  1. Personally, I'd love to go back to a world without cell phones and with pre-social media Internet. Seemed like a much more carefree time.

  2. My first trip to the "World" started in that Christmas, when it was celebrating its 20th birthday. My parents and I just flew from not-so-dirty-Jersey to Florida. But despite my parents enjoying Disney more than me, I look back at how things were interesting back then... Yes, Dale - you can hold me. I'm just nipping at lace, so I don't mind... Waiting for "Sparkling Christmas Spectacular." Despite being too young to remember having seen it in person, it beats the current holiday show "Celebrate the Season" to the T! It's a small world after all... Ooh LA LA! Presenting - German Bandstand! "it's a small world" Edition! That was the first year when SpectroMagic ran. I see a zany pair of ears behind that metronome! I need Goofy to play for the local orchestra! Look at how enchanted and illuminated this garden is! Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather, please make me a garden like that! It's a pity when WDW recently announced that the parade is retired! But I'm posting those pics for nostalgia's sake! Me and DD at Epcot (Center) I found those faces too scary in Canada. Me and DD in Japan. I love how DD keeps the guidemap in his shirt pocket - nifty!

  3. Leading up to COVID closures, we'd started leaving our phones in the car during some park visits, or portions of visits. Since I have a tendency to post a few drunken snaps, it completely took that off of my mind. It's also nicer to have less to carry around. I wanted to leave the phone in the car for the last half of our KI visit, but Emily wanted me to keep it on me in case something happened to our daughter, who was staying with family. Not having your phone as a distraction helps you focus on experiencing the now, instead of capturing it on video.

  4. I bought a car with a 72 month lease in October 2019. Due to COVID, my federal student loans were placed in forbearance. I used the money that would have gone into my student loans towards my car payments. I submitted the last payment today. On my birthday.

  7. I had some of the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had at Cotton Blossom BBQ at WoF. I actually went back in and complemented the staff! At SFGAm, the chicken sandwiches at Strutters are always good. If you like extra flavor, ask for them to make it spicy. Doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore, but they will make it that way if you ask. I also enjoy the Italian beef sandwich at Big Lou's. Quintessential Chicago food. Oh, and just recently I had the buffalo chicken quesadilla from Fiesta Fries Cantina. Surprisingly good and a ton of food, more than enough to share and only $1 on the SF meal plan.

  8. Yeah, it's got to be some weird problem with Fahrenheit as they seem to be able to cycle it and run it quite a bit but are not opening it.

  9. That's actually one of the really nice things about a cellular Apple Watch (or whichever flavor of Android smart watch). You don't have to have your phone with you but you can still send and receive calls and texts. And it's easy to keep conversations brief ("Sorry I can't really talk, I'm on my watch..."). Plus you don't have to deal with loose article policies.

  10. This. Even the slightest and shortest of rain showers also mixed with sun during my visit to CP a few weeks ago shut down 90%+ of the park. Then they proceeded to stand around waiting in the sun for however many minutes until the SOP said it's "safe" to resume again.

  11. They had Tricks and Treats Fall Fest last year. That sign is from last year promoting season passes.

  12. The pre-social media Internet was awesome. That's pretty much why I'm still on bulletin boards. They're just better.

  13. Back in the good ol' days, we could smoke in line too.

  14. Plus they didn't have cell phones to kill the time in the lines amd couldn't even go on the internet to complain about it lol

  15. Maybe this will give them the resources to focus on getting Fahrenheit instead?!?! Also, we should drop the Intamin hate...don't forget Gatekeeper is still sitting dead at Cedar Point...again!

  16. I can't believe they went with B&M for their most recent addition.

  17. Comparing Cedar Point's rain policy to Kings Island's apparent policy is apples to oranges. I see an easily obtainable middle ground between cycling 80 mph coasters in hard rain and stopping for drizzle. I'd be pissed if I had the opportunity to wait in the station for the rain to pass instead of being advised to saddle up during what Forrest Gump would describe as 'stinging rain.'

  18. While I agree fully, it’s not so much the closing down for rain that’s the aggravation though… it’s the “we need to wait and make sure it’s not going to start raining again so we’re just going to keep everything closed even though it’s not raining anymore” that takes anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. If the rides never close down then you can make your own decision if you want to jump in line and get pelted by rain drops or not. But Cedar Point is apparently content with their rain policy, which they say is in the name of “safety” to the detriment of the entire experience.

  19. Having worked at the park myself for 6 summers, this is absolutely false.

  20. After seeing the photos of this thing in it's current state I mean... I'm not an engineer and maybe this is irrational but I'll let you guys go first.

  21. They give you a paper ticket when you enter the Chocolate World parking lot with the time on it. When you leave, you hand it to the employee at the exit booth and they take the ticket and then there is no charge if it is 3 hours or less.

  22. in the past, Chocolate World always had it's own parking lot. . . I'd assume they still do. the website notes there is 3 hours of free parking. . . so I'd dig into it a bit (ie: call them). . I'll bet they have a separate area in the parking lot, and probably validate so the parking is free to visit the store. https://www.chocolateworld.com/en_us/plan-a-visit/faqs.html
