A.J. Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Clue 1 and clue 2 is obviously a match: The supports line up should be enough for you to see my point. You look like you haven't upgraded to 10.7 yet. Guy, I think you're on the right track. Maybe there will be a conveniently-placed billboard of Dolly where the loops are!
Visioneer Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Having a little fun with this. Followed natural lines and colors. Maybe?
ernierocker Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) New image available. http://www.dollywood.com/dollywood2012/landing.php Can't copy the image over right now, but it is either the lift hill or beginning of first drop with wide catwalks on each side (Just like the ones on Raptor). No doubt it is a wing rider now! Edited August 30, 2011 by ernierocker
chickenbowl Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 To me it looks like all these images could possibly be stills from a video. Maybe the concept art?
Schotcher Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Wingrider. The catwalk is way too big to be anything else except a DM, but the track would be a lot bigger.
Intarider Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) I know that concept arts have nothing to do with the actual ride, but the lift track in the last picture actually looks more like an Intamin rather than a B&M, doesn't it? Then again, this is probably just the concept art. I would be more than surprised if this turned out to be anything else than a B&M Wing Coaster. Edited August 30, 2011 by Intarider
dragonskeep Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Wingrider seems a little too ovbious. I guess on Sept 4 we will, "find out what it really means". Ok so it's a Wingrider but ...what if it wasn't? Tadaaaaaa (Like Peter Griffrin). Will Hershey, SFGAm and Dollywood all get a Wingrider/walker/hybrid in the same year?
Schotcher Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 If I'm not mistaken, Intamin only uses one sided catwalks for their coasters. But it may be different with a wingrider. But definitely looks like a Beemer to me. And also, it looks like B&M box track, not Intamin (Intamin has holes in their coaster ) And I agree, I possibly a Beemer 4-D? The Sky is not the limit? Erm...just a stab in the dark here but it could means that even though most of the ride is in "The sky", another part is happening on the train, AKA 4-D.
Intarider Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 If I'm not mistaken, Intamin only uses one sided catwalks for their coasters. AFAIK you're right, but up until now Intamin has only built coasters with 2-across seating and a floor, so in case of an emergency people can be evacuated from one side safely. A wingrider however needs a catwalk on both sides as riders on the right, for example can't be evacuated to the left without serious danger. Furius Baco also has catwalks on both sides at the brake run. But that's just a general note. I still believe that a B&M is heading to Dollywood.

Not true, Batman at Six Flags Great America has catwalks on one side. This might be a rare case, but they do do it
niiicolaaah Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I visited the park for the first time this summer and LOVED it. A B&M of any kind will be a great addition to the park. (Personally, I hope it's a flying coaster)
Guy T. Koepp Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I can without a doubt confirm... ...wait... ...Nicole! Your back! Where have you been girl?
niiicolaaah Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi Guy!!!!!!!! Been doing some life contemplation. And then been around the country this summer. 13 states, not too shabby. ::edit:: and to be on topic, I went to Dollywood this summer. River Battle is the best ride ever!!!!
Guy T. Koepp Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Welcome back. I personally like Adventure Mtn. more, but River Battle is quite awesome as well.
ernierocker Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Still haven't done Adventure Mountain. Going with little kids makes that one difficult.
niiicolaaah Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Adventure Mountain was awesome! I am afraid of heights, so I was really nervous about it at first, but by the end I got all the way up to the top and rang the bell. Very cool! I really love Dollywood because they have a lot of unique rides. River battle, Adventure Mountain, Slidewinder, Mystery Mine, love it all. Rode Blazing Fury aka Firey Randomness a bunch of times. I even loved Barnstormer, and the other rides of that type that I've ridden before didn't really do much for me.
jedimaster1227 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) Not that I'm not convinced that it isn't a wing rider, but I figured I'd throw this in for consideration... Considering the onslaught of Wingriders to the parks worldwide, I am still hoping that there could be a possibility that Dollywood really will deliver a "first of its kind" attraction with this one... And yes, I do realize that B&M track has already been spotted--I'm just dreaming here. Edited August 31, 2011 by jedimaster1227

And yes, I do realize that B&M track has already been spotted--I'm just dreaming here. You know, come to think of it, that could actually be Six Flags Great America's plan. I completely forgot about the Free Fly, and the X version can have multiple cars per train!
triggernel Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 and to be on topic, I went to Dollywood this summer. River Battle is the best ride ever!!!! Hate to rain on your parade, but the SplashBattle at SDC crapped all over DW's. You can actually hit the people on land, and they give you more then one target every 20 feet to hit.
Gerstlauer1 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) New clue!! Okay, we know it will be a B&M coaster, and now, with those wide catwalks, it's only a question about if it's a WingRider or a Dive Machine! Looks like some wiiide catwalks! Edited August 31, 2011 by Gerstlauer1
ernierocker Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 ^That was yesterday's clue and was posted just two pages back. Please read the thread!
Jhcbiinoc Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I am really excited to hear the details on this one.....in regards to the posted clues, I am going to guess that the big element on this coaster will be a first drop element similar to the one on Swarm, where the trains invert and enter a diving loop. I am picturing the ride as having the dive loop and zero-g elements and maybe some other elements/inversions as well.
ernierocker Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 New image clue! http://www.dollywood.com/dollywood2012/landing.php Could this be the top of the world's largest loop??? New Picture.bmp
B&MIntaminGCI Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 That looks more like a Zero G Roll than a loop or immelmann because both sides of the inversion twist, whereas if it was a loop it would be straight, and an immelmann/diveloop would twist and dive down straight.
