Ed Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Woo. Free ERT on Kumali this saturday. And I even got a £5 discount on getting in. (Thanks Flamingoland!) This ride looks really cool, and i've been ordered to quote "as smooth as a baby's bottom" on video When it's all completed the ride should be ace! Just a shame the weather has been appauling in the UK since... October? I erally wish it would warm up! 10 degrees in April is a joke.
mudvayneimn Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I watched the hand held POV of Kumali on ukrides, and it had none of the characteristics of a jerky slc pov lol. And in the photos with the close-ups of the train in the station, there doesn't look to be any spaces between the track and wheels! link: http://www.ukrides.info/flkumali.htm[/url]
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Looks fantastic (will look even better when the theming's completed). Hopefully I'll make the 4 hour trek up to Flamingoland later in the year. The park has already come along in leaps and bounds since my first visit in 2004. It's turning into a 'true' theme park and is no longer a glorified fun fair. Do you think you could try to get a POV for me? If you can thanks!
CP_RULES Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Is it just me, or is Kumali's paint the type of color that makes it already look faded? Especially in this pic:
kaliboiryda510 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Yea it looks like a greyish-blue... But hey i like the short but good layout!! Is the drop higher than all the other SLC's?? Im assuming so. What is the other ride that has a 0g roll? Does anyone have a POV on that one?
martinb Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I've heard of many people thats it's started to become a good ol' SLC, apparantly the worst bit is coming out of the cobra roll!
Kumali- Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Ok i know coasters do rust but it can be a serious issue ! The ride has been open about 4 months and rust is clearly acutally making a big impact on the track which if the rust goes through it could collapse ! I just never seen rust progress this bad so soon and what will happen through-out winter! Theres also some on other parts which are worse.
gisco Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 The only problem I see with it is that it is unsightly at the moment. It looks like someone forgot to treat the welds after they were welding. Untreated metals can rust in a day. It takes a long time for corrosion to set in and that’s when you have a problem. That could take many years depending on the composition of the steel used.
phazan Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Yeah, I don't think you have to worry about Kumili for a while! Welds always look like that, and I don't see any other places with rust on the track.
trustkill22 Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Dont worry about collapse though because if it gets bad enough Flamingoland probaly will keep an eye on it. Remember, Coasters go through numerous tests. edit- Ya after looking at the picture again it looks like just touch up welds not painted over
Jon Sabo Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Those are some serious welding issues. Almost looks like they heated the metal too much and deformed the connections. I wonder if there was an inspection on that.
TheStig Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Those are just welds. Usuially welding scortches the metal, and in this case the paint too. My question is why are they welding after the paint has already been applied? Maybe insufficiant welding at the factory? Its kinda odd... Colin C
robbalvey Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Um, yeah...those just look like pretty standard welds to me. It's also hard to tell in your pics because they look like low-res video grabs. I mean, I actually stood RIGHT NEXT to those peices of track just a few weeks ago and nothing ever stood out to me as out of the ordinary. You can see some of them here: It really just looks like they had to go back and touch up some welds and didn't get a chance to paint over them. I don't think it's anything at all to worry about. Looks very normal to me. --Robb
Kumali- Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Thanks for clearing it up , i never thought of it although everyone else did lol. Well i did'nt really know but thanks EVERYONE for helping
jamesdillaman Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 More importantly, WHAT does it suck? -James Dillaman
Worm Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 ha lol... it doean't suck! I bet you havnet even ridden it yet!
WillMontu Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 He's still upset with them pulling out the Schwarzkopfs
Ed Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 To be fair, Magnum Force was rough as hell, and The Bullet left you a few centimetres sorter... Stupid Accordian restraints!
ParkTrips Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 Why does it suck? It's at Flamingoland. Flamingoland sucks. Why does Flamingoland suck? See Will's post... anyone who replaces Schwarzkopfs with Vekoma rides is no friend of mine.
chavslayer Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I used to love Magnum Force, i think it was better than Kumali and the Bullet. I think the removal of the Bullet a good thing because in my opinion they replaced it with a better ride but i think they should have kept Magnum.
SharkTums Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 ^I'm pretty much the opposite of that statement! I found Magnum Force to be rough, boring, and had very poor operations. Bullet on the other hand was so much fun, unique, and could have been moved anywhere else in the park!
DerekRx Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I didn't really care for Magnum Force, especially with its stupid restraints. As sad as I was not having Bullet to ride this time, both Kumali AND Velocity were really a lot of fun, both better than Magnum Force, and more comfortable! Yeah Joe, I rode Bullet and Magnum Force AND Kumali and Velocity!
