rcjp Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 ^I'm not sure if it would be possible to have the drop tower follow the coaster as they reach different heights which would make things quite tricky. Still, the idea of a space shot is interesting even though, if I'm not mistaken, intamin hasn't made many at all.
_koppen Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 ^Don't forget that 300 feet means nothing for most of us in Europe, you probably know that (given that you also live here). The 100 metres mark (328 feet) is something more significant, I would guess. Good point! I thought of it for marketing the name "giga" coaster though. Still, the idea of a space shot is interesting even though, if I'm not mistaken, intamin hasn't made many at all. They have, Mystery Castle, Phantasialand is better than any S&S tower I've been on There's one at Lotte World as well, but that's a really small one.
CPSFMMCW Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Has intamon ever done a launched drop tower before? But I do like the idea! That would add some diversity between the two attractions.
rcjp Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 ^They have, as Koppen mentioned they have at least one at Phantasialand and another at Lotte World, in South Korea.
CPSFMMCW Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Mmmm yeah didn't see that. Whoops! Probably should've read the post above mine....
medoman Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 is mystery tower launched? to me it just seemed like it had a fast winch rather than a launch
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 ^It technically is launched, yes. Its just not a very fast one.
Projektion Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 New pictures of the ride have been posted to PA-Community by arracuu. Theming is coming along nicely and the track was been laid down.
FreeFaller Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 That looks great! Can't wait to check it out in about 3 weeks! Should be a fun ride!
coasterbill Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 This park is on my bucket list for sure. This looks outstanding.
_koppen Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 That looks very pretty! I love that they are going with the authentic green water.
rcjp Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Ooops! Only now did I realize those pictures had already been posted. My bad
Projektion Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 New pics of the ride/theming. the boast have also arrived. Also, TV spot! (french) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcaBk6uDcu0 (trivia: this tv spot was mostly recorded in the polynesia section of the park) Source: http://port-aventura.pa-community.com/construcciones/portaventura-novedad-atraccion-2014/fotos
Woodie Warrior Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 The themeing on the ride is completely stunning
Blue Turbo Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I wish more parks would put this much work into theming their rides. This looks amazing
rcjp Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 It does look great. Looking forward to my first splash battle in just 10 days!
rcjp Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Looking really good. Great theming and should be some good fun too!
DBonner13 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I'll just leave this here... One thing I noticed in that video, though, is that the accelerator only has 6 horizontal beams, whereas Dragster, for example, has 7. I'm thinking just under 400 feet.
Projektion Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 ^It says in the description it's unofficial and made by fans in NoLimits 2.
DBonner13 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I didn't think to translate it. My apologies. Thank you for finding that.
Atadritaata Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 in the official artwork it had 6 beams too (its only an artwork though)
Projektion Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Personally, I count 8 (but this is including the triangle one at the top). I'm more intrigued by where PA-Community got the 118 meter figure from in the description of the video, like is that actually going to be the height or was that just the height the creator of the recreation decided to put it at.
DBonner13 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 How often does the entire support style of a ride change from the first animation to the final edition? The only two rides I can think of that have had this happen to are Goliath at SFGAm and SkyRush. Aside from those two, I can't think of any others, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Obviously, there remains a chance that it could be totally different, as it isn't the final render. But I would be comfortable thinking that a ride of this style will have a tower styled support, and that the quantity of these horizontal beams will stay the same, but the spacing could change. That being said, if everything is exactly as it looks, it seems as of this ride will be in the 350-400 foot range, to me, which would put it at the tallest coaster in Europe, and presumably the fastest. And if I'm not mistaken, they released that this coaster will hold those two continental records.
