DallasAlvey Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 ...I find it funny that Wii went from an impessive lead over PS3 (somewhere around 200,000 more) to now just about doubling them lol (currently 331,410 PS3's to 662,713 Wiis sold according to nexgenwars.com ) Woot, go Wii! Allan "8675309" bray I don't think the lead is suprising because the PS3 is more expensive, not as good, and Sony relesed less of them. -Dallas "Wii rocks"Alvey
pvcoasterguy Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I agree with Dallas--the PS3's simply approach the dollar mark that makes you think, "Eh... that's way too much!" And it is! They recieved negative publicity for the extremely limited release that they had, and now a lot of the hype is down for it. Nintendo has made the Wii accessable to all types of gamers, which will advance its popularity. Also, its pricing is actually fair.
Florida420 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I am a bit upset, I should have just waited at launch for a few hours and I would have a Wii right now. Now I'm not gonna get one until the 6th, my stupid store is so f'ing stupid it's unbelievable. I found this out yesterday, but I was too upset to even talk about it, but now I will share my story and please let me know if you agree with me and think it's a bunch of bulls**t. Here it goes. As you may or may not know I could have waited for a Wii at launch, but didn't. I knew that I had 31 more coming, I assumed they would be coming that following week. The week came and went, no Wii, I was really hoping for one for the holiday weekend, but no such luck. I thought for sure they would be coming this week, everyday I've been bothering the girls in receiving for the Wii, to no avail. Then Monday I found out that the Wii is gonna be in our flyer for next week and when they came in I would have to wait. Not too big of a deal, I waited this long, what's another few days, I will have it for the weekend right?.....wrong. They came in yesterday, all 31, so I got excited and was getting ready to put one aside for myself for the end of the day, if it was allowed. They tragedy struck, I found out that the flyer that they're gonna be in doesn't drop until Sun. and that it says available on 12/06.......12/06?? what the f'k? But that's not the crappy part, get this, they're treating this like a launch all over again. We got a e-mail from corporate that we have to hold them until the 6th and release them at midnight on the 5th with tickets and everything, are they serious? I have to wait in line, a la launch for a item that is no longer street dated? ....it would seem so. The ad says available on the 6th one per customer (duh) and stores will have a minimum of 3....that's right, 3......we have 31. I realize they have to cover their ass, but I think they would be OK if they sold like 15 now and saved 15 for the flyer and 1 for me. By all means don't treat it as a launch, are they gonna do this every time we get in more? this is crap!! Oh and did I mention that they are locked out of the register until the 6th, so you can't even ring any up, or so we're led to believe. I have the upc for the Wii, so I typed it in at the register and it prompted me for a serial no. so I don't think they are locked out yet. So then I asked my store manager if they weren't locked out if I could get one. I explained to him that the ad said minimum of 3 and the e-mail said most stores will receive 15 and we have more that enough for me to snag one now. ....................................................................... He said no and he assured me that they are locked out now, I don't know if I believe that, but what he says, goes. I still think the whole situation is bull. The only good thing, I guess, is that he said some how I will get one on Wed. I cant give out the details in case there is any other Wii-mart associates on this site, I don't want to get him in any trouble. But I assure you I have to wait every bit of 7 days. I'm still so pissed about it, every time I think about it I get mad. Don't get me wrong I'm not being a baby. It's just they there in my store taunting me and it's not like launch where I knew I couldn't get one yet. They're out on the market, I should be able to get mine now, ya know? I've been waiting patiently (not really) for almost 2 weeks now. God, I feel like Cartman, too bad there's no snow down here. Alright, I'm done complaining, thanks for listening, I think I feel a little better, but I am still mad !!!!!! P All " When lord, when? ....when's gonna be my time??!?"
Slacking Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 That does suck. If an item is past it's street date there seems to be no reason to keep them (at least all of them) hidden away for a week or so. And they're treating it like a launch all over again? Is that company wide? That's kinda ridiculous.
Angry_Gumball Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Hey, anyone know how to remove a Game Cube memory card from the Wii? Mine kinda got stuck in the slot when playing a gamecube game earlier. I don't want to force it out and have something break. And I did put it in the right way...it won't come back out of the slot. EDIT: Nevermind...as soon as I posted it and tried again, it finally released. I kinda had to push it backward and slide it out if anyone else runs into the same thing.
Zen Coaster Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I'm going to sit down and read through the entire thread but I would like this one question answered: For the Net functionality, will I need to buy a wireless router? Or can I just connect my normal router to the Wii via Ethernet cable?
Sir Clinksalot Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 ^ Not sure since I don't have my Wii yet. But you can get a wireless router for $20-$30 these days. I paid $40 for mine earlier this year and saw the same one last week for like $20.
PhishyBrewer Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I'm going to sit down and read through the entire thread but I would like this one question answered: For the Net functionality, will I need to buy a wireless router? Or can I just connect my normal router to the Wii via Ethernet cable? Pick up one of these babies at a local Best Buy or such. Plug it into a USB port in your computer and you'll be good to go. Supports Wi-Fi for the DS and Wii. About $40 bucks. Worth it to avoid the hassle of setting up a Cisco router.
Primogen18 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 /\ I was wondering if the Wi-fi adapter for DS worked for both DS as well as Wii -Allan "867-6309" Bray
Zen Coaster Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Oh seriously, you know for a fact they work for the Wii as well? Brilliant! Thanks for the heads-up.
PhishyBrewer Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Oh seriously, you know for a fact they work for the Wii as well? Brilliant! Thanks for the heads-up. Yeah... it works. It's not like I'm making money off the deal.
obeygiant Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 are the controllers really hard to use?? do they take a while to get used to? (and keep in mind that i play videogames ALL THE TIME, so i'm pretty good at learning controls!) has anyone played Red Steele yet?? is it good? how are the controls? if i did get a wii, that would be the first game that i would get..
SharkTums Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 For Wii Sports the controller makes total sense. For Monkey Ball it took me about 15 minutes to get it right. The controller is awesome! You won't have any problems.
arrowfanman Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 ^ Well...someone is bound to have problems! It ends up that several people are getting a little too excited, angry, or drunk when they go to slash an enemy in Zelda or bowl a stike in the bowling game...causing them to accidentally chuck their Wii-mote across the room, and often times into TV's! http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/ -Jahan "Forgive me if this has already been posted. I dont need to read 44 pages on everybody else's Wiis" Makanvand
SharkTums Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 ^A lot of those have already come out as hoaxes. If you actually come over and play with my Wii you'll see it's pretty damn near impossible to do something like that.
arrowfanman Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 ^ Was that an invitation? Because I'd totally be up to play with your Wii. -Jahan "Have we already exhausted the 'Wii' jokes, or can I still say them?" Makanvand

Like Elissa, it totally works for Wii Sports. As for Red Steel, you get the gist of it pretty quick. Then before you know you have to fight some dude with a sword. It's cool, but be ready for a work out. Call of Duty 3 is the one that really took some time to learn. But before you knew, I was busting the butt of my rifle across German's faces.
Primogen18 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Bah, I was all excited, Walmart is really pushing this commercial tonihgt about now having Wiis IN STOCK, Ive seen it a few times so I just called a few and got "We dont sell those yet... not until the 6th.. or 10th, not sure..." and "those are out already? I think we get a shipment in sometime next week..." stupid walmart... Allan "867-5309" Bray
Sir Clinksalot Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Still looking for one. Went to a couple of places yesterday and started getting attitude from people, one at a particular Toys R' Us. I mean, I know they are probably sick and tired of people asking for the Wii, but still ... you can be nice about it. So I just went ahead and bought a new computer today instead.
SharkTums Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Got my final two ''Wii-motes" today...now I'm all set for some hot 4 player action! (Oh, and Jahan did stop by to play with my Wii!)
RaptorBoyASU Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 How bout nunchuks? How many do you have? Should I bring mine with me when I come play with your Wii?
SharkTums Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 If you wanna bring one cool! I think that most of the 4 player games seem to not use them though (thank goodness!)
DeliriumTrigger Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I'm curious...is anyone else having issues with the wiimote not holding up as well as it should? My wiimote's speaker has been cutting out (not just crackling, but stopping entirely) most of today, and another won't work right anymore (the pointer still shows, and moves when the wiimote does, but can't click any buttons when hovering over them).
RaptorBoyASU Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Oh, I'm guessing you already have 2 so that you can box.
RaptorBoyASU Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 ^^My speaker crackles every now and then, but otherwise I've had no issues.
