methos
every one knows sfmm scream is one, but how about the great American scream machine at sfgadv, the red stones simple cover the old tar. some of the others actually took out the tar and added grass like superman sfgadv, how about the great escapes steamin demon its off in middle of the front parking lot slightly raised on flat land. colossus and Goliath at sfmm look to be parking lot coasters as well. sfne btdk was also parking, it has grass at least. i think scream should have the Manhattan express theme and paint some road lines and ad some old cars to the theme, maybe a fasade or too. Mod Edit: PLEASE try posting with proper spelling and grammar. This includes capital letters. It's REALLY hard to read posts like this. Proofread, it only takes a minute, and will help all of us who are trying to understand your posts.
pianojohn
Wow. I know there is a spell check feature, but how about a punctuation and grammar check? Seriously, when I spend more time trying to figure out the intention of a post, it sort of loses its credibility. And on the subject of the post, you could technically call Magnum XL200 a parking lot coaster for the first drop and turn. It then becomes a campground and hotel coaster! Hercules
Before reading this I was going to mention Scream Machine. But you know what? I'm actually notoriously known for hating parking lot coasters, but I think that is the only one that actually give the ride a little bit of character. I love how the yellow lines are still visible and that the concrete blocks (whatever they are called) are still there.
Nrthwnd
You know? Maybe if they let some good graffitti guys and galzzz loose with some good quality paints and brushes etc..... These "parking lots" that the coasters seem to be encroaching more and more over, could be turned into soemthing quite awesome, paint wise. I mean, could you imagine a scream hill diving down towards what looks like a real cesspool of scary creatures????? Then, dips out of it towards the sky, etc.,etc. Even more interesting when lit at night, hmm? Would be a heck of an SFMM PR thing, too, I betcha. Inner city street kid artists creating Coaster Scapes? Nothing like 3-D Graffitti hmmm.k? (***I claim DIBS on the idea, lololololol.)
Three
Hey, Hades is a Parking Lot coaster. And nobody rips on it. Then again, Hades a) is good, and b) isn't exactly just plopped on top of defunct parking spaces.
MARK
^ Hades goes underneath a parking lot, and the parking space the coaster is built on is covered over with rocks. Plus, I think Mt. Olympus have intentionally put the coaster right in front of the parking lot to raise intrigue. If you look at this: http://rcdb.com/ig2667.htm?picture=66 it just goes nowhere, and then in this http://rcdb.com/ig2667.htm?picture=46 it just pops up out of nowhere!! That's gotta catch a few eyes. So I don't think that's a 'true' parking lot coaster. And if it is, it's a parking lot coaster that is done darn fine. I think a 'true' parking lot coaster just shows a lack of creativity i.e scream and a stupid excuse for a bit more park cred. What I really don't like seeing is two completely different and contrasting coasters, like Goliath and Colossus at Magic Mountain, that cross over each other, and in their case, one is put in front of the other. Just looks baaaad.... Eugh! That has to be the geekiest post I have EVER posted!
JamesMC
Six Flags Great America's "Shockwave" was a parking lot coaster that I rode probably a hundred times before it's eventual disassembly. However, when they put Superman-Ultimate Flight onto the same patch of ground, they actually landscaped it and made it a 'green area'. It looks nice now, but I still miss "Shockwave" tho I love Superman. Can't wait to try out the bigger Pretzel Loop of Tatsu on Media Day.
coastered
On some website I saw that Black Mamba @ Phantasialand is also a parkinglot coaster. But when I see the pics from that coasters you will be thinking where was that old parkinglot? But theming a parkinglot like it is in afrika, makes me think why can't other parks not theme their parkinglot coasters like that.

dougstanton
This is just my opinion, but I think the only thing that should be considered a parking lot coaster is something that is literally just plopped on the parking lot. Scream was just thrown there and they didn't even paint over the lines. It doesn't really matter if that area used to be a parking lot. They are just expanding, and did things to keep it looking good. They possibly planted grass or put huge rocks. Any of that looks so much better than leaving the parking space lines. Inner city street kid artists creating Coaster Scapes? Nothing like 3-D Graffitti hmmm.k? (***I claim DIBS on the idea, lololololol.) That's actually a really good idea. Hasn't the city of LA commissioned graffitti artists in the past in an attempt to get them off the streets and put their artistic talents to work somewhere useful? I thought I remembered hearing something like that in the past. Anyway, that really would be something to see.

dougr
Even though GhostRider is on a former parking lot, at least they put grass around it: http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=33.842276~-117.998017&style=o&lvl=2&scene=1038009

Canobie Fan
Kingda Ka was on parking lot.. and stil has some. BDK at SFNE is a lot coaster but you cant tell as the park put grass and trees down. SUF at GAdv and GAm are parking lot coasters... But both had grass added under them.
BarryH
DCA is a parking lot theme park! It was built on the former location of the DL parking lot. IOA was built on the former parking lot of USF. I don't see no parking lines anywhere at either park, though.
ParkTrips
Am I the only one who doesn't really care about parking lot coasters? Besides the humor in it, it doesn't really take away from the ride any more than a grass field (a la Timbers or Wild Beast) Yea its funny.. really funny.. but doesn't kill the ride or anything unlike a great placement (Nemesis or Boulder Dash) which makes the rides better. okinawaboy11
Hmm SFGAm, has to be the King of parking lot coasters. Shockwave SUF Viper Raging Bull And I'm not sure but maybe American Eagle was. Correct me on American Eagle if I'm wrong.
Bibitte
The new Goliath at La Ronde is a parking lot coaster... then again, the fact that it's surronded by the river on both of its sides makes it better. (and there's gonna be an awesome view of the city too) I don't know if we can consider Disaster Transport as a parking lot coaster, but the whole area surrounding it looked like a parking lot fair... JamesMC
Hey OkinawaBoy- Just a quick note about SFGA's "American Eagle". Although it is not sitting on a current or former parking lot, it is located immediately along IL 120 (Milwaukee Ave.) And there is a spot where traffic can pass underneath the Eagle, so it does border roadways/ and parking-lots, but the majority of the ride was built "In The Green" so to speak. By the way, the entirety of the New For 2005 Hurricane Harbor at this location was all parking lot. Note: "American Eagle" debuted for the 1981 season. Happy 25th Birthday this year.
