Six Flags [FUN] Corporate Discussion Thread

p. 91: Six Flags and Cedar Fair to enter "merger of equals" agreement, company will still be called "Six Flags"

Recommended Posts

The new Six Flags logo is an insult to my childhood. Couldn't they just keep the original logo? I don't want Snoopy in my parks. He has nothing to do with WB (aside from WB being the distributor of the specials on DVD.) I love Peanuts, but damn.

I think the logo looks very tasteful and more reminiscent of Cedar Fair's logo. After the logo reveal, reading articles, and seeing statements from execs, I am becoming a little optimistic. It looks like they're openly admitting that Six Flags needs to come up to Cedar Fair standards, vs. the other way around. There have been multiple mentions of the former Six Flags being mismanaged. I hope they isolate the comics to the original Six flags parks and keep the clean lines feel of former Cedar Fair parks.

I have my doubts that the Six Flags parks logo will change anytime soon. It doesn't look dated, has brand recognition, and would add a large chunk of additional costs that aren't really necessary immediately.

The new logo is probably going to be simply used for SFEC and maybe, over time, they will update the parks logo to use the CF style modified Gibson Bold font but keep everything else the same. The font is not all too different than the modified ITC Kabel Bold the SF parks logo uses now.

The logo is for the newly formed corporation, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, not the existing park branding.

They are saying that it is unlikely that we will see that logo physically in the parks anywhere. It is the logo for the corporate offices, basically, and the SF parks merging into the new chain will keep their established logos on the ground. It is speculation at this point, of course, but I suspect they are right. I don't know why the new chain would spend money on switching all these out when the one thing the SF side brings above anything else is national brand recognition and those established logos are a big part of that.

^ look at the actual numbers tho.  it's NOT $75

the base Schillterbahn pass you need is the 2 park pass:  $115

the all park add on is: $150  (noted at far bottom right of the above link).

so in reality, the all park pass - if purchased at Schlitterbahn - comes out to:  $265

(which is STILL a great deal, if you plan to go to multiple parks next year).

$183 at Kings Dominion for everything.  All the other Cedar Fair parks are going to be fairly similar.

You'd think Six Flags will have to offer similar pricing. Still haven't seen any rumors/etc on their pricing yet.  Diamond + All Parks add-on for ~185-200 is my guess currently.

I figure legacy SF Memberships will be going bye-bye... so get all the use out of them now, while you still can

I'm one of them, I barely ever go the last handful of years, maybe once or twice a year and mainly only keep it because I pay so little but if they cancel it I won't sign up for anything else so they'll be out on my money completely.

I wonder if they will do it based on pass usage since I've seen other people get price increases on their legacy memberships and I haven't gotten that yet either and wonder if it's because we barely ever go.

And like Zach said above me, even if we only go once or twice a year I'm still coming out ahead with my passes because parking prices are insane.

Where are you getting that number of $150?  It states $75 below in the check box.  Did you request 2 adult passes instead of signing up for 1?

Actually, the all-park is $99.99 at Cedar Point and it was $100 at Knott's last year but I didn't purchase it, but here are similar receipts/orders showing 2024 Knott's vs 2025 Cedar Point, as Knott's doesn't have 2025 passes yet for me.  Prices have not changed much for getting more parks.  The only ripoff was that I didn't get a renewal price because the "Prestige Pass" was new. Big Whoops.  But glad TPR is back!

Also, let's clear this up. Schlitterbahn with all parks is $190. So pretty much the same as all the other parks.

115 for the all park pass, + 150 for the add on = $265

which, I say again, is STILL a great bargain as it includes parking.

but I really don't know where y'all are getting 190 from.

EDIT: unless the site is smart enough to know I'm looking it up from Austin, and is giving me a higher price as I'm much closer to the Schlitterbahn park)

yeah. . weird.

yours is ringing up different than mine.   I guess because I'm so much closer to the park?

You have the prestige pass not the Texas2splash pass.
Not sure if that matters.  I don't see the Gold pass or Prestige pass on the Schlitterbahn website.

If you have a VPN, try a So Cal address and clear your cookies as these are screen shots from these past couple of minutes in Southern California so maybe they are ripping off people in other states?  The date and time are at the bottom right.  I don't know why we are getting different numbers.  Not trying to be difficult.  USA Today was the first to report on it a couple of days ago and they said it was $115 at Schlitterbahn so they got different numbers too.

https://www.ocregister.com/2024/07/30/knotts-and-magic-mountain-to-offer-season-pass-combo-in-2025/

I have to wait a few weeks for my combo Knott's and Magic Mountain pass though per the Orange County California Register if you can't access the article.  No specific price was quoted.  The article babbles on with irrelevant information on what every other chain charges for admission in So Cal but not the 2025 all-park prices for Schlitterbahn or Cedar Point?  Great research!  I am guessing that yealy parks will not get their 2025 pass info until the end of August or just past Labor Day but the prices should be close.

"Knott’s and Magic Mountain will offer a season pass good for both parks in 2025 — but you’ll have to pay for a whole lot of theme park access across North America that you probably don’t need and likely won’t use.

Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain will offer an All Park Passport add-on next year that gets select season passholders into all legacy Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks starting on Jan. 6, according to Knott’s and Six Flags officials.

A Southern California season pass good for only Knott’s and Magic Mountain is not planned at this time.

Prices will be announced in the next few weeks when 2025 season passes and add-ons go on sale at all legacy Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks. ..."

I'm curious to see what kind of changes we'll see at Breakers, if any.

Unless they are remodeling much, Cedar Fair is proving that their takeover of Six Flags isn't changing much on the Cedar Fair side except for the name.  All the top corporate management, the corporate office, pass system, add on prices for all-parks, food packages, drinks packages, premium drinks packages are all transferring Cedar Fair's 2024 policies to 2025.  I think most changes will come on the Six Flags side as they have already added Cedar Fair chaperon policies to Six Flags parks.

My favorite were the stupid YouTube videos of people stating Six Flags passes should not be good at Cedar Fair and vice versus.  I am thinking, really?   So, my Six Flags Magic Mountain Pass will be good at Six Flags over Texas and Six Flags America, but it will not be good at Six Flags Knott’s Berry Farm or Six Flags Cedar Point?  Which Cedar Fair parks will it not be good at since Cedar Fair does not exist once the merger is appoved?  I guess it will take them until Jan 6th to merge the pass/membership systems but after that, it should be one pass system.
