thrillrider
We always seem to have a carnival or festival of some sort going on at all times during the summer near us. Some of these fairs have great flat rides that are just not found in theme or amusement parks for whatever reason. So I started this thread to see if anyone else knows of a a flat ride that is unique to traveling carnivals, that they wish could be found in a theme park. For me, I have always wondered why theme parks do not have a "zipper" ride. This is an amazing and thrilling ride that always brings in a crowd. Why can't I find this at an amusement park? Philrad71
I would have to say the double Ferris wheel. Ghetto, but very fun! They used to have one on the Cedar Point Midway many, many years ago. Some of the crazier rides like Skydiver, Rock-O-Plane & Ring of Fire/Super Loops are out there at some of the more retro amusement parks like Rye, Conneaut Lake, Sylvan Beach & Lakeside...rare, but they're out there. Dreaming out loud here...I would love to see Indiana Beach get a Zipper, double Ferris wheel & a KMG Afterburner on those over-the-lake wooden platforms. Perfect place for those kinds of rides! thrillrider
I think that old town in Florida has a double Ferris wheel. Cedar points double wheel was right inside the front gate. I remember riding it once as a child.
cal1br3tto
Personal most wanted: Mondial Shake.
simon8899
Moser-Rides Top Star Tour - mostly becuase I think this is cleary aimed at thrill-loving teens and not a "ride for the whole family" most theme parks want to have. ^I Think the Mondial Shake has the same audience. kidcoaster 2
I think that old town in Florida has a double Ferris wheel. I believe it was Fun Spot that had the double wheel but it was removed a few years ago sadly.
thrillrider
Seems like fun spot has got rid of a few rides as of late. No no longer have the cobra ride as well.
gerstlaueringvar
The only one I know is the Zipper ride on the first post. Which is because I have only been to one fair-Orange County Fair, CA in 2012. I STILL NEED THE ZAMPERLA SPINNING MOUSE CREDIT!
coasterbill
Zippers just look like carnival death traps. I can't see any corporate parks ever getting one but I'd love for a park like Knoebels to install one. To my knowledge Trimpers in Ocean City MD is the only permanent Zipper in the US... this needs to change because they're outstanding rides. A.J.
I haven't seen a permanently-installed Waltzer anywhere in the United States.
simon8899
^that Walzerfahrt is located at Tripsdrill - Liseberg has another.
A.J.
Have there ever been Waltzers in the United States at all?
thrillrider
Waltzer looks a lot like a tilt a whirl. Thst being said, I would love to get on one. Whats the name of the ride that is a big round disk that bounces up and down with nothing but a bench seat to sit on? I have only seen this ride in over seas trip reports. The Yeti
I've mostly been to bigger parks, but I've never seen a Booster at a theme park. I rode one once, and it was amazing. I don't think it exists yet, but I would love to see some kind of giant booster built at a park.

In the UK, the ride ops jump on and really turn the cars into spinning hell holes. From experience.
simaticable
The Waltzer really does look like an interesting ride concept. It would probably be fun to ride one some day.

cal1br3tto
Morey's has a ride called the Waltzer, but I think it's actually a different ride, and it definitely doesn't ride like the beloved Waltzers of the UK. It was pretty much a tamer Tilt-a-Whirl. Didn't Morey's once have a Tagada?
Dr. M
The only fair I go to every summer doesn't have too much in the way of rides, but I am particularly fond of the Matterhorn ride they have. It's way bumpier, more rickety, and even feels faster than the ones I've been on at major amusement parks. It's like the wooden coaster version. I wonder if there's any park that has one like that permanently... I'd assume not since most people probably prefer the smoother version. I don't think any self-respecting park, even Knoebels, would have a Zipper, seeing as they were basically designed with the sole intent of fitting on the back of a truck. alilstronger
Keep in mind a lot of carnival rides - Zipper, Rock o Plane, etc. have very limited capacity. That could be a reason many parks do not have them. Some I would like to see: Huss Booster Huss Flyaway Zamperla Air Race Zamperla Super Spin Zamperla Energy Storm Zamperla Zodiac
thrillrider
I think that coney island has a air race ride.
Anac0nda
Some I would like to see:Huss Booster Huss Flyaway Zamperla Air Race Zamperla Super Spin Well, I can help with that: Linnanmäki (Finland) has a HUSS Booster Park Index Bobbejaanland (Belgium) has a HUSS Fly Away Park Index Tivoli Gardens (Denmark) has a Zamperla Air Race Photo TR Wasalandia (Finland) has a Zamperla Super Spin Link. Altough these examples exist, I had no trouble picturing them in a park. It's ride that lack in safety and/or comfort that don't exist outside travelling fairs. Tagada and Zipper I think have these covered (altough I have yet to ride them). Also what I think matters is the general ride area, operator's booth and the fencing around them. For example the Enterprise seen in the Mexico TR that had absolutely no fences almost hurt my brain. There's just no way a park could ever do such a thing.
