deweasefan Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 ERT on awesome coasters, meeting lots of new people, free beer = GREAT DAY!!! Thanks Robb, Elissa, and KD management for an awesome event. BTW, trims or no trims, i305 is the best coaster I've ever ridden! Complaining about something as minor as trims on a ride that good is just ridiculous.
mjblizza Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Ooops, sorry folks I didn't realize Snapfish required you to register, but it was the easiest way to get my pics from my phone uploaded. I will download them to my computer, and post a trip report at some point, probably not until this weekend though. Should I post my TR for ECB in this topic or create a new one in the Photo TR forum?
RoCo Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Just another big, hearty thanks to everyone at TPR and KD who helped put together a truly spectacular day. The after-dark ERT was just sick (feeling so much Intamin love for both Volcano and Intimidator) and the beer-fueled mayhem of the TPR Quest game was hysterically epic. The many awesome memories are making work today suck particularly hard.
Coastinmiller Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Thanks to Robb and Elissa and all the countless others (King's Dominion staff) who helped put this event together. We truly had a great time and it was good to meet some old friends from previous trip and make some new ones. Look forward to some future trips. Thanks Again, The Millers.
nay Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 East Coast Bash was great! Thanks for putting together yet another awesome event. TPR Quest was hilarious and ERT on Intimidator was amazing!!
SuperShawn Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I would also like to express my appreciation to every one at Kings Dominion, as well as Robb and Elissa for going above and beyond to put together an extremely fun and well run event for all of us. I had such a blast spending the day at the park, and then ending the day and the Intimidatour on I305 ERT is something I will long remember. And also Robb I hope that the TPR Quest game is something we might see happen at WCB this year, that was priceless to watch.
rcdude Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Looking through these pictures again just reminds me of how much fun the entire trip was. With only a couple minor exceptions, I really enjoyed everything that I did on the trip. Robb and Elissa really know how to put together a great trip and I can't wait to do another one next year.
Amy Baby Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I would also like to send out a huge thank you to Robb and Elissa for putting together a great event. For it being my first TPR event, I had a blast. I would also like to thank the great staff of Kings Dominion for being so helplful during the Q&A and during the backstage tour. Whenever I had a question someone was able to answer it with no problem. With this being said, I am most definately planning on trying to make a TPR trip sometime next year. Once again thanks to all who made this event possible.
coasterdude624 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 The Quest Game was amazing. I love the randomness of the quests. We need to do that again.
DECoasterNerd Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 This was our first TPR event and we had an EXCELLENT TIME! The King's Dominion staff was excellent and the ERT and backstage tour were unforgettable! We LOVE Intimidator 305! Will definitely be back to King's Dominion again in the future and will definitely be on another TPR event! Thanks so much to TPR and King's Dominion!
Erik Johnson Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I probably had my best visit to the park ever during this event. The park certainly looks to be in a lot better shape than my visit two years ago. I thought Intimidator 305 is certainly a top ten coaster. It sure is crazy intense. Also, please be sure to do TPR Quest at every event from now on, it was really a lot of fun. Thanks again for everything!
Carnage Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I've found that Shockwave really isn't all that bad, especially since the ride ops do a good job at making sure the pedestal is at the right height. I think Chuck might disagree after our ride.
cfc Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 ^I always seem to have that problem with Shockwave. But, that aside, this was the best day I've spent at Kings Dominion in years! My thanks for Robb and Elissa and the park's staff for putting this on. Nighttime ERT made I-305 (not to mention Volcano) even better. And this marked the first time I've ever visited KD's water park--floating around the lazy river made for a nice break in the day (and Tornado was great).
DarkStitch626 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 East Coast Bash was amazing. The ERT on each ride was amazing. I can't express myself any clearer. 305 was running VERY good. My fiance and I were among the few that did NOT boo 305 during Q&A and we were annoyed at those who did but people sometimes can't be controlled so its like "what can you do?" My favorite ride during this event was for the ERT on Flight of Fear. My fiance says her's was Dominator. We would love to definitely join this event again the next time it occurs!. Two of the things I enjoyed alot during the trip were the water park take over, and meeting SO many new friends mixed with some of the members I have been talking to on this board for years now. All of you were amazing to meet with , talk to , and hang out with! I will post a photo TR of all my pictures from my trip when I get a chance. It will include East Coast Bash, Kennywood, Cedar Point, Kings Island, bonus points , NO LINES and more.
PAL Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 ^ I don't know what ECB you attended. There might have been a few boos, but those people were a small minority. TPR is way classier than that... at least in this context. There wasn't much classy about the TPR Quest Game, which explains why it was pure awesome. Stretch, my 13 year old who stands nearly 6-3, has never had a better time at a park. This kid is turning into a teen, but he was literally jumping for joy during our I305 ERT marathon. We were on our 9th lap when I noticed the telltale trash can parked in the queue entrance. As we surrendered our seats to those waiting for one of the last trains, we spotted a couple of open singles and hopped back on for a final 3 delirious spins. When Robb announced East Coast Bash, I'd already planned a big loop around the best of the East Coast / Midwest parks, for us a trip of a lifetime. Our planned route went straight into the dumper, 'cause we weren't going to miss a Bash for anything. In a voyage that included Cedar Point, Great Adventure, and a stroll 200 ft up on Griffon at BGW, East Coast Bash stands out as a highlight. That walk-back was a real privilege. Standing so close to a screaming blur of a train really puts the awesome speed and power into perspective. Thanks to the KD staff for rolling out the red carpet, and thanks to the TPR team for a typically enthusiastic and terrific event. We're already looking forward to the next Bash!
SharkTums Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 ^Yeah, the boos were probably from less than 5% of those in attendance...some idiots at the table next to where I was boo'ed and they got an earful from me way before Robb got up there and yelled at them!
robbalvey Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) ^Yeah, the boos were probably from less than 5% of those in attendance...some idiots at the table next to where I was boo'ed and they got an earful from me way before Robb got up there and yelled at them! To be honest, if I ever found out who the assholes were that boo'ed the park management, they would be banned from any future TPR events. You don't EVER boo your hosts...EVER!!! I honestly cannot believe people would be so rude and obnoxious towards someone who put on such a kick ass event for us. How disrespectful can you be. --Robb Edited August 27, 2010 by robbalvey
Skycoastin Steve Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Sounds a little bit like what happened at Knott's during WCB. I guess some people just feel entitled to do what they please, no matter how much others are bending over backwards to give them a good time.
robbalvey Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Sounds a little bit like what happened at Knott's during WCB. I guess some people just feel entitled to do what they please, no matter how much others are bending over backwards to give them a good time. This was even worse. I'll be honest, at Knott's, it was a fair question, and in a way I'm glad it got asked so I could personally address it. I did the same thing at ECB. I got up in front of everyone and personally addressed why I felt the booing was rude and obnoxious and explained to the group why things have to happen. IMO, anyone that doesn't like that, or still feels the need to boo the park management after they've put on an amazing event for us should just never attend a TPR event ever again. IMO, i call it "natural selection." I'd rather weed out the assholes and have quality people over quantity at a TPR event. That's the difference between TPR and other enthusiast groups. I don't want *lots* of people at our events. I want the *GOOD* people at our events! --Robb "I'll take quality over quantity and the annoying people who have that sense of entitlement can go to that *other* group where they belong." krazekiddd Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I still don't understand why people boo over trims. I honestly believe that ride needs those trims. I don't think I would have lasted too long without them.
cfc Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 ^I've ridden it pre- and post-trims and thought it was great each time. There's even some added airtime on the third hill, thanks to trims being removed from it, and the twisty portion of the ride is better now. For me, I-305 is a top-ten ride--just a question of where in the top ten.
mwm1444 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I still don't understand why people boo over trims. I honestly believe that ride needs those trims. I don't think I would have lasted too long without them. Same! Bearing in mind my tolerance for high-intensity rides is lower than most people's, with the trims I was able to get 5 rides in - and I didn't ride in a seat past the middle of the train, since that's the position that I ended up finally blacking out in. Had the trims not been there, it's likely that it would have just been a 'credit and out' for me.
