It's looking incredibly similar to the Intamin spinner at Bakken...except Alton already has a spinner.

I'm stumped.

I'm pretty confident that the coaster is going to be in a similar vein to Mine Train Ulven at Bakken, which is no bad thing in my view!

I'm looking forward to visiting the park soon and getting a look at the construction site myself.

I doubt the tire driven lift could generate the craziness that is Bakken's Tornado.

Hi Robb (Or anyone else) i am going to alton towers during halloween and i am bringing my little sister (8 Years old) but do you recommend her going? I dont know what to expect

Thanks

Hi, I went to Alton Towers at Halloween a couple of years ago. There tend to be cobwebs and stuff like that everywhere but most of the scary stuff stays in the mazes. The only place to avoid would be Gloomy Hollow or whatever it is called, can't remember it's exact name. Generally I would say it is fine.

Sorry I've never been in the Alton Towers mazes. However if they are anything like the Thorpe Park ones I would advise you to definitely not take her on them. There will be more info about them at the park on the day. Just ask a member of staff what they think

Though the new promotional material I posted earlier doesnt refer to their being a 'World's First' element the newly updated 2010 page on the website does:

http://www.altontowers.com/2010

It does? Care to show me where?

It's right in the writing on the right-hand side bar on that page he linked to...

Did you try the link? It very specifically says:

"Want to find out more about our new World-first attraction opening March 2010?"

This kind of very clearly highlights that the new coaster will have some specific new element not available before.

Will AT ever end its fantastic tradition of putting stuff in holes? *insert person with a 15 year old's sense of humor's comment here*

This is seriously looking cool though, and I don't even know what the hell it really is gonna be like

Posted

^Well it's not really by choice that they do it. They have a very strict height limitation policy so having anything with a decent vertical dimension requires these holes. It makes for some awesome looking rides. Nemesis looks amazing and I hope I can get to Alton Towers at some point in my life.

^I know about the restrictions, but rides like Rita dont go underground. I personally think AT is brilliant with the types of rides they've been able to install with their restrictions.

Is this the world's first coaster to utilize TWO tire-driven lift hills?

(Yeah, a bit of a stretch, I know.)
