P. 322: "Georgia Gold Rusher" announced for 2025

Recommended Posts

Honestly, I would most like Dahlonega Mine Train removed, because of the roller coasters operating for 30+ years, that is the roughest. Plus it takes up a lot of space

Agreed it takes up a nice plot of land but rough? I didn't find it rough in the slightest. It mostly meanders around, and goes like 35 mph tops lol, which is the last two seconds through the tunnel. I feel like an ass defending a mine train but I think its awesome and would be a shame if they lost such a classic.

I feel like an A$$ defending a mine train but I think its awesome and would be a shame if they lost such a classic.

If you ever feel like an a$$ for a defending a mine train just remember I'm out there somewhere defending a sky ride.

I don't think it will be Monster Plantation as it was completely redone in 2009. It (in it's former role as Tales of the Okefenokee) was one of the original rides at the park and other than Disney, it is the world's largest animatronic-based family dark ride (remember reading this and checked wikipedia to see if I was correct.)

I hope it is not the Mine Train as that was the first roller-coaster in the park and is a GREAT first coaster for smaller kids.

I really don't think they would touch the Mindbender - SFoG has always known it had a gem there.

Splashwater Falls, however, opened when I worked there (and now I feel SUPER OLD,) and hasn't been open the last several times I've gone to the park. It looks rough and only has a few boats left. I think that is what they could get rid of.

please please please please please don't let it be MindBender

Splashwater Falls just got a new sign this year with the DC Super Friends area; something's telling me they wouldn't put in much effort in signage if it was going to be closed.

^ Cyclone at SFNE got a new sign the year it closed too. They put money into that, so I wouldn't be so sure of it. Plus there's other rides in the chain named Splashwater Falls so they could bring the sign there too.

I fear about Monster Mansion becoming Justice League.

Mindbender isn't going anywhere.

I don't think they'd close GASM so abruptly. It's an icon and would honestly be a tough loss for the park considering the GP doesn't know what RMC is.

My money is on Splashwater Falls because the one at SFGAdv and SFNE have been removed the past decade.

I would be extremely disappointed if the park removed Mind Bender, Great American Scream Machine or Monster Mansion. I really don't see that happening and I feel like the park would get a lot of backlash for it too. Hopefully Dahlonega Mine Train will stay as well.

As much as I would hate to see Sky Buckets go, I could see them using the area behind it and simply deciding to remove Sky Buckets too just because of operation costs (even though they don't need the small space it sits on). They would basically be using the new addition as an excuse to remove a costly ride.

I am still hoping for Splashwater Falls as I find it to be an eyesore and not a huge loss (even though it has quite the history in the park). The only bummer about this is it means we would be getting an S&S Free Spin, which is fine, I would just prefer something unique, longer, and with the capacity our park desperately needs. Maybe we could luck out and get something like Full Throttle or even a Zamperla Giant Discovery though.

There's so many options as to what it could be. I noticed on google maps that there's a rather large wooded area behind Bumper cars next to Superman that looks well suited for a future large attraction or coaster, but that is just me playing RCT in my head haha.

If I've learned anything from theme parks, Grona Lund especially, it's that if a park wants something desperately, they'll make it fit.

I mostly agree with this, but it is much cheaper to develop flat areas, existing infrastructure, etc. SFOG has a lot of space and if you look at their past additions, for Hurricane Harbor they literally expanded on the amphitheater foundation to make a wave pool, for Sky Screamer they used Wheelie's foundation and line, and they plopped the new rides for Gotham on top of existing pavement. I would think they would use existing structures and flat spaces around the park before spending a lot more to cram something in on difficult undeveloped terrain. Although the area behind Splashwater Falls and Dodge City Bumper Cars might not be too hard to work with.

Walking up carousel hill, there are many trees marked for removal. I am thinking Splashwater Falls to be removed and a RMC T Rex coaster to go where the falls is and up the hill and out behind the bumper cars. The T Rex is a new concept from RMC using a single rail.

I would like this options more than a 4D coaster.

Also, some trees were removed around mine train as well.

I didn't realize trees were already marked! I need to take a look during my next visit.

I hope they don't remove too many trees. The park is so nice with all its full grown trees and the park has taken a lot of foliage out recently. It's unfortunate. The entry to Bugs Bunny Boomtown desperately needs some actual trees in and around it.

And it really shouldn't be a question of it closing or not. It's a great intermediate coaster between the mine train/woodies and the B&M's/Blue Hawk for those who are bored of the former but aren't quite brave enough for the latter.
