ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 It would be nice if they had a live webcam so we can watch the progress on JLBFM. I wonder what type of promotional video the park is going to do for this ride. It should be something like this: "If you thought Spiderman and Transformer was fun, you haven't been to Metropolis!" Yes, it's lame, but it was just a thought.
HARLEYGUYJB Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Some photos from yesterday. I also have a few questions about a few things going on in the park. Front of JLBFM What are the plans for this part of the JLBFM building? I hope they don't leave it like that. They were doing some painting on Sunday I know a few people on here have asked what are the plans for this part of the building... This has been closed since last year. My son loved this ride. Anyone know why it's been closed for so long? These also haven't worked this year either. If I remember correctly they did not work at the end of the year either. Why don't they make this a new restaurant? It's been sitting like this for a few seasons now. I know it's used a storage area for the park... but the park could definitely use another restaurant.
ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 ^ Love the pictures! But as far as what they're going to do to the side of the building for JLBFM, I'm pretty sure some type of theme would be done to it. I would hope so.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 You are correct. I witnessed that yesterday, and I don't think I have ever seen it before. The crew was working so fast. It was really awesome to see. The park's operations in general were great this past weekend. I frequently saw crews of 4-5 on the coasters, and the only times I saw stacking were when a guest had to take the walk of shame.
ChrisGraslie Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Those doors on the side of the building are new I'm pretty sure or at least freshly painted considering one is the exit of the ride so I'm sure they won't keep it that way. It would look very grossly mixed with a fresh new Hall of Justice and then rotting wood and vegetation on the side
HWFan Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Why don't they make this a new restaurant? It's been sitting like this for a few seasons now. I know it's used a storage area for the park... but the park could definitely use another restaurant. At least in 2012 and 2013 (and I think in some years before that too), it was used quite regularly as an "Online Purchases Only" season pass processing center. It was used all weekend during September & October and was also used a lot on busy weekends in the summer (at least once or twice a week during June and July), in addition to any other busy day we had. Now that the passes are processed at the front gate, 99.9% of people who purchased passes online never even have to visit the season pass service center all year. However, at least for much of 2014, it was kept stocked and ready in case it was needed, as many of you unfortunately know there were definitely some crazy times at the front gate last season. With the computers and season pass stuff now gone, the only thing that it is really used for is its kitchen. All of the big pretzels and some of the other snacks in that area of the park are all cooked inside the kitchen at Calicos, the name of the former restaurant and season pass center. While projects and things are constantly, I can say that there are at least a few preliminary plans/ideas for the building. As the season dining pass continues to grow in use and popularity, I think you'll see the park needing more food service infrastructure. What are the plans for this part of the JLBFM building? I hope they don't leave it like that. While I don't know any specifics, I do know that there are plans for the refreshment of the other three sides of the building including that one. (Btw HARLEYGUYJB, do you mind if I post your pictures to show some people on reddit? I can't take my phone out while in the park, so I wasn't able to get any pictures this weekend. I'll give you credit.)
HWFan Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 You are correct. It's funny because whenever I ride Mr. Freeze, I always feel especially guilty. In the time it takes me to roll backwards down that skinny exit 'catwalk' to the second or third car and then somehow get my 6'2" frame & size 15 shoes into the vehicle, they always end up running the other train twice. That ride is by far the hardest to get into as someone in a wheelchair (at least between SFSL, HW, Disney, Universal, SFMM, and Cedar Point), and the operators don't even open the gates to load everyone else until I'm fully loaded (I understand why they do it, but it just poops on capacity). Sorry for that random story, but I guess I should also give you some information about the park in it as well...so uhhhh...oh! The bumper cars, which could be seen in a pic or two that I posted in April, are no longer idly (pun intended) in the employee parking lot. They were recently picked up by the Shriners to be turned into go karts for use in different parades!
SFZIP Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) The final (EDIT) three cars have arrived at the ride (EDIT: 7 in total) and it appears to be all hands on deck on the facade (there will likely be major changes to it by the weekend). Edited May 5, 2015 by SFZIP
ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 The final two cars have arrived at the ride (6 in total) and it appears to be all hands on deck on the facade (there will likely be major changes to it by the weekend). Yes! The time is getting closer and closer!
Tuly Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 The final two cars have arrived at the ride (6 in total) and it appears to be all hands on deck on the facade (there will likely be major changes to it by the weekend). Yes! The time is getting closer and closer! I know what you mean, it's happening. I am sure this experience will be very amazing and individual(except for SFOT ). The Mr. Freeze news really excites me. Although random question from me and a few friends, what is the most amount of times you have ridden a roller coaster without getting on a new train. (Mine is 8 on Batman )
prozach626 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Just saying this since no one else mentioned it, happy 500 pages everyone! Keep in mind that we are now at Page 500 while just last August we were at 393 and everything previous was pretty much all the buzz since like 2005 There seems to be a lot of buzz this year regarding JL:BFM and Six Flags St Louis' 2015 Season as a whole That's because at least 50 of those pages were people posting because they were pissed off at me.
ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I wish I was able to see what the inside looks like! I'm pretty sure testing is going on so no pictures anytime soon. I'm just imagining the special effects, 3D imagery, props, and all the other cool things that are going on inside that building. Lucky workers! I'm so jealous of you right now! But it's all cool.
ChrisGraslie Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Is there gonna be any kind of lighting on the facade? Kind of a random question but it seems like it'd be an awesome thing to see at night during Fright Fest or just as it gets darker
Vonni Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Prozach, is your pic the car that you custom ordered that you were talking about?

Kind of a random question but it seems like it'd be an awesome thing to see at night during Fright Fest or just as it gets darker I thought the same thing. I see lamp posts on the outside which might provide some lighting, but I it would be cool if they had different colors flashing all over. This is what excites me about this project because it's full of mystery, well, not that much mystery. LOL. I know I said it a thousands times, but I'm still wondering what that "hidden surprise" will be.
HARLEYGUYJB Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I meant to post this the other day... But I really think the Screaming Eagle is riding the best it has been in several years. I've noticed a lot of newer wood in a few places. I wonder if they'll have any plans on celebrating it's 40th anniversary next season. I remember when this was in full color when I was a kid...would love to see it restored.
SteveStL Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I remember when this was in full color when I was a kid...would love to see it restored. Absolutely! I remember when they used to pump A/C into the queue houses as well. Glad to hear the Eagle is running well.
prozach626 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Prozach, is your pic the car that you custom ordered that you were talking about? Yep, that's it. Not a custom job, though. Just a base model Subaru STI. My only added option was a short throw shifter. I've wanted this model car for 10+ years.

I can imagine what it looked like back in the early days and I agree that it should be restored. Very happy to hear that Screamin' Eagle is running well. It ended up being my favorite ride in the park.
