Password121 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Knocking an old tread here, but now that Fury's closing in on year two a lot of people have gotten down to Carowinds and it seems as though maybe 1/3 of those on this board that have ridden (from TR's and reviews) say Fury 325 is their favorite coaster, if not at the very least in their top 5. Is Fury 325 B&M's best work, and is it worthy of #1? I haven't been to Carowinds so I'm curious.
Rill'o'beily Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 ^since you revived the thread ill join If mack is gonna get any gigs to build coasters in the states, they'll probably go up the charts far as well, cause at this point Mack is basically the new schwartzkopf with the innovative designing and amazing forceful coasters. the top 3 coasters in my count are mack coasters: (in no particular order) Helix, Lost Gravity and Blue Fire (but not the clones). And only one of the top 10 is a b&m. (Im sure there would be more if i had ridden maybe dragon khan, shambhala or kumba but i haven't so...) Like mack has been kind of there just making quality wild mouses and powered coasters for a while with the exception of blue fire and a few spinners but when they started building more and more water coasters, spinners, mega coasters, and now all the new stuff they've come out with they're becoming a big force in the industry.
I love pie Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 With the addition of fury and mako, it seems like B&M is making their airtime more intense. Maybe in a few years well see ejector airtime machines.
grsupercity Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 As long as Intamin is making rides, and B&M continues to use those horrible vest restraints they will never top my charts. The best Beemer I've ridden outside of inverts is fury. And Fury doesn't Crack my top 3. Fury is fun, but it's there best coaster and it should never be number 1
cfc Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 The best rides that B&M has built over the last few years are Fury and Banshee. The only B&M in my top ten is Nemesis. Fury and Banshee could crack my top 25 somewhere, I think.

cfc Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Haven't ridden Valravn (I do like Dive Machines), but I don't care for Gatekeeper (or the other Wing Coasters, for that matter).
Password121 Posted July 31, 2016 Author Posted July 31, 2016 Valravn is a good dive coaster, but it's surrounded by vastly superior rides in the same park. I'm a fan of Gatekeeper but it doesn't belong in the same conversation of the best rides B&M has ever built, let alone of the best in the world. It's not even the best B&M in the park, frankly.
gerstlaueringvar Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Lots of people are loving their new coasters and yeah, everything is possible!

I personally didn't like Raptor much, probably because of my height. Rougarou was fun like all B&Ms are, but there isn't really anything special. Valravn is my second favorite B&M in the park, the actual ride feels pretty short to me.
Jcoaster Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Fun and reliable rides? Yes. Chart toppers? I'm going to go with no. Intamin, RMC and Mack really have been pushing the envelope when it comes to coasters. What I'd like to see from B&M is a vertical lift looper with short trains and clamshell restraints....A man can dream right?
BigBad Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Fury 325 was 4th on the Golden Ticket list in its debut year, when to-be-top-ranked coasters tend to be ranked lowest (Magnum outranked MF in 2000, for instance). I wouldn't be surprised if it gets the top spot this year, except that MF has the edge of mystique.

I haven't personally rode Fury 325, but if there was a B&M to top the Golden Tickets it seems like it would be the one.
coasterkid124 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 B&M is definitely improving, but may not ever reach the top. They just have not built anything that has wowed a lot of people like Maverick, Skyrush, El Toro, etc. have. Fury was amazing, and so have been their other recent builds, but until they can innovate or push the envelope like some other companies have, they won't reach the top of my charts. They may build the smoothest, most reliable, highest capacity, yada yada best for business coasters, but topping enthusiast charts is a different story. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fury top Golden Ticket Awards. To me, it's a solid top 10 coaster (like Millennium Force is to me), but GTA is a Cedar Fair slobber fest. They just don't offer the type of poll that Mitch Hawker did. I really wish he would either bring it back or someone would start up something similar!
Jpizzle Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I agree that they will probably never top the charts, but I really do love their flyers! Manta is up their as one of my favorite coasters. They haven't really been pushing the envelope with them recently though . . . .
ShaneH Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Fury 325 will win the GTAs before 2020. Placing in the top 5 in its first year is very promising.
prozach626 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Fury tops my chart, which is all that matters to me.
DILinator Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Fury tops my chart, which is all that matters to me. Ditto! (And, FWIW, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets there "officially" too, soon!)
grsupercity Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Yes a beemer will top gp polls, but not us coaster nerd polls
JordyC Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Yes a beemer will top gp polls, but not us coaster nerd polls So true
DILinator Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yes a beemer will top gp polls, but not us coaster nerd polls So true Actually... Not only does Fury top this "coaster nerd's" poll, it is leading at another coaster nerd's site that will not be named's poll. Additionally, I was referring to the likelihood it tops the Golden Ticket Award poll at some point, which is voted on by coaster nerds. It's an amazing coaster, and very deserving of all the praise, and "poll-topping" it gets! B&M and all!
fraroc Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Sometimes, I feel that most of the complaints about B&M dominating the American coaster market is based in jealousy of the fact that a lot of parks overseas are beginning to get a lot of newer "X-Treme" coasters by manufacturers like Intamin and Mack while those two manufacturers seem to have been passing over our country. I mean, I will fully admit, sometimes I do get a bit jealous when I look at a coaster like Flying Aces or Flash at Lewa Adventure and say "Man, wouldn't that be cool if a coaster like that was built in the U.S?" But then again, I always tell myself that you never know what's going to happen in the future when it comes to U.S coasters. I mean, with the way RMC one day just burst onto the scene, really anything can happen....
gerstlaueringvar Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 ^In the case of Flash, or Lightning, it is definitely not as good as how it looks in the video. So does the Intamin hyper at Wanda Nanchang. Just my personal opinion though, not enough people have been on these two to to actually make a difference on rankings.

It's an amazing coaster, and very deserving of all the praise, and "poll-topping" it gets! B&M and all! Then in my personal poll it will never top the charts lol. I have ridden fury alot. Its a great ride, it just will never ever be my number 1. Beemer makes a very solid ride. Smooth, graceful, reliable, people eater. There rides just dont give me that oh shit hang on feeling I want and desire. We all follow the amusements for our own reasons and we all have our own taste. That is what makes this hobby neat. It is interesting to see how much peoples opinions vary. Some people like balls out intensity of Intamin and some people like the big and graceful B&M's. Some people like loops, some people like heights with large drops, some people like airtime, and some like quick snappy transitions. .02
DILinator Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 ^ Yeah, the thing is though, Fury IS intense, and "balls to the wall", and I say that valuing coasters like Maverick and Storm Chaser highly in that department as well! I guess my point, is that there send to be a prevalent stereotyping of B&M's a certain way in enthusiast circles, and I think that's settling the company short. They DO make intense coats, and more importantly, FUN coasters, which is what puts a coaster at the top of the charts anyway!
