Corkscrewed Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I knew that refresh bot I programmed to latch onto the site would be handy! In all seriousness, congrants, Robb and Elissa. It's good to know all that bandwidth money goes towards something. But I'm wondering why the bleep SIX FLAGS is #1. You'd think it'd be like Disney or something. If only Six Flags' gate numbers were like their web numbers... then they wouldn't have to worry about debt!
robbalvey Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 ^ Well, the one major that I'm sure would be #1 if it were in that category is "Walt Disney World." Oddly enough, the WDW site seems to fall under "Film & Television Studios - Disney" because I think it's part of the Disney Studio's website. --Robb
CoasterFanatic Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 But I'm wondering why the bleep SIX FLAGS is #1. You'd think it'd be like Disney or something. If only Six Flags' gate numbers were like their web numbers... then they wouldn't have to worry about debt! Alexa groups everything by domain and since Six Flags hosts all their holding under one domain, then naturally they would be number one. This is the same reason why the Paramount Parks are so low. This type of ranking also gives an extra boost to sites like Coasterbuzz.com because they host multiple sites on the same domain name (badnitris, kennywoodboulevard, etc). In my case, I am trying to keep mine from falling since moving whentoride.com to it's own domain. So far the site is holding up on it's own.
robbalvey Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 ^ It's a bummer that I need to have our videos hosted on other 'storage' sites. =( If I could find that amount of bandwidth in one place for the price I get now, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I have yet to be able to find that good of a deal.... --Robb "Any suggestions?" Alvey
robbalvey Posted October 2, 2005 Author Posted October 2, 2005 And today, somehow we managed to rank above Busch Parks!?! http://www.alexa.com/browse?&CategoryID=218 Thanks everyone!!!
AllisonY2K Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 well you said to hit "refresh" 100,000 times......
Mr.Six Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I just now noticed this topic (sry) Wow! Way to go TPR! _six
Homer Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Great... now I know whats better thanks to Alexa! TPR > My Homepark (BGT)
kenshinmac Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 OMG you guys own... Now we just need to pass the disney parks then the world will be ours... I mean Robbs. Not that I intend to overthrow anyone... No... Not at all... (Laughs Manically... Yet still has no idea what this post was really about.)
Nrthwnd Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) Um, with the sudden Burst of Onliners yesterday late afternoon (over 1300, mm'yes) - does that b-b-bump the numbers up for Ye Olde Website Standing??? Thought I'd enquire - with hope. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ V re: digg.com? Not knowing about...? Well, now ya do, LOL! Edited October 6, 2005 by Nrthwnd
robbalvey Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 ^ I don't know. But apparently someone had posted a link to the SFNO flooded photos to www.digg.com and it generated like 1,300 visitors in about an hour! I had never even heard of digg.com! --Robb
jackskellington101 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 ^Right. Digg.com is a slashdot style thing which it's tech news source, but it also promotes stories as more members of the site "digg" the story. The more "diggs", the higher the story comes up on the site. If your a tech geek and avid Tech TV watcher like myself, the site was partially created by Kevin Rose of Screen Savers fame.
Red Benny Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I've been here on and off for 2 years now and I can think of no other coaster site I would rather visit. In fact I don't think I can even name another coaster site other than rcdb.com.
ParkTrips Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 How long has the site been under 10,000? Thanks Fantazy Land, I guess. Still hard to believe a "roller coaster fansite" would be up that high... Oh, and congrats of course
martinb Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 After browsing some other coaster fan sites, I've realised that this place really is the best, well done to Robb & Elissa, -Martyn
CP_RULES Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Holy crap! We knocked out CP.com! Haha, like I care.
robbalvey Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 How long has the site been under 10,000? Thanks Fantazy Land, I guess. Still hard to believe a "roller coaster fansite" would be up that high... Oh, and congrats of course We've actually been hovering around 10,000 for a while now. The first time we dipped under was when we had the flooded Six Flags New Orleans photos and then now the Fantazy Land photos. It's been mostly in part to our awesome readers who continue to post these great "interesting" (how else do you say totally messed up, random insanity?) trip reports that IMO sets us apart. See! Our random fun and sense of humor pays off! --Robb "Now if only a Kim Possible thread could launch us even farther..." Alvey
kennywood!007 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Woot! This is great, congradulations Robb! Now lets get it to Numero Uno! -Zack-
alpengeist04 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 IMO, Theme Park Review is already #1. Ok, I'm now done with the brief butt kissing.
J man Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Wow #7 out of all the Theme Park sites on the net!!! Good job guys.
apollo210 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 This site is way better than those sites before it (except Cedar Point, the site makes it look good)!
