New Orleans? Or Disneyland's New Orleans Square?

Seems that a New Orleans Mayor candidate thought it would be a good idea to take a trip to New Orleans French Quarter....or should I say Disneyland's New Orleans Square French Quarter to do a photo shoot for her campaign.....kind of sad, really!

It's even on the front page of the site:

^ You're guessing that it's Photoshopped? She's clear, the picture behind her is of worse quality. There are more jpeg artifacts in it.

That's absolutely hilarious. How dumb. Are the citizens of New Orleans going to be fooled? Is it that hard to go out and take a picture in your city? Or even get an old picture of the city and Photoshop yourself in it? Come on.

What's really funny about this is that the French Quarter was area of New Orleans that wasn't all that badly damaged by Katrina (I work with a group of judges, and they're having their annual conference there).

Hoo, boy!

In Williamsburg, they're building this place called "New Town"--one of those "new" urban spaces that's meant to suggest a small town. Yes, in 1955, Walt Disney built his own uncanny simulation of a midwestern downtown from the early 1900s--"Main Street USA." In Williamsburg, we're building an uncanny simulation of Walt Disney's uncanny simulation!

LOL she's so "goofy"

She was the one who was out on the lam from the police for failing to comply over another issue concerning her position of Clerk of New Orleans City Court. Just the cream of the crop to pick from in the New Orleans mayoral election...

Found this on the web site that broke the story

Well, since this morning, we’ve confirmed it: that picture of New Orleans Mayoral Candidate Kimberly Williamson Butler was definitely taken in Disneyland. No streets in the French Quarter curve like that, among other obvious discrepancies. Now what kind of campaign would bother to so obviously fake a photo of the candidate standing on a corner in the city he or she actually lives in? Well, the kind of campaign whose candidate may have been too busy spending a couple nights in jail to take a real picture:

Ending one strange political saga by starting another, the clerk of New Orleans Criminal District Court, Kimberly Williamson Butler, surrendered herself to an irate criminal court judge Friday morning after a week of ignoring court orders and arrest warrants, and then walked outside the courthouse to announce her candidacy for mayor.Butler — who’s from Buffalo, NY and moved to New Orleans in 1999 — was thrown in the clink for mishandling FEMA fund applications. After hiding out for a while, communicating via talk radio, she made the classic “turn yourself in as you announce your candidacy” move, which we feel like can only be done properly in Louisiana (didn’t the Kingfish do something like this? Or Earl Long, at least?).
