Superbatboy Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 New street level photo courtesy of Great Adventure Online. Oh man, this looks great at the beach! Perfect addition
boldikus Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 If anyone is bored and feels like watching paint dry they are currently knocking out a ton of supports on the other side.
SFOG1991 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 ^Watching. Slow Friday at work! This addition is going to finally get me to do all the parks along the east coast.
boldikus Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Local news did a little piece tonight on 2016 additions @ Playland (and Moreys), featuring a few quick upclose shots of construction and track. Most notable info contained therein? They are aiming for a Memorial Day weekend opening for Gale Force. Its also mentioned that weather has been slowing them down. http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Jersey-Shore-Prepares-for-the-Upcoming-Summer-Season_Philadelphia-370314761.html
boldikus Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Interestingly, they have the train on the track.
TB305 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 ^They've just started to lift a piece in to place as well!
boldikus Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 They've been hammering away at the supports on the other side. Train remains, all wrapped up for now. I'm excited to see more track go in place.
boldikus Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 ^ Yeah I figured that as well once they did it. And yeah so far only one train has appeared, so it would seem that's all they are getting.
boldikus Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 While they have been steady knocking out supports all week, I'm not sure we'll see much get done today. Yesterday. This thing is gonna be funky (in the best way possible) Today.
boldikus Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 It's your regular friendly Gale Force construction update. More funky supports and pieces of track have gone in.
boldikus Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 ^ Its gorgeous here. Going up to 60 and feels like spring! Supposed to get nicer as the week goes on, almost 80 on Thursday (WTF). I'm sure they'll crank out a bunch over the next few days. They are currently installing the next piece of track, which I believe will lead up to the top hat.
coneyislandchris Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Just rode my first triple launcher yesterday at SFDK, so if this model is half as fun as the Sky Rocket model was, I can foresee myself spending a lot of quality time down the boardwalks this summer.
KBrylczyk Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 ^ After speaking with one of the engineers about this project, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say Gale Force is going to be much more intense than a Sky Rocket. I'm not trying to knock the Sky Rockets, though, as I think they're excellent rides. They're incredibly fun and weird. This S&S version, though, will be a different type of experience that focuses much more on terrifying amounts of negative Gs. Sky Rockets really only had one big pop of air while this thing will be almost nonstop.
neil009 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 As excited as I am for this new ride, I am going to miss their old coasters, particularly the looping one. That thing was thoroughly in the "so bad it's good" zone. Had a couple brutal moments to it that I loved.

Tempesto had me pushed down into my seat the entire ride. Very forceful.

This is basically going to launch you into a bunch of twisted airtime hills. edit: double post. Whoops.
jedimaster1227 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Construction looks to finally be picking up pace! I'm anxious to see how the finished product turns out.
DoinItForTheFame Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Sometimes I forget this coaster is even being built. It looks like a great addition to the park. Hopefully these will catch on and more smaller parks will get them.
Superbatboy Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 It's looking good, who's winning the Jersey compact coaster race? Havent seen an update for Joker in a while
boldikus Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 ^ I'd say GreatAdv at this point. Last Joker update was over a week ago and they had almost reached the top shelf. Wish we had a webcam there to see how far along they are at the moment.
boldikus Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 I think we might see the top hat go in today.
