’s happening in nearby Tinseltown? “I really can’t stay . . .” “But baby it’s cold outside . . .” Yeah, typical dude making Christmas time. Coca Cola Santa--this one’s for Elissa. I took two rides on Twisted Timbers that night. The second one was kind of chilly. Candy Apple Grove featured music and synchronized lights. If you miss the Nativity show . . . . . . you can feed an honest-to-god camel instead. My favorite decorations are in Planet Snoopy. I like the gumdrops in the trees and all the lights on the topiary Peanuts characters. Of course, the best laid plans of mice and beagles oft go astray. If you still need to fill some time before the parade . . . . . . you can always go skating on Snowflake Lake. Or you could do some shopping. Tumbili is all set to brighten up your Christmas tree. Or this ornament could put your yule log in a twist. Who’s up for some hot chocolate and a bit of ritual Christmas cannibalism? A band of reindeer warm up the crowd for the parade. These guys were all over the park that night, too. And here it comes. Jollity on the move! One of Jack Frost’s buddies waves while a KD employee watches warily in the background (her eyes are on you, people). Hey, less cavorting and more baking! Them cookies ain’t gonna make themselves! Mrs. Claus is happy to finally get outside after decorating cookies all evening. “OK, it’s sing-a-long time! How about ‘Simply Having Wonderful Christmas Time’? Wait--where’s everybody going?” The safest way to ski. “That’s right. I am the coolest guy in town. I bestow my coolness on you by pointing.” I failed at getting a good picture of Santa. He’s going to leave this in my stocking for taking such a bad photo. The crowd follows the parade out. Thanks for the fun evening at WinterFest, Kings Dominion. Merry Christmas!

  7. I would get there at least 30 minutes before opening as Knotts opens the gates early most days. Once they're in the park, tell them to take an immediate left and head straight for GhostRider, it's the most popular ride in the park and gets the longest lines. Then I would head to the back of the park and knock out the boardwalk rides (Xcelerator, Hangtime, Berry Tales, etc). Xcelerator might still be down for painting, so warn them that is might be closed. Next up should be the log ride before it gets too crowded. After that, the ride order doesn't really matter.

  8. It's running. It's just goes down now and again like every other coaster. Last month and most of this season have been fine.

  9. Wow.. Lightning rod still doesn't work? I went for a 3 day trip opening year and rode it twice (lucky us!). Everytime we saw it go, we RAN to it. Got denied a ride countless times. What a POS. I really wonder what the issue is... I know it was speculated to be electrical/sensor issues at the launch & station. I wonder if RMC even knows what's wrong with it at this point.

  11. Hi Hasseman! Welcome to the forums! I haven't had the pleasure of riding a B&M Flyer myself yet either, but after a little research I think I can still help. My first piece of advice would be to contact the parks that you want to visit and ask them what their policy is. Parks should be happy to accommodate and let you know if you can ride and how, and what's allowed as far as medical devices and loose article go. Also, most parks have accessibility guides or other safety information on their websites so that might prove helpful if you need. For the parks that you mentioned you wanted to visit (I didn't find anything explicitly on stomas, but the following information could prove helpful nonetheless) I found this: Alton Towers has a accessibility guide page for Galactica here: https://www.accessable.co.uk/alton-towers-resort/access-guides/galactica-8cd9538b-d7ff-4999-a9c3-687181180872 They have some pictures on there, along with some information about the restraints and their policies, it's a little jumbled up for some reason, but the information is there. In Six Flags Great Adventure's accessibility guide they say this about Superman (here's the link if you'd like to read the whole thing: https://static.sixflags.com/website/files/sfgad_ada-guidelines.pdf): They also have this page on accommodating for accessibility if you need that too: https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/plan-your-visit/accessibility Cedar Point doesn't have a B&M Flyer, but they do have a B&M Wing coaster in Gatekeeper so here is the accessibility info on that (link to their full guide if you want to read it: https://cdn-cloudfront.cfauthx.com/binaries/content/assets/cp-en-us/general-information/help/2021-cp-guest-assistance-guide.pdf They also have more info here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/accessibility I'm not sure if this is quite what you were looking for, but I thought I'd give you a bit of a head start on the research there. On the restraints themselves, like I said I haven't actually ridden one of B&M's flyers so I'm not entirely sure, but based on looking at pictures and a little bit of research they look very similar to the vest restrains used on their Wing coasters which I have ridden (Wild Eagle at Dollywood). I'm on the slimer side, so I didn't find the restraints all that uncomfortable by themselves, but I did notice that they came down further during the ride which did cause some minor discomfort towards the end of the ride. Nothing that hurt or was unbearable, but it was noticeable. If I remember correctly they sat more on your waist/thigh than on your shoulders or stomach. Not sure if that makes a difference for you, but that's what I recall. I don't know how different the Flyer restraints are, but I know that their are people on here who can probably help with that. I hope this helps you out, and congratulations on getting out and riding coasters and rides again! I wish you all the best!

  12. This just popped into my emails. It's from Attractions Magazine, online. Amongst all the news they post about theme parks, there was this one. And one of the first couples that were helped with adoption thru Disney, was this couple and their new baby. Bravo to Disney for this! https://attractionsmagazine.com/disneys-family-building-program-adoption/?mc_cid=a71e314cca&mc_eid=ca232be3e5 Thanks for Attractions Magazine for this great article AND photo!

  18. For those who don't know yet... and are planning to see Eternals .... With NO SPOILER ALERT here, there are two more scenes during credits. One in the middle of, and one at the end of. We're seeing it Thursday, so I was happy to find that out ahead of time, rather than playing a guessing game about it.

  21. The time: February 2020. My family was planning a vacation to Orlando for December 2020. And then shit hit the fan in a nuclear way. And as it turns out, I had Covid during the time we had planned to go. Anyways, the trip was rescheduled for December 2021. I had scheduled off 9 work days. The flight out is Friday morning. Today was supposed to be my last day of work for 2 weeks. I'm telling my coworkers on the other shift that I'll see them the week of Christmas. Hell, I even posted in the TPR Facebook group a question about the trip today. Two hours after posting that, shit gets fucked 19 ways from Sunday when my brother announced that he has been diagnosed with Covid. Less than 48 hours before the trip, everything gets cancelled. The trip, my PTO, my hopes and dreams. I'm gonna scare a couple coworkers when I show up tomorrow for work. It's not often that I can relate to characters from Kevin Smith films, but for the next two weeks, I am going to understand Dante from Clerks more than any other character from any other film.
