Ed
Plans have been unvieled for a stratosphere type tower in the city of Birmingham. If it goes ahead it would boat an impressive 7 rides at the top: 1. Top of the ride climb 2. 8 seat giant drop ride 3. Freefall parachute ride 4. 8 seat bungee jump ride 5. Seasaw ride 6. 40 flight training capsules 7. Gyro drop tower The tower would be 175 metres at it's tallest. http://www.rocinternationaltowers.com/index.htm

Cerberus
Sounds like Intamin is basically making the entire thing. They designed and built towers before, such as the Eiffel Tower replicas at some of the Paramount (paramount?) parks and their brochure shows many building style observation towers. They are definitely the ones responsible for almost every one of those rides too (the exception being the see-saw, which I assume will be the same as the Strato tower ride. Although Intamin could have developed their own). Hmmm, interesting. Certainly an awesome project I hope pulls through! Parachute drop! Never thought we'd see the return of those... DerekRx
Yikes! And Elissa is scared of the structural integrity of the Stratosphere with only 4 rides on top. I can't imagine we'll ever get her on this UK version....well then again, it appears to be a bunch of Intamin rides.
Nrthwnd
Wow. Add me to the "You've got be kidding --- up there?" List! Uh uh. I'll admire it from afar. On the ground.
SharkTums
^^Two things are different here!!! One - If it's really made by Intamin, then I trust it and will have fun on all of the non-spinny rides! Edit, YAY!!! http://www.rocinternationaltowers.com/project.htm Intamin/Ride Trade has gained a reputation around the world for providing high quality and innovative products for the amusement park, theme park and entertainment market. The company has more than 35 years experience of developing amusement ride systems, water rides and different types of panorama towers, specialising in conceptual design, planning, design, engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, project management, maintenance, spare parts and after sales service, and establishing itself as THE major innovator and supplier of rides to the amusement industry. The range of rides and attractions developed by Ride Trade includes tower attractions, free fall attractions, giant wheels, iron rides/round rides, dark rides, simulators, customised rides and attractions, and special engineering products. Two - This is being designed with the rides in mind. Not adding them 10 years after a tower was constructed that was not meant to have something diving off of it!!! I guess we'll know pretty soon if this will happen or not since it's supposed to be done by 2008!
CoasterCrazy
This tower sounds/looks very interesting! It looks like I might have to travel to the UK again in a couple of years!
DenDen
Two - This is being designed with the rides in mind. Not adding them 10 years after a tower was constructed that was not meant to have something diving off of it!!! Stratosphere was actually designed for one ride, and the ride orginally planned for it didn't make it, and was replaced with Big Shot and Let It Ride! Ed
I reckon this will be at the top of the tower: The seesaw ride will probably an an X-scream model. (Who makes them?)
martinb
^WOW an Intamin drop ride on the side of the tower that is 175metres tall (approx 500-600ft) I think the intensity of it would blow my head! I reckon they should have one of them Sky coasters over the edge of it, like on Blackpools South Pier they have over the edge of that! THAT WOULD BE SCARY
CoasterCrazy
A drop ride off the side of the tower would be awesome!
Ed
There won't be a ride on the side of the tower. What I meant was that the spike at the top of the tower will have that combination of rides on it. A 500ft drop off the side would claim the record for tallest drop ride in the world. And they aren't marketing that. You can see the spike here:
DragonKhan
I reckon this will be at the top of the tower: The seesaw ride will probably an an X-scream model. (Who makes them?) I remember reading about a Gyro Drop, so that's a no for that thing...

MLRC7 CP
A drop ride off the side of the tower would be awesome! i think that would happen because of the blurs in the picture that are on the side of the tower
coaster mad
Maybe but that would be really great if it did happen.
BDG
Nothing wrong with kicking an old topic... There won't be a ride on the side of the tower. Anyway, there clearly is a ride on the side of that tower in the renders: http://www.skyscrapernews.com/imagesall.php?idi=Birmingham%2BPinnacle&ref=4700&selfidi=4700BirminghamPinnacle_pic1.jpg&self=nse&no=1&x=87&y=
ScottBrown
yup I see a drop ride down the side of the tower in those but I wonder what the deal with the flight capuules are - The first thing that came to mind was the Intamin Flight Trainer (god lets hope not)
