"The kooky dancing grandpa who serves as the icon for Six Flags Inc. is about to be sent into retirement.

Washington Redskins' owner Dan Snyder and his two allies officially took the helm of the troubled theme park operator yesterday after successfully persuading shareholders to oust Chief Executive Kieran Burke and two other board members.

Snyder's team is now poised to move ahead with their turnaround plan, which includes scrapping the mascot known as "Mr. Six" who has been a central part of the company's marketing strategy"

Maybe that explains why I heard the Vegaboys Party Bus song coming from the trolly (with Scooby Doo) at Universal Florida today. I thought that was kinda funny.

They might not change the name of the ride quite yet. I mean think about all of the looney toons stuff at the parks, but when was the last time you saw the Looney Toons in a Six Flags Commercial?

Meh, not surprised. He was simply an advertisment object which DID draw the crowds in. Although he might be gone for now, I really wouldn't be surprised if he was to come back in just a few years.

YAY! I'm sorry but Mr Six scared the crap out of me. I absolutely hated him! But, it's wierd, becuase he's so popular, why would they get ride of him?

I personally didn't see how the ad campaign could last long anyway. It seemed like it was one of those things that was nice and all for one moment but could easily be played out. I think they should keep Mr. Six for at least one more season due to the amount of merchandise made and possibly because the commercials could have been shot already or are in the process.

But they won't have Mr. Six jumping around the park, but you see looney toons jumping around the park. They jump at you, from you, in you, out of you. I mean its just crazy the ammount of jumping they do, and how they do it.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I WANT MR.SIX!!!!!!!!

I vow to never go to another SF park until he returns!!

Oops... I lost my mind for a second there.

Your the Man Now Dogs are stupid, why not just make a movie powerpoint? I'm sure its a heck of a lot easier.

Mr. Six kind of creeped me out.... Plus Six Flags (well SFMW) plastered his face on almost every pole and tree possible, so I got sick of looking at him.

Oh well, some people must have liked him. I bet he will be back eventually if Six Flags can't come up with anything better.

Then why did attendance still fall for the chain in 2004?

Interesting take on Mr Six

I'm mixed on this. I think Mr Six and the Venga Boys provided a catchy ad, something to be remembered, but not the best of ads in the end. All good campaigns come to an end, and Mr. Six will just join the likes of Mikey and the Taco Bell chihuahua.

Attendance has increased this year, but I don't think its due to Mr. Six, rather, improvements in the park experience (and of course GOOD weather )

I'm not gonna miss Mr. Six, but I will miss Mr. Snyder.

I hope they just leave the Gerstlauer spinner as 'Pandemonium'. No need to take down the Mr. Six cardboard cutouts, the rain's probably washed them away by now.

Mr. Six in a marketing example for year 1 of his life was wonderful. The lack of commercials in Six Flags was dwindling, with not one awesome character. So he was brought in. I thought he was good for one year, but this season, he was everywhere. Bobbleheads, t-shirts, stuffed animals, watches, everywhere. It was sickening. I'm a Snyder supporter and sticking to it.

Also, everyone who basically is crying over the loss of Six is 12 and 13 year olds. It just wasnt appeling to adults after last season.

The only crappy thing about this is the new, idiotic, ad campaign - Safe, Clean, Fun Besides only the fun applies for SFMM (some gangs, trash)

if he's going to replace a mildly entertaining ad campaign, he might as well come up with something BETTER, not worse. I'll just be happy if they keep using SFMM in the ad's.

I'm indifferent to this topic of conversation...I would see the guy on T.V. every 4 months but it didn't make me want to the a Six Flags park anymore than I already wanted to. And honestly he kind of creeped me out...I mean look at this picture! WEIRD!

Well, I'm indifferent to this news myself, but all you Six fans take heart. Remember when Jack-in-the-Box blew up the Clown? He came back with a vengeance. Nobody screws with the Clown now! Heck, even the Burger King is back (as one freaky-looking rubberhead).

Now, if they would only bring back the Frito Bandito . . .
