Surprising to see Dudley-do-Right is the best water ride. I rode it a year ago, before the fire, so maybe its better now, but I though it was pretty bad.

The audio was out of sync, and ear piercingly loud in some spots. Many of the effects weren't working too, like the horse running with the scrolling background. A light just shined on it for a second and that was it.

Splash Mountain still is a way better ride.

While I don't always agree with results of polls like this I always find them a fun read. I don't read into all the "well this ride is really better than this but more people rode it..." stuff - I just like to see where rides/parks fall and helps me plan some of my trips. There have been a few times when planning a trip I debated skipping a park then saw that a ride ranked real high and gave it shot (ie Boardwalk Bullet).

On a side note... people always hate on the Golden Tickets for being based on ads and support of AT... I listened to the award ceremony while driving yesterday and someone (I forgot who) said, during their "acceptance" speech something along the lines of "now that I one I guess I"ll have to buy more ad space." HA!

I wonder how many people vote in categories that they have no experience. The Falls at Schlitterbahn has been open for 1.5 months, yet won best new waterpark ride. Did people really get a chance to ride it or did they just vote for it because it's Schlitterbahn?

Amusement Today encourages people to vote for things they have not even ridden in the 'new' category, saying something along the lines of "we understand that you can't get to every new ride every year, so take other peoples' trip reports and reviews into consideration to make your selection"

The multiple-choice ballot really skews the results towards the given options.

Yeah, witch brings me to this comment. Millennium Force is not even half the ride New Texas Giant is. Why the hell is it #1.

Millennium has had more than a decade for people to ride it, Texas Giant has only had a few months

My only two comments which I'll actually speak on are this...

First -

Best Food: Knoebels

I really wish there were two categories, because I DO actually believe that Knoebel's has, hands down, the "best traditional amusement park food" in the world. No contest. But when I fill out the ballot, taking into account all the theme parks I've been to, I have to vote "Epcot" in this category. How can Epcot not win an overall "Best Food" in a park category? Not even taking into consideration the Food & Wine Festival, locations like Via Napoli, Mitsukoshi, and Le Cellier Steakhouse are some of the best restaurants I've been to period, and they are in a theme park!

I hate not having to vote for Knoebel's, but I wish there was a "Best Theme Park Dining" and "Best Traditional Park Food" categories.

Second -

The fact that nothing "Tokyo Disney Resort" is on the list is a crime against humanity.

My top three coasters in California are X2, Tatsu, and Goliath. The highest ranked California coasters on the Golden Ticket Award poll are X2, Tatsu, and Goliath in that order. I guess I agree with them on something. Though I would rank X2 higher up the poll as its one of the most intense and funnest rides I've been on, I guess its too rough or intense for a lot of people. I noticed coasters with inversions don't rank that high on the poll.

^^I thought it was strange that nothing from Tokyo Disney was awarded. It shows how US centric these awards are (like many people in our govt). Just by seeing the pics, videos, and rave reviews of Journey of the Center of the Earth, it should be in the top three dark ride list. And Tokyo Disney Sea should be in the top two best parks list. I also agree about having two separate food categories. Some people going to Knoebels who have been to Epcot may be disappointed when they they try the food expecting it to be like Epcot after seeing the "Best Park Food" banners across the park.

I clearly ate the wrong food at Knoebels. Didn't particularly care for any of it (not counting the lovely birch beer). But I don't really have a valid basis for my opinion, as I disregarded the common advice to eat your way through the park. No complaints from me about aspects like prices, customer service, selection, or eating areas, though.

This is about the time when the SFMM fanboys come out and attack the CP fanboys! Being an unbiased theme park enthusiast I have to say, "sorry MM, CP really is much better!" I know this site is SFMM heavy, but lets be realistic.

Ugh...please stop. There is nothing more outdated than old CP vs SFMM crap. Especially now that most of us are well traveled enough to know neither park is what I would consider the best.

A Few Thoughts:

- How is Hades Better than Prowler?

- Odd How Riptide Bay Added like 7 New Attractions and NONE got nominated for best Waterpark Attraction

- Is Voyage That Good?

- I went to Cedar Point in 09 and I Could Probably name 5 Parks Better in QUALITY

- I Really Wish Friendlies Park, Cleanest Park could Change Hands a Few Time

- Shouldn't Six Flags America Be Nominated for Best Kids Area?

- KNOEBEL'S BEST HALLOWEEN EVENT????!!!!???

- What Part of Nick Universe is The Kids Area?

- I'd Take Bizarro over Millennium Force Anyday

- Grona Lund for "Has Rich History, Thrives as a Big Park in a Small Space" Heard of Indiana Beach? or Nick Universe? or Casino Pier? or Funtown Pier?

IMO, Golden Ticket Awards are Like The Oscars, Only Less Exciting, Interesting, or Guarenteed New Winners.

I agree with this completely. I love Knoebels' food for "snacking," but Epcot beats all other parks for "dining" (Tokyo DisneySea is no slouch here, either).

Is Voyage That Good?

My answer would be "no." (However, two years ago, I probably wouldn't have quibbled about this.)

Did people really get a chance to ride it or did they just vote for it because it's Schlitterbahn?

Voters are encouraged to vote for what they hear is the best if they have not experienced all the options? Personally, I generally don't vote for a category if I've only experienced less than two of the options.

And Valhalla craps all over both of them, but Valhalla will never win.

I Forgot to mention one last thing.

Blue Streak at Conneaut Rating in the Top 100 of "Best Anything" is Laughable. THAT RIDE SUCKS.

Skyliner @ Lakemont Park is 10,000x better and I Don't think that was Nominated in the Top 50

Edited Cause I'm An Idiot.

This whole thing strikes me as odd!

It just seems really skewed.

MF as #1? You mean there is NO OTHER STEEL COASTER ANYWHERE that is better than that? I305 comes to mind. In fact didn't someone say "it craps all over MF" and I believe that person knows what he is talking about!

Expedition GeForce at #7? Something seems off here. I've never ridden it but from what people on here say and the fact that usually it is consistently ranked very high makes this seem even more screwed up.

The one number that really jumps out at me is 66% of voters said Schlitterbahn was the best waterpark. Schlitterbahn is, by far, my favorite waterpark, but I like it in a Knoebels kind of way. It's cute, traditional, and one-of-a-kind. And I'm an old school, Knoebels, Schlitterbahn, Kennywood, Lake Compounce type person. But 66% of voters picked Schlitterbahn?! I know those well-themed water parks in Florida have TONS of fans...what about the Wet N Wilds, or those crazy looking waterparks in Italy and Spain? Your telling me 2/3 of voters prefer Schlitterbahn to all of those parks?! I mean Cedar Point, the darling baby of the Golden Ticket's only got 23% of voters. Crazy numbers like that make me lose confidence in this poll.

Trying not to rant to much, but I had to just a little
