AmyUD06
Unlike the American Dream, this actually has a chance at staying open past a year, if it does ever open.

1aflack
I live about 20 miles away from this plot of land and it's in such a busy road location. It's located near to the Dartford crossing on the M25 which apart from the other side of the M25 where the junction is to the M4 is (Legoland is located here) is probably one of the busiest motorway sections in Europe. It looks like they will build a new bridge or tunnel crossing a few miles down the road but this could be 10 years away. Maybe they see all the passing traffic as a good thing but I'm not sure how many families would see it as a positive, fighting there way back though the traffic at the end of the day. larrygator
https://www.devonlive.com/news/uk-world-news/first-look-35-billion-uk-3614887 First look at £3.5 billion 'UK Disney World' theme park The stunning attraction will cover the size of 136 Wembley Stadiums ByZara Whelan Jamie Hawkins 10:17, 6 DEC 2019 The London Resort Castle, with rides sitting behind it (Image: The London Resort) New pictures show stunning plans for the UK version of Disneyland which is set to open in the South East. The theme park, which is due to open in five years time, is set to rival Disney World in terms of scale, with developers revealing it will cover the size of 136 Wembley Stadiums. It will open at Swanscombe Peninsula - between Gravesend and Dartford - and is billed as one of the most ambitious park projects ever in Europe, Manchester Evening News reports. Park bosses have also announced a partnership with EDF Energy with plans to make it the most sustainable theme park in the work with a Net Zero emissions goal. And it will be the first development of its kind in Europe to be built from scratch since the opening of Disneyland Paris in 1992. Fresh images show next generation" rides and experiences - with the final product compromising of a two park resort, with the first opening in 2024 and the second expected in 2029, reports Kent Live . What to expect First look at The London Resort set to open in 2024 (Image: The London Resort) The London Resort is set to have six islands, each with their own dedicated theme - with 70% of the attractions under cover. The names of the six lands being created, as well as a High Street, are Starport, The Jungle, The Isles, The Kingdom, The Woods and The Studio. The entrance to the resort will be via a grand plaza that leads hotel guests and visitors through a High Street which will be bustling with shops, restaurants, hotels, a convention centre and a waterpark. Visitors can start their journey in The Studios, a modern-day warehouse district that will be showing big blockbusters. Head north to The Woods, an enchanted realm where springtime reigns eternal and the boundary between reality and fantasy dissolves. Here guests can step through the pages of a storybook and embark on adventures that put a spin on beloved fairy tales. The entrance to The London Resort (Image: The London Resort) From the Woods, the journey continues through the ages into The Kingdom, an enchanted realm of swords, sorcery, dragons and legend. Here is England, but not as you know it - a dark and ancient land with threatening and imposing castles and mystical Arthurian legends. The Isles will be a land of giant creatures, mythical beasts and adventures at the crossroads of imagination and reality. The Jungle island is where past blends with the future as ancient ruins of a long-lost Mesoamerican civilisation are seen pushing up through treetops. The final land, dedicated to futuristic experiences, alien encounters and big thrill rides, The Starport is a bustling 23rd century landing zone. It will launch visitors into thrilling science-fiction adventures, leaving them mesmerised at things that should be impossible. PY Gerbeau, chief executive of London Resort Company Holdings, said: “We are creating a first-class theme park. A destination that maximises all the new, immersive and interactive technologies and experiences in the world. Map showing the six areas at The London Resort (Image: The London Resort) “But we won’t just be creating a world class leisure destination, it will also be one of the most sustainable theme parks on the planet. “We have three guidelines we work to when it comes to developing attractions. Number one is innovation. We’re not here to copy what’s been done before even if it has been successful. "Number two is relevance. We need to consider that the customers of today will not be the customers of 2024. "And the third is flexibility. We need to create a park that can evolve and adapt easily." Earlier this year it was revealed that £70 million has already been spent on the park prior to any work starting. The massive project is expected to rival that of Disneyland in Paris in terms of sheer scale, but also with a number of well-known hotel brands - including Raddison Blu who signed up back in August. coasterbill
The theme park, which is due to open in five years time, is set to rival Disney World in terms of scale You mean like how the other horses rivaled Secretariat in the Belmont Stakes? Isn't Disney World like 40 square miles? Edited December 9, 2019 by coasterbill

This is one of those projects I've heard about for so long that at this point I'm not got gonna believe anything until the place is actually open. Looks cool, but we'll see if it ever happens. Baffles
It has been interesting to see various media completely screw up the initial press release. They clearly think 'Disney World' and Disneyland Paris are the same thing, which the latter is what they are basing the claim on. If the second gate does open a few years later then it may be a similar size.. but they shouldn't get ahead of themselves. There are some good people behind the project now, so as long as the finance and planning process go through okay, we should be good. Will certainly give Merlin a kick up the ass which the UK really needs. No more rides based around horror!
Shockwave
If anyone's vaguely interested, the planning application has been withdrawn, and will apparently be resubmitted later in 2022.
