cfc Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 ^I liked it. The launch is insane, and there's dome great airtime over that first hill. The trains do tend to shake a bit, though. Not a great coaster, but a very good one.
rctneil Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 The bullet coaster was pretty cool. Excellent launch, airtime on first drop is insane but I did notice a lot of lateral shaking, not violent but was a constant left to right shake.
larrygator Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 A liked Bullet Coaster but the seat backs were a little odd. There is little contour to the seat back to keep you sitting upright. While your butt is firmly planted in the seat your upper body sways side to side.
_koppen Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Thank you for you're thoughts, really appreciate it!
simon8899 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Looks like an unique trip you had - fascinating and scary at times...
Gutterflower Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Hey you made the news in China http://news.xinmin.cn/shehui/2012/09/21/16426019.html Rough (see: very bad) translation below (thanks to google) Photo: roller coaster control roller coaster for Happy Valley scoring Hubei Daily News - 35 roller coaster enthusiasts from the United States, Asia's largest racing wooden roller coaster" wood wing Ssangyong "and 720-degree ring yesterday in Happy Valley, Wuhan the rollercoaster" They rode a series of more than a dozen rounds, experience, shooting. Moose Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Awesome photo, I'm guessing that is one that Robb or Hanno took? This was a great day. Many thanks to TPR and the park!
robbalvey Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 ^ I think this is one the parks photographer took.
Nrthwnd Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 "Reporter into a melting Hing..." I love translations!
MrSum1_55 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 I feel like I have to ask: How was the Knight Valley Wood Coaster? Did the trip members think it lived up to the hype?
cfc Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 I thought it was one of the better GCIs (there's a surprising amount of airtime). The setting really helps, too. That being said, Knight Valley is, well, a rather odd park.
Nrthwnd Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 The Knight Valley coaster was awesome! The rest of the park? Well, it was a workout, to say the least. Unfortunately, their cable skyride system was closed for maintenance, and only some 'up' escalators (as well as a few 'down') were running, so there was a good deal of walking and climbing to be done thru this (what I call) "Levelled Park", lol. Add to that a few e-ticket type attractions were down as well (Centre of Earth and Flume?), so that bummed me out, if only for a few min. But we got some great views at the top, and found another Pizza Hut in the "village" to lunch our worked-out muscles away, lol. And another fave - Starbucks! I was in Franchise Heaven that day. I would go back for this coaster. It traversed the mountain awesomely, with a couple of airtime surprises, and wicked turns in it, as well. And I would also hope everything else in the park is up and running for my first time ride, etc. (Here's hoping....for 2016, lol)
Chip422 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) I thought the Knight Valley Coaster was excellent, fast, plus airtime, and nicely placed "mid" mountain. It was better then I thought it would be. The park on the other hand, was like Chuck said, Strange. I think the disappointment for me was the Flume ride not operating. I have never seen such an extensive flume ride experience. I think we were told the ride had 6 drop sections, and 2 reverse points. Maybe too much ride to maintain. Really unique though, and worth going back for! Edited October 17, 2012 by Chip422
Nrthwnd Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 ^ I was so willing to get totally WET that day, and I kept watching that empty boat at the top of the lift hill...and it never moved, all day . I even watched it from the top of the mountain, when we got up there, LOL! Yes, definitely worth a re-visit.
Voxelmatic Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 This looked like a great trip! I hope to go on a TPR tour soon. Although not in China yet, because I still aren't willing to risk any sort of bodily damage from those knock-offs!
larrygator Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 The water ride at Knight Valley is the only one I was willing to partake in. But no big deal that I missed it since I rode so many coasters on the trip.
zottewoef81 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 For the people that don't have access to the Beijing china forum (or don't visit it anymore), here's a little movie I made. Once again, sorry for the bad quality.
robbalvey Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Want another China Trip POV? How about Hair Raiser at Ocean Park! Check this out...
Guy T. Koepp Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Wow! That thing looks surprisingly forceful. And that bunny hop looks like some actual ejector air on a B&M. What tha what? Guy "Tell me I'm seeing things!" Koepp
Voxelmatic Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 B&M is making forceful rides again? It really is the end of the world!
robbalvey Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Wow! That thing looks surprisingly forceful. And that bunny hop looks like some actual ejector air on a B&M. What tha what? Guy "Tell me I'm seeing things!" Koepp No, it actually was a really decent airtime hill! The ride wasn't quite as forceful as lets say a Batman or anything, but for recent B&Ms it was really good! Like REALLY GOOD! Both this and Starry Night Ripper/Sky Scrapper really surprised me! Especially after being incredibly let down by OzIris, Wild Eagle, and Raptor. --Robb
rctneil Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Hair Raiser is a great ride. I had heard bad things about before I rode but it really didn't disappoint. Yes, it had a very slight shake to it but overall I loved it and wouldn't go back to Hong Kong without making a trip to Ocean Park to reride it.
MrSum1_55 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 ^^I would say that is true for Asia. However, that does not seem to be true for US and Europe parks. Maybe the Asian parks are requesting more intense rides?
larrygator Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 ^^I would say that is true for Asia. However, that does not seem to be true for US and Europe parks. Maybe the Asian parks are requesting more intense rides? No need to use the word "maybe"
azza29 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Wow - add that one to my bucket list for sure! Thanks for another very professional POV Robb - love that you guys make plenty of noise while riding, adds great atmosphere to the video. Photography nerd question - what lens did you use for this one?
