Bobby2889 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I think it depends on whether this new ride is a start of a new theme area or if it is just gonna be a part of the Wilderness Pass area.
BeemerBoy Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I want a Dukes of Hazzard dark ride....focusing on Daisy.
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I want a Dukes of Hazzard dark ride....focusing on Daisy. Sold! But it has to be the Catherine Bach Daisy. Not that horse faced retard Jessica Simpson.
jray21 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I would prefer a ride themed to their cinnamon bread, kind of like the Hershey factory ride.
BeemerBoy Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 ^ How 'bout we compromise? Catherine Bach handing out cinnamon bread! Make it happen, Dolly!
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 ^ How 'bout we compromise? Catherine Bach handing out cinnamon bread! Make it happen, Dolly! Greatest ride ever! Absolute Genius! With ideas like this, how has Disney never approached you to be an Imagineer?
Ed Farmer Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Haven't been to Dollywood yet but considering how Herschend thinks out of the box on some of their attractions would something like DarKastle but maybe themed to feuding brothers who own a distillery fit in among their other attractions? I wouldn't call that thinking out of the box for a Southern-themed park, but I think that's a good idea.
BeemerBoy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 ^ How 'bout we compromise? Catherine Bach handing out cinnamon bread! Make it happen, Dolly! Greatest ride ever! Absolute Genius! With ideas like this, how has Disney never approached you to be an Imagineer? I turned the mouse down. I'm holding out to create my own park. I promise it will be unlike anything in the history of awesomeness though.....just as soon as I get the funding, and maybe a pickup truck or two.
Bobby2889 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Wasn't today the season pass holder preview day?
SuperShawn Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I would prefer a ride themed to their cinnamon bread, kind of like the Hershey factory ride. They've expended the mill to show off the making of cinnamon bread! It kind of makes it an attraction now... Kind of... Wasn't today the season pass holder preview day? It sure was, and with the extremely cold temps it was a very quiet day around the park with everything being a walk on and all shows and the Dolly parade easy to see. By noon all the coasters but Mystery mine had opened up. It was nice to see a lot of noticable up keep has been done around the park in attractions shops and stands. Thunderhead has clearly had a lot of TLC with new wood seen all over the ride, and Blazing Furry has had one hard to miss "upgrade" if you will. Adventure Mountain is slowly coming down and even the kids play area is boarded off and looks to be on the chopping block. The train no longer has the black smoke either, probably due to the fire a few days ago. Trip report and photos coming soon.
Bobby2889 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Can't wait to see the pictures! I live across the state so it will be a while before I make it to the park.
wes23 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 So... this is my first post and I noticed that on the top of the Dollywood map there is a Billboard that says coming in 2014 where Adventure Mountain used to be!!! It looks so great!! I know this is a long shot. But that would be a great place for Silver Dollar City's rollercoaster "OUTLAW RUN" twin to be put here with a launch! So it'll be the world's first launched wooden rollercoaster! Hey Dollywood likes to go for "first" in America rides! That one would be the "first" in the world kind of ride!
TyRush Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ^A launching woody!!! Do you think RMC has that technology yet? I would would believe they would since they are the bomb squad manufacturer
maverickpoint Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I honestly think there isn't going to be anything 'wood' about this 2014 attraction. Just my opinion.
Moose Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Going by their addition patter, I'd be surprised if it was another coaster next year.
maverickpoint Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 When are they supposed to announce this? I read somewhere that it was supposed to be said in March (this month) But I haven't heard anything. Hopefully it was mentioned the first day of opening yesterday and we will know this week.
wes23 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) I know they cleared out the land in the middle of the train loop, and it has been sitting empty for years. Somethings gotta be planned to go there! A launched woody with the moonshine theme! If it is not coming in 2014 itll be here in 2015.I noticed the pattern with the new rides, but with how successful Wildly is (and with river run opening this summer) they are gonna feed off the excitement with something big. Not to mention didn't they get some new upper management like president or something? If so they always like to make a huge impact and set the idea of where they are going for the future!!! They lost 3 rides over the past 2 years. They got to go BIG again in 2014 and 2015. This "off" year will help dollywood out tremendously! !!!!!!! Edited March 24, 2013 by wes23
SuperShawn Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ^^some of the park employees said an announcement in April or May could possibly happen. Not sure how true that will be since this seasons new attractions won't be open till may and I wouldn't expect the park to over shadow those with a major announcement. Also they've put up a banner in front of adventure mountain on the construction wall that says "a new big adventure in 2014. It'll be a BLAST".
kidcoaster 2 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Guys, sorry but I don't think a launched woodie falls into a family category... PIGEON FORGE, Tenn., On the heels of five Golden Ticket Awards, including Best Shows and Best New Attraction, Dollywood announces an exciting new addition for 2013 and plans for a new major family attraction in 2014. Imagination Cinema will become a 500 seat venue for a new Dolly family show. Plans for 2014 are under way for a one-of-a-kind attraction on the Adventure Mountain site. I would love to see a RMC at Dollywood at some point though, but it don't seem like it will be that 2014 addition. Hopefully 2016 / 2017? Edited March 24, 2013 by kidcoaster 2
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ^How does this perviously known knowledge slash our dreams?
Coasterguy21 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Thanks for the post Ken. I kind of figured it wasn't a coaster. Wild Eagle was a great addition to the park and came off as a hit. Next year just seems like it was made for families. I still am excited to see what it is because a ride/attraction is exactly that to me. I'll look forward to experiencing it. Besides, I love parks that are well-rounded. I was just going through the website today because I am planning a trip down there this summer. I was checking out the park map and noticed the "Coming in 2014" sign back on the Adventure Mountain site. I just figured that had been there for awhile and thought nothing of it. Guess not. Glad to see discussion going on but I do remember them saying they'd be doing something with the site anyway so I still didn't think much of it. Looking forward to finding out what it is though....eventually, haha.
wes23 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Well in the map it seems like they have forgotten about timer tower's old site too. Whatever it is thats going in 2014 will be amazing. Because ever since thunderhead was built every new ride has been a great addition! Im hoping dollywood gets an RMC rollercoaster in the future!!
cfc Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ^At this point, I think we're hoping that every park gets an RMC roller coaster in the future. Dollywood rarely disappoints. I wouldn't mind seeing a shooting dark ride, myself.
