  1. I got lucky enough one morning at Kings Dominion to ride solo on both Dominator and I305. When I got through the gates I immediately went to Dominator as its the only coaster open right away. Sat in the front row and nobody else had gotten in line yet so they sent me by myself. Then I got the season pass early entry to the rest of the park and went straight back to Intimidator. I went to the front row and sat down. 2 other people were in line with me but they both wanted the front row as well so again they sent the train with just me on it!
  2. 2 for Pennsylvania: Kennywood Phantom Fright Nights phantomfrightnights.com/ Idlewild Hallowboo! idlewild.com/
  3. I know parks will give out return tickets sometimes when things like weather force them to close early but they didn't. They stayed open until their advertised closing time! Sure some rides didn't reopen but they got as many rides up as quickly as they could. Just another case of people wanting something for nothing.
  4. While waiting in line for Storm Runner: "You should go ride Intimidator 305 at King's Dominion. It's awesome 'cause it drops like 400 feet!"
  5. i305 started with one train yesterday. Maintenance was working on the red train. They ended up putting red on just after noon which made the line short the rest of the day (<10 min).
  6. I was there today too. I305 is just awesome this year. Untrimmed version with the straps is about as good as it gets IMHO. I305 was still a great ride even with the trims but in its current form the airtime on the second hill and the speed on the drop is just incredible. I got several rides in on it today and can't wait to get some more next time!!
  7. Last year's ECB was a blast! I haven't been to Hershey since I was really young so this sounds awesome and I'll definitely be there
  8. http://www.idlewild.com/blog/ Per Idlewild's website: Family Wave Pool Coming to Idlewild & SoakZone for 2011 Season New water attraction will appeal to entire family at World's Best Kid's Park Summer thrill seekers are invited to "catch a wave" this season at Idlewild & SoakZone when the park debuts an exciting new addition to its waterpark. A multi-million dollar family wave pool will replace Idlewild's aging swimming pool built in 1931. "This wave pool is a thrilling addition that will take the excitement of the SoakZone to a whole new level for our Guests", said Jeff Croushore, park spokesperson. "We've already been recognized as the "Best Children's Park", but this attraction's appeal to kids and adults, will help bolster Idlewild's reputation of being one of the best parks for the entire family!" Following intermittent periods of calm water conditions, a signal will sound and the pool will generate waves at timed intervals, allowing swimmers to ride the tide. The park plans to keep the velocity of the waves at a level that will offer a thrill to older guests but still allow younger children to enjoy the fun. The new pool will feature a zero depth entry at its shallow end and a depth of 6' at its deepest, with the following additional statistics: · Water Capacity: 280,600 gallons · Total Water Volume: 7,508 cu. ft. · Water Surface Area: 14,728 sq. ft. · Deep End Width: 70 ft. · Shallow End Width: 137 ft. · Pool Length: 182 ft. The "beach" area surrounding the wave pool will feature chaise lounges offered first-come, first-served, and cabanas that guests may rent as a shady spot to escape the summer sun.
  9. We could probably raise more money and support for that than has been raised for saving the big dipper. I would really like to know what is happening with I305 too. However, I agree that until either the park announces something or they put up pieces high enough to be seen from the road (because we know some of the locals are probably driving past every day hoping to see something ) we will just have to wait. I can't wait until opening day, though, to ride the new and improved (???) I305!
  10. Dominator at KD earlier this afternoon. Last ride of the year
  11. I went on the Saturday during Columbus Day weekend. Got there at open and lines were very minimal. Other than Volcano lines were under 30 minutes for most of the day until about 4. That's when crowds really started to pick up and most rides suddenly had full que lines. I ended up leaving around 5 as I'm not really a fan of halloween events so I can't comment on the lines that night.
  12. ^ Looks that way to me but that would seem odd to have certain buildings with outdoor corridors and certain buildings with indoor corridors in the same resort. This could possibly just be a mistake on the part of the person who drew this or maybe these are the backs of the rooms and the outdoor corridors are on the other side??? It will be interesting to watch this project progress to see what is actually built.
  13. I enjoy the fact that they are still letting us know that "The Hurler will open for the 2010 season in mid-May" Just incase anyone was wondering when it opened this year
  14. I definitely agree with the airlines charging extra to overweight people. If I was sitting next an overweight person that takes up all of their seat and part of mine, then that is in no way fair. I should have just as much room as that person has. Although I will say that if that person wants to give me $100 for the inconvenience, I may overlook the issue
  15. I work for our area's agency on aging. So basically we help out old people to make sure they are still as happy as they were when they were young
