Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

P. 512: Holiday World acquires Santa's Cottages resort

Recommended Posts

^ I could see them adding another " Log Ride" type of ride. They most likely have something in the plans for that area since they didn't destroy it. I don't see using it as a Fountain. Maybe Intamin and Holiday World are working on something else to replace " Giraffica". I think some type of water ride will replace it.

I've always thought it would be cool to see them expand Frightful Falls into some kind of indoor/outdoor haunted house dark ride log flume attraction. Seems like the plot of land after the initial tunnel on that flume ride is large enough that they could build some kind of structure and have decent sized dark ride section with some show scenes and a few indoor drops that culminates in the same final drop that exists now.

If your reading this Paula, I'm full of attraction ideas and would love to contribute my creative services, for a small fee of course...... (who am I kidding I'll work for a season pass, pizza, and fudge).

Love the response

Edit: Oh and look what has crossed The Voyage. From Holiday World's Twitter:

Double Edit: HW posted this video of the loop being topped off. Kudos to the park, they really got some great footage of this thing being topped off! I'm really looking forward to the seeing what type of B-Roll and POV footage they put together in the spring now.

I like how Thunderbird crosses Voyage twice. The section in the woods may be the ride's best feature.

I agree as well. There was a picture a couple months ago when they were pouring the footings for the S-Curve and it really showed how close the trees will be to the ride. Much better than the animation did.

but the setting adds a whole new level of sweet to it.

After seeing some of the work PGAV destinations (the company that has designed all the theming for Thunderbird), I have no doubt that that the whole area is going to enhance the ride experience.

No only is the setting great, but the park it's in will make it even better. Haven't been yet, but I've heard nothing but good reviews.

You haven't read all the reviews then.

Yea. You really should read some more reviews. Most of them that I have read were Great, so I'm not sure where you're finding these "Good" reviews.

Sir Isaac Newton said it first: “What goes up must come down.”

Centuries later, Blood, Sweat & Tears set the phrase to music.

Whether you prefer physics or ’60s pop-culture references, it’s time for us to let you know that Giraffica, the ride formerly known as Pilgrims Plunge, is no more. The tower is being removed this week.

If you’re one of our super-fans, you’re probably not surprised. You’ve noticed the ride has not been open as often as we all would have liked. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment.

In researching the story of the Mayflower, we learned that there was originally a second ship filled with Pilgrims. It was called the Speedwell. In 1620, the two ships set sail for the New World but they were forced to turn back. It seems Speedwell was simply not up to the voyage that was to come.

And so the Pilgrims from both ships set sail that September on board the Mayflower, heading toward freedom. They took along what they could from Speedwell, but were forced to leave behind that which could no longer serve them well.

Sir Isaac also said, “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” This action we just took? It isn’t the end of our Thanksgiving feast.

We hope you’ll join us this season as the Mayflower sails merrily in our Thanksgiving section. And like the good sailors on board the original ship, be sure to keep a steady watch on the horizon.

Honestly not going to miss it one iota. Empty concrete pad might be a better attraction.

That overbanked turn! Looking real good!

Not sure if you mean how most people talk of the park being great, or how people sometimes complain about the park, due to how vauge your wording is. Holiday World has its ups and downs (hehe), and many downs mostly come from when certain coasters become brutal and require some love from the Coaster Cats (at least from my observations and experiences).

Seems I read that at the last Holiwood Nights the boats were still inside the building. Could be that the tower is somewhere offsite in storage until the problems are figured out??

What sort of "problems"? Which scrap-metal dealer to sell it to?

What if they were planning something like Divertical. But what if it had a loop? Holiday World should put up ONLY the tower, and build some coaster track. I would love that to happen in a few seasons.
