PKIDelirium Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 http://www.themeparkreview.com/japan2004/cosmoworld10.jpg Dude.... how tall is that damn wheel!?! 300 feet?
PhishyBrewer Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 How is it dark with that sun out? ...oh :?
ECZenith Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Any word on where that proposed Giant Ferris Wheel is supposed to be built in the US? I've gotta check out that LaQua Ferris Wheel.
Immel Man Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 If you're talking about the proposed Voyager wheel, it's going to be built with its own hotel in Las Vegas in the near future: http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/voyager.htm
socalMAN123 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 That's one freakin big ferris wheel. Personally, I'm a wuss, and I don't really like ferris wheels. Especially the really tall ones. ---Brent 8)
Luxo Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 The Voyager Wheel is not Just a Ferris WheelThese wheels have enclosed, air conditioned cabs which can seat up to 20 people. The cabs has a restroom and a service bar with a drink serving attendant. The cabs can configured as a wedding chapel, conference room or normal stadium seating. The once around ride lasts about a half an hour. Every amusement park needs a ferris wheel like that.
Homer Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 With amentities like that, sounds like it is going to be very pricey. But I do agree, every park does need a giant ferris wheel as an icon. Sadly, BGT only has the tiny "Egg Wheel" made by Zamperla inside Land of the Dragons.
Teddymonster Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Yeah, I think I am probably the only person on this site who is afraid of Ferris Wheels. Maybe if they had some sort of buckle or SOMETHING, I wouldn't be so damn scurred. "Lorenzos on Yokohama tires--Bling Bling!" NOTE: Sorry, that's just the song that came to mind.
Nrthwnd Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Yeah, I think I am probably the only person on this site who is afraid of Ferris Wheels. No, you're not The Only One. Raises hand. Stopping at the top of a ferris wheel and then rocking back and forth just un-nerves me. So, I avoid them as much as I can. Same thing happens to me if a coaster stops on the lift hill near the top, for same reason. Instant panic attack. As long as it's in motion, no prob. And now ya know. ~ ~ ~
SteveC Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Stopping at the top of a ferris wheel and then rocking back and forth just un-nerves me. So, I avoid them as much as I can. with you 100% on the rocking ferris wheel issue. The design though looks 'London Eye' - and the cabs on that are 'static' - there is absolutely no sensation of rocking (mainly well...'cause you don't) but fantastic views and just the feeling of rising up high in a very slow moving elevator. Actually- it moves so slow you don't even get that feeling - things just start getting smaller and you can see further. Well worth at least one go
Teddymonster Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 ^^I'm with both of you. As long as I am moving and going fast, heights are no problem for me. I cannot image riding on of those ferris wheel whose gondolas slide. You know what I'm talking about?
waterviper Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 ^ Ya the Sun Wheel at California Adventure and Wonder Wheel at Coney Island!! Those sliding gondolas are fun!! That would be cool if they made a ferris wheel like that huge Voyager ferris wheel with sliding gondolas!!! Wow that would sure be a rush!
Bubba Z Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I like the back drop of that park with all the skyscrapers. This is also home to the coaster Vanish which looks cool visually but not sure if it is exciting? Off to watch the DVD now to check this park out again. Oh here is a shot of the Wonder Wheel. wonder wheel
coaster_type_of_person Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 ^I'm with all y'all, I hate them.
coaster_type_of_person Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I'm with all of you, I hate them.
rollermonkey Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I think the wheel in Odaiba, Tokyo is bigger than the CosmoClock in Yokohama. Japan seems to be the land of Ferris Wheels, sometimes I see a wheel just sitting by itself. For example, the one just west of Tokyo Disney Resort is in a park (trees and grass not amusement) with nothing else. Chris B
Nrthwnd Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Oh, HELL no. I'll pass on this one. LOLOL. Yeah, I would think a bit about it, then say, "thanks but.... nah." But I would think about it. Just 'a bit'.
philcoaster83 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Giant Wheel at Palette Town is bigger, something like 390ft - it tells you on the ride and that it was the largest until 99 when the London Eye opened. but how big were the wheels at Yomiuriland and FujiQ(now that was a nice one)
SharkTums Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 They were all GINORMOUS!!!! "Everyone looks like ants!!!!"
HCOSurfer90 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I LOVED the Wonder Wheel. I love the feeling of rocking back and forth from so high up...and the view is amazing. You can see the city and the Cyclone...yeah its a lot of fun.
Gnome Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 They have one of those observation wheels in London, I've seen it in several Travel Channel shows, and once in last season's (boston rob one) Amazing Race.
