IronWolfman Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 ^Hooray for People loving Arrow for once. I hate when it's always "Arrows Hurt" or "I don't care if they broke any records, they SUCK!" I'm am Visiting the park sometime either this year or next. Probably on a week day In Early June. What will the lines be like?
cfc Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) ^I think that Tennessee Tornado is the best of the Arrow rides, and I think Viper at SFMM isn't bad, either. Some Arrows have aged well (Tornado, Loch Ness Monster), others have not (Anaconda). Edited May 14, 2012 by cfc
Tanks4me05 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 ^After going on Anaconda and hearing all the crap that it was given, I don't understand how everyone thinks that it sucks. Yeah, the paint is horribly faded, but the only part that hurts is the transition between the two tilted helix things. Otherwise, I found it to be a very fun ride.
tntornadox Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Just so everyone knows, Mystery Mine hears all of this 'Tornado is the best coaster' talk and doesn't find it very flattering.. just saying.
ernierocker Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Mystery Mine has its own insecurity issues to deal with now that Wild Eagle is towering over it!
tntornadox Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 It can't help it that it's jealous of all the attention Wild Eagle is getting...
Six Flags Addict Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I agree with what you guys are saying about Tennessee Tornado! I was there on May 5th and I enjoyed that coaster way more than anything else in the park. It also had a full queue (like every coaster) but thank goodness for $15 Q-bots! Photo TR coming... I agree! I visited the park back in 2008 and Tennessee Tornado was quite the surprise - I liked it a lot! It became my favorite ride at the park.
alpengeist04 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Add me to the list of people who has Tennessee Tornado as their favorite Arrow.
Intimidator305 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Go ahead and add me to that list also. Tennessee Tornado is just overall a fantastic attraction, despite it being a tad short.
Jhcbiinoc Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I thought Tennessee Tornado was an excellent coaster, if a bit short, and very smooth for an Arrow. It would be my #2 Arrow coaster just below X2. I did not get to ride Mystery Mine last time I was at the park (but look forward to getting a chance to ride it when I am at the park this weekend), but my favorite coasters at Dollywood thus far go like this: 1. Wild Eagle (which is somewhere in my Top 10 steel coasters, just have not determined quite where yet and definitely in my Top 5 East Coast steel coasters so far) 2. Thunderhead (which is now my #1 wooden coaster, having moved GhostRider down to #2) 3. Tennessee Tornado 4. Blazing Fury I won't know for sure until I ride it where Mystery Mine falls. It looks like a very unique ride, especially with all of the theming.
RCBoilermaker14 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 I went on Mountain Slidewinder for the first time this weekend. All I have to say it is the best and most unique water ride I have rode or seen. Also in the tunnel that exits into The Village there is a display of Thunder Express's train and Blazing Fury's older train on loan from the Roller Coaster Museum with some basic info on them.
Ed Farmer Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 If I had ranking and lists and all that, Tennessee Tornado would be towards the top as well. There are 2 or 3 other Arrow loopers I prefer, and I haven't ridden X yet- but as the last of the regular coasters Arrow gave us, this one has the sentimental thing going for it.
RCBoilermaker14 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 I wonder what's next for Dollywood? I'm just going to list some possible options for next year, and you can debate the most possible option. A:Dollywood announces the Dollywood Resort B:Replacement for Timber Tower(Even though the picnic tables are just fine.) C:Dollywood announces a smaller,family-friendly roller coaster D:Dollywood announces updates about Blazing Fury, and focuses on upgrading shows, detail, and park look. E:(Least possible)Dollywood announces new wood roller coaster built by RMC. F:A revamped 50's area with a wood coaster announced the next year.

Sidewinder had a twin at Silver Dollar City and Herchend closed it down a few seasons back and all but the tower/queue are gone and nothing has replaced it. The two Parks often share new attractions like the river battles and the giant swing and even theme areas like flat ride collections County Fair/ Grand Exposition. Dolly got the woodie a long time ago but SDC is finally getting what may be an epic ride of one. Their coasters so far are not clones. I wonder if Herchend had not started Celebration City what else SDC may had got during that time. What I do know is that Fire in the Hole still has the water splash finale that Blazing Fury lost but needs a major reworking of the effects with modern tech.

ernierocker Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 There was an issue with the water splash finale and the new magnetic brakes they installed a couple of years ago. I wouldn't expect to see the water splash come back.

They need not put magnetic brakes on Fire in the Hole.
vtbrian Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Dollywood has posted a secret sound on their facebook page hinting to a new attraction. Sound can be heard here.
Jerrykoala2112 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Already hinting to a new attraction after Dollywood just opened one a few months ago?
coasterfreaky Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 I posted a link several pages back to a news story that i cant find, but Dolly herself said that Dollywood was taking a year or two off from adding stuff and instead focusing on fixing existing attractions, upkeep, etc. Now Splash Country may have expansion plans tho... Edit: Found the post on page 294. I saw this story over the weekend and i thought this was an interesting comment from Dolly... Just like the Imagination Library, Dollywood continues to grow. This year, the Wild Eagle takes flight and more plans could be on the way. "We got a lot more property to build on. We try to brainstorm every year to see what we're going to come up with next," said Parton. "We spent a lot of money on this ride so we may kinda keep everything up to date and stop a year or so," she laughed. http://www.wcyb.com/news/31050800/detail.html Dolly was in town for the Pigeon Forge parade and to open up the new festival at Dollywood. Whatever attraction that is in our future will be at least 2014 or 2015, in order to focus on upkeep. That's probably a wise thing to do.
