Shanghai Disney Resort Discussion Thread

and I went and changed into swim shorts and tankop and flip flops before riding. Poncho

was utterly useless. Total gas of a ride. Have re-ridden it several times, in past visits.

I haven't been on Popeye/Bluto, but I can definitely confirm what Chuck is saying about Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls! Great ride though!

Wait time today. Soarin' was 5 hours in the morning.

^ even when taking into account the amount of attractions, it still amazes me how soarin' is THAT much of a popular ride.

I know that "hard-core" park and coaster enthusiasts tend to dislike Soarin', but I rather enjoy it (nice and relaxing). Other guests like it because almost all age groups can participate, and it delivers a mild thrill. My parents loved it at DCA.

That being said, I wouldn't wait for hours to ride it.

If i'm being honest, outside of Soarin, I was expecting lines for this park to be much worse than 75-120 minutes for bigger attractions even in the morning on a opening weekend (or so close to opening).I think based on some of the mad dashes at opening I've had on Japan trips I was expecting to see around 3-3.5 hours for things like Tron and Snow White etc.

I loved Soarin', after experiencing it at Epcot, that theme music has been playing in my head all the time and I rode it 7-8 times at DCA during winter break. But I'm not sure how Soarin' at Shanghai Disney will hold up its popularity overtime as flying theaters are EVERYWHERE in China now.

That's true, I'm kind of a wait until it's died down kind of person for trips rather than being first so i'll probably wait a year or 2. I still haven't ridden Harry Potter because I'm more interested in Flying Dinosaur and want to wait. Even with my local park, I remember Lost Valley had 4-5 hour lines when it opened and still gets dashes in the morning. On all my trips I didn't ride it until a year and a half after opening when it had a 20 minute wait around lunch.

The full Pirates "stunt show", which looks really good.

4:45 to 5:15 --> flying Jack Sparrow

6:50 to 8:25 ----> when the actual stage appears

10:00 to 11:30 --> swordfighting and stuff

13:30 to 15:10 --> storm finale

But I'm not sure how Soarin' at Shanghai Disney will hold up its popularity overtime as flying theaters are EVERYWHERE in China now.

I've never heard of a flying theater. Are they like Soarin' but play full movies? Or similar in length and also flying above neat touristy locations?

OK, that finale was goddamn incredible. I've never seen a skydiving fan incorporated into a stage show and definitely never seen one not using a tube around the flying compartment. Wow!

^Holy crap! WOW! That truly is incredible. I usually skip shows at parks, but that is one I would absolutely have to see in person. The two pirates attractions (the boat ride and this show) are both mind blowing and they really have me wanting to visit Shanghai Disney!

Kind of like Soarin'. Happy Valley which is like an hour away from Shanghai Disney has one from HUSS. I've never been on that one but Chinese people generally tend to be like "yeah I've been on a flying theater before so I don't have to ride any others anymore".

I was actually already thinking about how Disney could use a skydiving fan set-up for an Iron Man stunt show, after seeing this particular routine:

But I also thought you'd have to have the tube around, and helmets for stunt men! Having it (almost) seamlessly blending with the stage is incredible.

Now I still think an indoor Iron-Man show could be amazing. Add fly-boards and drones and you got it!

35 hours and 11 minutes from Shanghai Disneyland Resort grand opening. I'm in Shanghai now and the whole city seems really excited about the magical day of June 16th.

Hope they get that animatronic gator on the rapids ride working by tomorrow then, ha! (Too soon?) The rest of the ride collection looks great to me from the videos posted here so I bet the public will love it!

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but there is a shanghai Disney grand opening special on the Disney channel tomorrow night(I believe it's at 8pm).

Opening gala show:

Wowowowow. I'm loving it! (Not sure about the solo singing, though.)

And the castle! Perfect backdrop for everything on screen.

There may very well be some great castle shows at this park.

Disney Parks Blog recently posted a photo of Pooh's Hunny Pot Spin,

which I really haven't seen a pic of, in any report, since the park opened.

Interesting to note, they only touched on two Fantasyland attractions

in this recent report: Hunny Pot Spin and the Crystal Grotto Voyage.

Nothing of the main Pooh ride, or Peter Pan, or the Frozen show, etc.

Lots of pots of lots of....hunny. (o;
