El Toro_Ryan Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Anyone know why wooden coasters run faster and smoother when the track is wet? I just rode Toro at 2 AM after a downpour and it was the fastest I've ever seen it run. Extremely smooth too.
MFJorts Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 ^ Could it be as simple as the coefficient of friction being lower when the steel and wheels are wet? I think the same concept applies to steel coasters too, no? I've had a fast ride like that on Magnum back in the day.

Superbatboy Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 If you discount the original Batman, no Six Flags park has a custom B&M invert
gerstlaueringvar Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 DDD is a modified Anubis: The Ride with lap bars and a lift.
Myself Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 On a similar note, the log flume at Six Flags New Orleans was an exact duplicate of Thunder River at Waldameer.
witting Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 DDD is a modified Anubis: The Ride with lap bars and a lift. Does it also have the 2x3 seating or normal 4x2?

El Toro_Ryan Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 It's not a coaster fact but Great Adventure was originally planned to be built as the Disney World of the Northeast. This obviously never happened but the original owner, Warner LeRoy, had a very large plan which would have seen almost all the land around the park and even behind the lake used towards the resort. You can see the full plans here curtosy of GreatAdventureHistory.com. http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/GAOriginalParkHP.htm
rcjp Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 On the B&Ms whose trains don't have a "zero car", the first and second car have a different articulation system which allows the to twist only laterally (this can be noticed more easily on an invert where the distance form your feat to the car in front of you changes according to the track curvature except if you're sitting on the second row).
thrillseeker4552 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Leviathan is the only traditional B&M Hyper coaster (seating 4-across) that has 8 cars per train instead of the usual 9.
JonnyRCT3 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Kingda Ka's official structure height is listed at 137m due to it sitting on 2m footers.

coasterfansince1999 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 There is no Schwarzkopf looping coaster with more than 2 loops in an amusement park. All multi-looping Schwarzkopf coasters are on the European funfair circuit.

thrillseeker4552 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Intamin has never built a mega coaster with a MCBR. On the other hand, the only B&M Hyper coasters without a MCBR are Leviathan, Goliath (La Ronde), and Goliath (SFOG).

Atter Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Not sure if this has been said, but I thought it was weird that Silverwood calls there employees Cast Members just like Disney does.
Comeagain? Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Not sure if this has been said, but I thought it was weird that Silverwood calls there employees Cast Members just like Disney does. Â Yes we do. We're Cast Members wearing "costumes". But that's about as far as it goes. And even then it's used inconsistently.
thrillseeker4552 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The Flight of Fears at KI and KD use 5-car trains, while the rest of the Premier spaghetti bowl coasters use 6 car trains.
Rollercoaster Rider Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The Flight of Fears at KI and KD use 5-car trains, while the rest of the Premier spaghetti bowl coasters use 6 car trains. Â Apparently they ran with 6 cars but ended up with 5 (Assuming capacity died down after awhile) http://rcdb.com/66.htm
El Toro_Ryan Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Opening procedures at GADV require us to test the rides with all available trains and then once tests are done, trains can be transferred off for maintenance or due to low attendance. This way, when a train needs to be transferred back on for whatever reason, block and safety checks are already done for said amount of trains so there isn't too long a hold up in operations. We always do morning checks at El Toro with two trains and then if necessary, one train is transferred of and then later transferred it back on in the day if necessary. If you have ever noticed that we load people onto a train as soon as it is transferred on, it's because that train has already been through its safety checks.
