HEADCHEEZ Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Wow! That's really screwed up! Even my school doesn't block this site!
Skycoastin Steve Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 First their soccer team quits the World Cup, and then their internet quits TPR!
holidayworld08 Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 On Yahoo Translate it said that the site was a casino site that you play for money on and is condemned by French law.
mightbeawannabe Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Maybe if you typed in themeparkreview.com in Francois...: avisparcàthème.com
ParkTrips Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 haha, it thinks TPR is a gambling site - there's nothing on here to make anyone think its gambling-related, yet there are all kinds of "porn" references that seem to be ok.. gotta love the French!
PeoplemoverMatt Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I'd say TPR should declare war on France, but France would just surrender again.
Fat-G Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I say we cut all ties with France and convert back to Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast.
alexinla Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 haha, it thinks TPR is a gambling site - there's nothing on here to make anyone think its gambling-related, yet there are all kinds of "porn" references that seem to be ok.. gotta love the French! Gambling for money on the internet = Illegal Porn on the Internet = Legal Not sure what you dont understand
mcjaco Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 The hotel I stayed at in Philly had it blocked too. Except they deemed it as porn!
Jew Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 haha, it thinks TPR is a gambling site - there's nothing on here to make anyone think its gambling-related, yet there are all kinds of "porn" references that seem to be ok.. gotta love the French! Gambling for money on the internet = Illegal Porn on the Internet = Legal Not sure what you dont understand Internet gambling isn't illegal in France.
Sir Clinksalot Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I can even get TPR on my work computer, and I can't get a LOT of sites. (Yahoo, etc)
CorkscrewFoley Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 haha, it thinks TPR is a gambling site - there's nothing on here to make anyone think its gambling-related, yet there are all kinds of "porn" references that seem to be ok.. gotta love the French! Gambling for money on the internet = Illegal Porn on the Internet = Legal Not sure what you dont understand Well have you seen some of the pics here, and the sexy Coastertube viddies? This site is nothing but porn...even my wrists hurt after a look...from the mouse, and the fact my keyboard is higher up...
kumba830 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 So I won't be able to go on TPR durring my layover in Paris?
Dailey Enterprizes Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 ^ Not unless you have a phone card from Sprint, AT&T or Verizon.
alexinla Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Not unless you have a phone card from Sprint, AT&T or Verizon Which is BS, of course TPR is not "illegal" in France unless your workplace has a filter or you selfimposed some filters on your own computer/phone
SharkTums Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 The funniest thing about this is that it worked just fine last week when we went through CDG!!!
MG Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Although my school doesn't block TPR it still sets off their filters. That's how they noticed that I was using Firefox instead of IE since a TPR page had caused the filter system to take a snapshot of my page. My head of IT, whilst slightly confused about what TPR was more interested in my use of Firefox than TPR. Still really weird though that so many places block it.
BeemerBoy Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 haha, it thinks TPR is a gambling site - there's nothing on here to make anyone think its gambling-related, yet there are all kinds of "porn" references that seem to be ok.. gotta love the French! Gambling for money on the internet = Illegal Porn on the Internet = Legal Not sure what you dont understand Internet gambling isn't illegal in France. Actually: On March 5, 2009, France proposed new laws to regulate and tax internet gambling. Budget minister Eric Woerth stated the French gambling market would expand to adapt to "Internet reality." He further stated "Rather than banning 25,000 websites, we'd rather give licenses to those who will respect public and social order."[6] The new regulations are expected to take effect in june 2010. Betting exchanges, however, will remain illegal under the new plans. And via Facebook this morning: PokerStars has been granted a French license to launch PokerStars.frFrom now on, PokerStars.fr will enable French players initially to play free money tournaments and sit and go's. PokerStars.fr will begin running cash games once the regulations of the French government for online poker have been published. This looks likely to happen tomorrow, Wednesday, June 30th. Time for the Frenchies to start shipping me their money.
Jew Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 ^Yeah, France realized "holy sh*t, there's money to be made here! We'd better regulate this so we can cash in too!" The U.S. should do the same. Before it was just a free-for-all, but not illegal.
BeemerBoy Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 The U.S. should do the same. Couldn't agree more. For years, that's been the biggest headscratcher I have about our government.....well, besides NASA. This thread is actually pretty pointless now.
Homer Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I think the reason why TPR is illegal is because we discuss CP so much. And you know CP has a different meaning outside roller coaster forums... and not a good one.
ParkTrips Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I'd rather them lift the ban on showering than the ban on TPR.
