chickenbowl Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Has anybody figured out anything on the Gringott's coaster opening next year? Manufacturer? Layout? Anything interesting? All I could find were these pictures:

Woodie Warrior Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 If anyone is interested, I've posted my trip report to IoA in my trip report thread. The link is in my signature. My favorite ride was Spiderman, with HPFJ a close second.
Woodie Warrior Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 your link isn't working for me I think I fixed it
robbalvey Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Today we were invited to Universal Orlando to check out the new Simpsons "Springfield" expansion which has now officially opened. I have to say that we were completely impressed! If you are a fan of the quirky and awesome Simpsons humor (who isn't?) this new expansion does not disappoint! You'll recognize very iconic Simpsons landmarks you've seen in many episodes, Universal have created 28 new food items specific to the area including Duff Beer, Lard Lad Donuts, Cleatus' Chicken n Waffles, and of course the Flaming Moe. The new family ride "Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl" is full of Simpsons humor! Overall, the new expansion is a huge win for the park! Lets check out some photos... Welcome to Springfield! Let's have a look around the new Simpsons expansion at Universal Studios Orlando! One of these two pictured is flaming. One of them is not. Do you know which is which? Here is the "bar" inside Moe's... Today the pool table will be covered with food. Is that such a bad thing? "I am officially afraid of this machine!" The cupcakes were delicious! Especially the cake batter one with the gooey middle! Yum! When it comes to food in Springfield, Universal made 28 unique items only found in this park! Fantastic! If you know Simpsons, you know how much Homer LOOOOOOVES his donuts! These did not disappoint! Probably one of our personal favorite areas of the new expansion was the "Duff Beer Garden!" Duff Beer was created specially for the park and there is a regular Duff Beer, a Duff Beer Lite, and a darker brew. Lisa's Caprese Salad is Elissa approved! You can get a "Flaming Moe" inside Moe's Tavern as well as at the Duff Beer Garden. It's sort of like a bubbling "Orange Soda" on steroids! Krusty Burgers or Krabby Patties? Which do you prefer? "I tried to give Barney a giant donut... but all he wanted is some more beer!" Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl is filled with awesome Simpsons humor at Universal Orlando! Here is the menu for the Flaming Moe bar. Mike West played a very important role bringing The Simpsons to life, and this new area really shows off the property VERY well! Great job! "Sideshow Bob was spotted in the town, but I tapped him and got some money and XP!" Bumblebee Man food truck! lmao! (The tacos were good, too!) Krusty Burger menu! You will not get buyers remorse if you buy the Ribwich! Kwik-E-Mart was built when The Simpsons ride was originally put in, but it's still just as iconic. "Check it out... it's me and Surely!" Chief Wiggum is always on patrol in Springfield. Elissa pays tribute to one of Springfield's finest! Chicken & Waffles in here were great! "Welcome to Moe's!" Oh, wait... DJeXeL Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 This looks awesome. What does the Flaming Moe taste like?
cfc Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 ^But does it "warm you like a hug"? Springfield looks great--I'm glad Universal has increased the Simpsons' presence in the park.
Barge84 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 That area looks amazing. Glad to see that they gave some love to the Seven Duffs with those fantastic topiaries!Surly is one of my favorite minor characters.
SharkTums Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Surly is one of my favorite minor characters. Same! That's why as soon as I saw him I wanted my picture! Hopefully they'll make walk around characters of them someday!
DJeXeL Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 ^It's like an orange soda. Thanks. This does make me wonder why Springfield wasn't created years ago.

crazydaveh Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Springfield, Springfield, it's a hell of a town... The new expansion is awesome. I'm not really into Potter but we used to record every Simpson's episode on VHS tape (I'm old) and watch the hell out of them. This is awesome for me. I've been in Moe's and have seen other folks my age walk in and have the same look on their face as when their kid sees Potterland. It's an awesome experience for everyone! The Duff Beers are brewed by Florida Brewing out on the east coast. Quality brews. Duff Dry is similar to Orlando Brewing's Backwater Dry Porter. It's very tasty. Quality TR. Thanks for the update!
ThatFalafelGirl Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I cracked up at the heat lamp dog. Truthiness!

Jew Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) The Murderhorn would have been awesome too! ^It's like an orange soda. Thanks. This does make me wonder why Springfield wasn't created years ago. I think anyone who has been a 3rd party developer/builder/etc. to something that belongs to someone else will tell you that it is never an easy process. The person wants to protect their brand, have things done their way, and so on... Edited August 22, 2013 by Jew
DJeXeL Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 ^Understandable and rightfully so. I'm sure it's a lengthy process and I'm glad it finally came to fruition.
ernierocker Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The new area looks great! I'll have to try and make it to Universal next year.
Philrad71 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 This looks awesome, although I am a bit disappointed that the Flaming Moe is non-alcoholic. I wonder when they'll add the 'Tooth Chipper' or 'The Little Land of Duff' to the ride line-up?
robbalvey Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 This looks awesome, although I am a bit disappointed that the Flaming Moe is non-alcoholic. To be fair, they have THREE different beers. As much as some of us may want them to, they can't make everything for adults. Just be happy the drink is actually pretty good for what it is!
Philrad71 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 ^ I agree...it's better that they have something that everyone can try versus just an adult version. Just wish that they might have offered both an adult and a non-alcoholic version. Definitely curious to try the Duff beer...did you happen to try any?

I actually think both an adult and non-alcoholic version was discussed, but if you can only imagine the abuse that could possibly take place on something like that, it's risky. The beer is from Florida Brewing Co. and it's quite good! It's not a "bud light" or anything. It is actually made by a local brewing company and it's decent!
