P. 322: "Georgia Gold Rusher" announced for 2025

Recommended Posts

Splashwater falls to be replaced by 4D coaster.

Is that more than 30 years old? By my math it's 30 years even though I guess technically even 30 years and a few months would qualify. That would make a ton of sense though, plus one less splash boat in the world the better. They have a water park included with admission now and 2 better water rides.

No way Mind Bender is going anywhere.

I REALLY hate to say this, but I think it might be the Sky Buckets. How come? Well, where does one of the stations sit? Lickskillet. What used to be in Lickskillet but has now been essentially removed this season? WhistleStop Park. The playground that used to be there is now in Boomtown, and word on the street is that the train ride has been SBNO for a couple of seasons now. That is the ideal spot for a new attraction since that section of the park is now pretty dead.

Of course I'd be pretty sad (or rather, my feet would be pretty sad haha) that Sky Buckets could go away, because it is a GREAT mode of transportation across a VERY hilly park. At least we still have a train though to cover that need.

If you're right then that's nothing more than a cost cutting measure. I could see it, but the ride isn't in the way of anything. They could easily just build right behind it. 99.9% of the ride is over a midway so it doesn't take up any valuable space.

Then again Six Flags Great Adventure runs the same buckets (originally from Six Flags Great America) so they might be thinking of sending them there for spares / parts because they're cheap like that.

God I'd be so pissed...

Maybe they could just build a Deja vu 2.0?

I hope they don't RMC GASM, Cyclone is the one that needs it.

THIS. It really would be the cherry on top of a decent lineup of coasters, especially with what they've just done to Ninja. They should leave GASM alone, its fine (and fun) the way it is. I also hope its not that damn Mine Train, I liked that ride way more than I should have. The Sky Buckets would be a shame too, some great views from up there since it basically goes up and over a giant hill, and a nice way to avoid walking that terrain.

Full disclosure: I was thinking about a return trip to Georgia so I could do HITP later this year! LOL. I wanna go back. It was such an easy and quick trip I wanna do it again.

I had that same thought actually. We'll be a few hours away in North Carolina for Christmas and I'd imagine with Blue Hawk's renovation they'll have all coasters open for the event.

Not if they lay a finger on Sky Buckets though. Christmas would be ruined.

I can't see it being Monster Mansion simply because not only did it open with the park, but it also just got a renovation a few years ago. I feel like it it was that or one of the original rides, the park would have said "a ride that opened with the park." The fact that they mentioned 30+ years specifically makes me think it is Splashwater Falls simply because the other two water rides are a lot more popular, and Splashwater Falls sits on prime real estate, but that's just my opinion.

If Mind Bender is the one they're talking about, I'm sure the backlash would be even greater than when Whizzer at Great America was going to be removed.

Notice I didn't even mention Mindbender?

If the park is even considering taking out Mindbender I will walk the freaking Appalaccian Trail down there so I can flip the entire park over with my bare hands.

Edit/update: please tell me they are just messing with us. https://www.instagram.com/p/BGnOMvTy4vz/

I saw that too, hopefully the park is just trolling us like CP did with their RMC.

Possible Candidates that are 30+ years:

Mine Train 1967

GASM 1973

Mind Bender 1978

Railroad 1967

Hanson Cars 1967

Sky Buckets 1968

Logs 1968

Carousel 1972

Bumper Cars 1973

Thunder River 1982

Splashwater Falls 1986

Monster Mansion 1967

I'm guessing Splashwater Falls is history and we'll see a S&S 4D Free Fly installed there. I'm wondering if this is the year Six Flags installs two of those in their parks. SFSL could be the other park to get one.

There is quite a bit of land just across the train tracks for Splash Water Falls (see image below with a rough outline of some usable land).

There are some service roads back there - but SFOG did get quite creative with Goliath.

And 2017 is the park's 50th Anniversary...

Please no, can we actually get something unique?

Also I doubt they'd announce something this early if it was just an S&S Free Fly. Those do not take long to build at all. I think this is something big. Plus the capacity on those Free Fly's is atrocious.

You're probably getting a free spin. Six Flags isn't going to spend the money on a custom coaster that takes up a ton of room. It's entirely inconsistent with their current business model.

Oh... then never mind. I'm sure they'll spend recklessly. You only turn 50 once right????? Hopefully it's an Intamin giga.

PS: Nobody cares if it's a park's anniversary except enthusiasts.

^^ Just because they are announcing a ride is closing doesn't mean they won't wait until late Aug/Sept to announce what is going in its place. We'll likely be left to speculate until then. Also, you think this park cares about capacity? The park that just put VR on their lowest capacity "big" coaster? LOL. A free spin would fit perfect and would make total sense.

If they go with a Free Fly I will be massively let down, but I'll still have a few other coasters at the park worth riding and it's still my current home park. Still sucks to see so many Six Flags parks getting RMCs the last few years only to get skipped yet again especially since we haven't gotten a major coaster at SFOG in years since DDD.
