  1. it made MAJOR national news because it's an idiotic Political move by Abbott and the Republicans in charge of Texas. (AG Paxton has sued Travis County for continuing to enforce Mask Mandates). A quick google search just pulled up stories on NBC news, ABC news, CNN, Fox, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the LA Times - just on the front page of results from "Texas ends Mask Mandate") I realize it doesn't fit your agenda, but please don't pretend that it didn't get coverage. Thankfully, most of us who live here are NOT of the believe that asking folks to wear masks is an infringement of their "freedom", and realize that if everyone continues to wear masks and social distance, we can keep the Virus under control - and therefore most every business in Texas has decided to keep Mask Mandates in place - not just the Six Flags Parks, but Sea World, most Retail Stores, and pretty much every Grocery Store chain in the State. oh yes, Abbot said Texas is open 100%, but very, very few places are even at 50% capacity, because they need their customers alive.

  2. Bert, I feel bad that you have a Pucking Frick for a governor.

  3. The ops are always bad. That ride has 700 ride vehicles so they can make sure they stack 698 of them at all times. Bring a book to read on the brake run.

  4. Nobody should be surprised that Six Flags is opening as soon as possible and other parks are taking forever (though I get why Disney is). That's what's been happening in every single market. Honestly, go Six Flags. I love them lately and I don't know how I feel about it.

  5. Looks like DW will be open Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat-Sun throughout April, so I would go on a Monday or Wednesday in mid to late April. Spring breaks should be over by then and no schools will be out yet.

  6. So, we just got back from our whirlwind one day trip down there. Spent all of Tues, open to close at the park. It was absolutely SLAMMED. More crowded than any park I have been to since the original shutdowns last spring. Our reservation was also never scanned. Even more odd, after we walked through temp check there were park personal with computers on tables directing people where to go, right to turnstiles or ticket booth or whatever. I showed them the reservation page thinking they were scanning it there. Not only did they not scan it, they acted like they had never ever seen one and had no idea what it was. I had to explain that I have a membership and this was my reservation for the capacity limit. The employee actually said "I have no idea what to do with that, go to the ticket booth". Huh? Very odd. There was no line we did as asked and the attendant there just waved me through after barely glancing at it as I waved it at her. At the turnstiles they never even asked for it. Meanwhile at SFSTL I've had to show it multiple times to enter the park (at least as of last December, their opening day is this Saturday) Guessing that at SFOT the reservation is now mostly a dog and pony show. Curious to see if other SF parks do the same or if the reservations go away soon. And I still have no idea what the purpose of the employees with the computers between temp check and the ticket booths was. Thank goodness I had a member perk that allowed me to get Platinum fp for the same price as Gold. People with gold were still getting wait times of up to 45 minutes. Longest we had with Platinum was 15. Yes, it was that crowded. But worse than any of the ride lines were the food lines. Waited 20 minutes at a soda refill station and 1 solid hour at 3 in the afternoon for food. Every time all day we passed a food venue it looked about the same and many places were not on the mobile order list on the app. Not sure what the issue was, if they are just understaffed or still training or just got overwhelmed by the crowds or what. The cashier I had did not seem to understand how the food plan on the passes worked. I had to explain several time to talk The good side of that is that it turned into a really low calorie day for me because I just didn't feel like spending half the day in food lines. According to my smartwatch I walked almost 8 miles so with those two together hopefully I lost a few pounds The good news is we did get on every coaster even though many of them did have some down time during the day. Props to the maintenance department because nothing went down more than an hour or so. But at some point during the day Titan, MT, Skyscreamer, Freeze, and Batman all were down, and those are the ones I know about. But everyone was back up and working within an hour or so. MT train actually got stuck on the lift with passengers, but we didn't stick around long enough to see if they got it going quickly or had to evac. Mask enforcement was pretty good everywhere but the one indoor thing we did for any length of time and that was inside Johnny Rockets. The employees were trying but were being ignored. They probably really should have gotten a supervisor or security. They did crackdown on the genius that had taken his mask off and laid it on a table to hold the spot for him and his friend while they stood in line They did load every row on every ride, with the sort of exception being JL, where each party got their own car. I hope other parks do the same because I just don't see the point. I mean if people are in front of you going fast on a coaster doesn't seem like one empty row is going to help. They did have plexiglass dividers in the station between rows, which seemed reasonably intelligent. Which as I posted on the SFTTL thread ( they are doing every other row but no dividers in the station) brings up the question: Are the procedures coming down from corporate and some parks are just going rogue? Or is it at the discretion of each park president? Or is it different for each depending on the guidelines of the state and/or county that particular is located in? According to Bert from the other thread all the Texas parks are doing this so as he said, Maybe a state thing? Anyway overall it was a fun day, we got on everything we wanted to at least once or twice. Missed a night ride on NTG (which was waaay smoother than I could have anticipated) because we tried to do Titan first and sat on the brake run for almost 10 minutes, never did see or hear what the problem was and missed our last chance at the final night ride on NTG by like 3 minutes, but you know, you pays your money and takes your chances. We got up at 4 to catch a 6:30 flight, got a car, stopped for a quick breakfast, went right to the park, stayed until almost 8:30 , got to the hotel after 9.................so it is possible something happened that I just don't remember at this point, lol, but that's a basic summary of our day.

  7. Not even one joke about adding a new ride when they can't staff what they have?

  8. Just used this offer and will most likely be there April 2nd!

  9. I expect the line for Steel Vengeance to stretch to the (other) train tracks by 9:15 all summer long, the only difference is it won't start moving for 45 minutes now.

  10. The new ride is Snake River Expedition. "Golden Entry" is only 30 minutes before opening while the Platinum/Guest Early Entry is a full hour. Every ride on the Golden list is also on the Platinum List (it's inclusive). I'm also not sure how you consider every one of the park's top coasters except Dragster an "uninspiring list," but to each their own.

  11. The park has released some new information for 2021. Of note: Steel Vengeance will only be open for early entry on Saturdays and Sundays. The brand new ride will debut on May 28 but will close for the season on Labor Day weekend. The new ride will not be open for Early Entry because why would a new ride be open for Early Entry? Ride lines will close early if the lines are long Also, here is the early and golden entry ride list, though unless you have Fastlane which they may-or-may-not sell most people will be spending it standing in front of Steel Vengeance anyway waiting for it to open in an hour and not actually riding anything: All who qualify for the Early Entry perk will have access to: Ocean Motion Midway Carousel GateKeeper Kiddy Kingdom (11 rides) Cadillac Cars Cedar Downs Racing Derby Dodgem Valravn Raptor Millennium Force Maverick Skyhawk Magnum XL-200 Steel Vengeance (Saturdays & Sundays ONLY) During Golden Entry, Cedar Point Gold Passholders will have access to these rides: Ocean Motion Midway Carousel GateKeeper Kiddy Kingdom (11 rides) Cadillac Cars Cedar Downs Racing Derby Dodgem Valravn Raptor Link I've dogged on this chain a lot lately and I don't want to say anything negative so I have no comment at all. Instead here's a funny cat gif.

  12. I went on the Tuesday after Labor Day a few years ago and it was walk-ons or station waits everywhere, all day.

  13. Nothing has been announced. Probably won't be known until(/if) they put it live on the website's shop. For me, personally, as someone who dropped the grand for the All-Season, All-Park FL+ last year, I hope not.

  15. Bert... dude, chill... I'm not in favor of opening up any state, so we have no beef. My post was a response to Kim's questions, except it came with a poor joke on media in general. There were no political undertones.

  16. I still find it amusing that y'all in Walmarton have a hard on for taking Springfield down a notch. It's a new sponsorship, cool. They've had Humana as a sponsor for a few years now, so whatever, somebody else will be on the banners now.

  17. Magic Mountain fumbled the reopening 'announcement' as that was an internal date and most employees hadn't even been notified yet, but April 1st is supposed to be the reopening date. As with most things, Magic Mountain couldn't execute an announcement correctly so it was retracted on social media; I'm glad to see nothing has changed there.

  18. Arvest is based in Northwest Arkansas and was started by a Walton of Walmart fame. It is a huge regional bank around here flush with capital and big time backing. This brings me to NWA and Silver Dollar City. Northwest Arkansas is on track to nearly double in size by 2045. That means around 1 million in population. Nice to have one of the fastest growing and increasingly affluent regions in the country in your back yard so to speak. Springfield is also growing but it is not the juggernaut that NWA has become.

  19. While it's a lot of fun golfing at the Mason Grizzly course next to KI, really wish they were opening next weekend. Or this weekend. No clue why they're waiting till May, it's been at worst 50s and typically 60s around here in March.

  20. Now that's the Tokyo Disney Way they do things! Single Rider on Splash Mtn, I always had to wait if the person by themself, said yes or no (group of 3?). And every time, they were very polite and said yes! They loved having a wierd looking old hippie like me beside them, for the Onride Photo, LOL. And Raging Spirits (?) Coaster in TDS was the same. And easy. But during these times, I understand, that's not too easy.

  21. Dollywood seems to be filling most seats on all coasters. No skipping rows, at least today. Lines were pretty long most of the day Ops weren't bad today park was just packed it was reduced capacity though, but I don't believe as reduced as last year.

  22. I agree, it dominates the skyline too much. People will still ride it even if they have to search a bit for the entrance. And since the majority of park visitors are somewhat local, everyone knows where it is anyway.

  24. ^Hmmmmm. I never thought about the consequences this could have on Eagle's queue. Some reduced traffic would be nice if it doesn't present an excuse for constant one train operations.

  25. No random regional park in Pennsylvania is going to put a bunch of different size drop towers right next to eachother, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Please don't be ridiculous.

  26. um... Concentrate more on just getting the job, first. You can figure out what songs to sing and what rides to go on with your power ranger friends at a later time. Seriously though, don't mention any of this crap in an interview. Talk about being a responsible and friendly hard worker and not what gimmicks you have in mind for dispatches or what rides you will or will not ride on break. Let us know how it turns out.

  27. Still a better name than Flight Deck!

  28. It's extremely rare for them to have all of their major rides operating on the same day. It basically never happens. I don't recommend anyone plan a trip to this place unless they're okay with missing out on a major ride or two but I mean... what do you expect when you're only paying $80 per person for 4 hours?
    1 point
  29. At least there's no food or shopping to worry about once you've paid your $90!

  30. I think I might start using some of those lines myself. 'Sir, you have to pay for these donuts. ' "Yes, there is some money that is owed, but let us work together as partners to make sure we are each taking a fair position."

  31. The only other edge I'd give New Jersey over Minnesota along with the coasters is that it has faster dispatches on the rides. But Minnesota's has a far better atmosphere. It feels like an outdoor park. And the central location gives it a ton of kinetic energy. New Jersey's feels like a warehouse with the minimal skylight and few windows. Plus it feels dead being placed in the corner of the mall. Minnesota also has far better admission options and better non-coasters, most notably the Log Chute, which I would take over any ride at the New Jersey park.

  32. Havent been to this park, but arent water parks traditionally staffed by 16 year olds?

  33. I wonder if any of the tree removals are due to invasive bugs that are killing trees all over the mountains and even that area. There are scenic roads closed due to these bugs and while it sucks, can cause the trees to be very dangerous fall or fallen limbs. It seems they are clearing them out around the rides, possible they are afraid they will fall?
