ytterbiumanalyst
The benches out front? Â You're talking about a crazy insane coaster here. You get thrown around all over the place no matter what. The very middle is always the least crazy seat in any coaster, but if she's apprehensive, I can't see this going well. Twister is probably a better option, since it focuses on laterals and it has the individual lap bars you see on most wooden coasters these days. Pedrinho
...what seats on Phoenix offer the LEAST amount of airtime? Normally I'd say the test seat, but I can't remember seeing something like this over there. But there was an old car on display in front of the entrance. Maybe try that, if it's still there. They've been displaying a disjointed car near the exit for a number of years now, today it's complimented by a setup celebrating Phoenix's Golden Ticket win from last year. coneyislandchris
Believe it or not, I think Twister is going to be the harder sell, since it visibly towers over everything else in its area (and her biggest fear is that of heights). I will try to talk her into the middle seats, but I won't force it upon her. Â For reference, though, she's done maybe about 20-25 coasters, most of them wild mice, bobsled style (yes, including Flying Turns, which she loved), or alpine coasters. Her favorite so far is Oscar's Wacky Taxi, which has a fair amount of airtime, but also the wings on the side of the seats that kind of box her in so she doesn't realize how high up she is, as well as a really secure restraint. Â Maybe I should just hold off on trying to get her on a classic wooden coaster until we go back to Hersheypark... Comet would probably be a much tamer experience for her. Canobie Coaster
Twister looks tall and is lap bar only as well, but you can staple yourself to be secure.
Habreno
I would pick the front seat of a car. Probably Row 7 (cars are rows of 3). The back seat of a car is going to give you the best airtime, with the middle seat in the back car also being very good comparatively. This rules out rows 12, 9, and 11. 6 and 3 are also back seats but in the front half of the train, where the train is more *pushed* than *pulled*, but still, as back seats, are going to get air. Â Row 1 is a great view, but due to that pushing does get some air. Not that much, but still does get some. The only problem with Row 1 is, being the front, it'll get a longer line. As Row 4 is a front seat in the front half, it'll also get some air from this but not nearly as much. Â This leaves us 10, 8, 7, 5, 3, 2. Front and back cars are going to get more air in their respective ways due to physics (less to hold them down), ruling out 10, 3, and 2. Of what's left, none of those are going to be great air, but I generally believe the front of a car is less air than the middle, thus leading me towards my recommendation of Row 7. 8 and 5 are decent choices as well, and of the ones ruled out I think 4 would be the best of them. JG-77
From my six rides (3 in r1, 1 in r12, 1 in r11, and one in r3), I actually found the front consistently had some of the strongest air
djcoastermark
My advice for Twister, pick a seat near the front. It is much less jarring than the rear of the train. Loved the front, wasn't as crazy about the later half of the train.

Oh for goodness sake, just pick a seat and ride the coaster. It IS Phoenix, after all. There's always going to be a bit of "scary" airtime regardless of where you sit. DarienPoint
^ It's like Skyliner at Lakemont Park, the first airtime moment it felt like you were gonna fly out because there's only a lap bar. Â It isn't bad, just hold on for when you feel like a "scary airtime" moment is coming.
coneyislandchris
Well, for what it's worth, the wife was seriously considering it after watching Robb's POVs and looking up factoids about the two of them, but ultimately, she declined to board both Phoenix and Twister. She did get on Flying Turns again however (and continues to love it), and she also tried out the new Tumbling Timbers ride which completely wrecked her. It started off gentle enough, then got progressively faster and spinnier, and then by the time it went in reverse she just couldn't handle it any longer. It made her feel so dizzy that she even passed on a end-of-the-day ride on the carousel (and she's a HUGE carousel fan). Â In any case, my daughter ended up getting her first rides on Phoenix (back-to-back thanks to an empty station!), Twister (her favorite of all the rides there), Flying Turns (which she thought was never going to end thanks to the three lift hills), and Black Diamond (or as she called it the "spooky halloween coaster"). She definitely enjoyed herself, so in that respect, mission accomplished! Â Although they are open for daily operation, yesterday was apparently a "pre-season" day, which meant that for a slightly reduced rate on the handstamps, certain rides, attractions, and buildings were closed throughout the day. Just from memory, those included the Scenic Skyway, Kiddie Turnpike, Sky Slide, Ball Pit, Ole Smokey train ride, Lazer Command, and probably about 30% of the food stands. A fair tradeoff even though the kids were disappointed that some of their favorites weren't operating. Even with those closures, we still didn't get to do everything else we wanted to or could have done in the span of the 8 hours they were open. No Cosmotron, no teacups, no Paratrooper, no Playland arcade, not even a game of Fascination! This park just has just that much to do! We'll definitely be back later in the season if not for Phunfest on my birthday weekend, then for just some more potato cake cravings whenever they hit, and we'll definitely be hitting up all the stuff we passed on yesterday. Â (And maybe by that point my wife will conquer her mental stumbling blocks. I wouldn't put money on it though.)

Canobie Coaster
^ I rode one like that in Lake George and the spinning is quite intense with the small radius. It's basically a high speed tilt-a-whirl.
Highridin
Need some quick Intel for my first trip. I'm going the end of June, and have no real rush. Are the lines unbearable on Saturdays?
Canobie Coaster
Phoenix's queue will spill onto the midway but since they dispatch trains in 15 seconds, that queue only takes 15 minutes (if that). Â The longest lines you'll see are for Flying Turns and Impulse. Everything else eats through people quickly thanks to their operations.
A.J.
If you're going on your own, Impulse offers a single rider line, you just have to ask the team member at the entrance to use it.

ytterbiumanalyst
Get there before opening and have breakfast. At opening get in line for Flying Turns. After that do whatever. Eat Cesaris, eat pierogis, see the eagles, have a good time.

Eat Cesaris, eat pierogis, see the eagles, have a good time. Â Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I was planning on getting there at 11 sharp, though, I have heard that the place really shines at night. Do you think that I can fill the day until sundown? If I were bringing my daughters on this trip, then sure, but just me I don't know. I heard the Haunted Mansion is closed on weekends. I'm a little salty about that. ytterbiumanalyst
Oh yeah, plenty to do there. Mini golf, Fascination, lots of gift shops too. I was there for 2 days and it wasn't even enough. I haven't heard about Haunted Mansion closing for weekends but it was open when I was there and it's great. Hope you get to go on it. It's not on the wristband, but those aren't available weekends anyway. It's one of the best dark rides anywhere. So is Black Diamond.
Highridin
See, I want in in that. I'll double check before I leave. I may actually be able to go on Friday, but not until about 4.
