certifiedcoastergeek
Can I ask the question of what concrete information do you have about old va getting expanded? Nobody knows any clues about any expansion, and you guys are talking like you know the plans for the next 5 years. I never said anything about "concrete information". I said "individually matching employee accounts and speculation".
certifiedcoastergeek
It seems to me like this is what enthusiasts with a CF home park want/complain about: Carowinds: Let us keep Thunder Road Kings Island: We want a gigacoaster Kings Dominion: We want a coaster Cedar Point: Dive coasters suck Canada's Wonderland: We want a large B&M floorless or invert Worlds of Fun/Valleyfair/Dorney Park/Michigan's Adventure: We want a non-relocation dry ride Knott's: We'll just go to SFMM instead until Knott's Scary Farm starts up again

Password121
Maybe it's just me... Never have I seen a poster on enthusiast forums that is against the addition of giga coasters to major parks. The above poster has explicitly stated his opinion multiple times--like in his signature. And his above post.
whatabeast
No, I think those were all pretty accurate. The one for WoF, Dorney, VF, and MiA was spot on. I'd be cool with a Giga at KI, BUT I'd rather have something else. Aaaaaand as far as KD goes, you've got introspection down perfectly
redfoot12
I've also heard that KD will be getting a new flat ride in 2016 and a coaster in 2017, but who knows. Â Sounds legit
certifiedcoastergeek
BREAKING: According to a Facebook comment on the Kings Dominion page, markers have been spotted near/around Shockwave. I don't have pictures, but would someone who is going to KD in the next few days be so kind as to verify this?
certifiedcoastergeek
Removal rumors continue... Here's that comment... I don't know if I should be happy or angry if this turns out to be legit - it depends on the variety of S&S flat that they install there. It sounds like these markers might be located in the trees between the Flying Ace kiddie swings and the Shockwave - if anyone visits the park sometime in the near future, it'd be awesome if you checked! *And no, my name's not Michael Zell. Just clearing that up. You can look me up on Instagram (same username @certifiedcoastergeek) if you really want to know my real name.

certifiedcoastergeek
UPDATE: I conversed with a couple of acquaintances who are fellow enthusiasts about this, one has very close ties to the park (he wishes to remain anonymous) and allegedly knows the 2016 addition(s) but won't tip his hand one way or another. He said something along the lines of "I'll keep my mouth shut until something is announced". Do with that as you will. My other acquaintance said that the markings might be for water and electricity and that Mr. Zell is "talking for the sake of talking", BUT that there is a strong possibility that they are indeed survey markings and that he will take a closer look during his next visit. Most of the park employees with which I've spoken (and again, they're not the most credible sources) have stated that we should expect one or two flat ride(s) to replace the Shockwave in 2016; if this is following the current Cedar Fair trend (and again, still assuming that this Shockwave out, flat ride(s) in thing is happening), we can expect an upcharge Slingshot, a Disko Coaster, a Giant Frisbee, or some combination of the three (if they remove the practically barren and likely unprofitable mini-arcade nearby). One more time: THIS. IS. PURELY. SPECULATION. I've had so much hate about this. I'm not affiliated with the park in any way, so I can't tell you for certain what is happening in 2016. I can, however, make educated guesses based upon the limited information available to me.
BeansproutMidget
I hope your speculation is somewhat correct. I'd love a Frisbee in Candy Apple Grove.

DonkeysWaffles
It seems like that whole side of the park is getting a big upgrade. A new flat ride next year and then a B&M in 2017. It's not as visited as that Safari Village area, so it needed it.
Intimidator305
I was at the park on Monday and closely circled the Shockwave site looking for any signs of removal and saw absolutely nothing... However, this 'Michael Zell' on Facebook constantly complains on Facebook about the park never receiving anything of significant value, gets all excited if he sees a new plank of wood, and says KD is becoming the next SFA. Â I wouldn't believe the rumors of survey markers until a TPR member or someone else confirms them. I have heard pretty strong rumors though that Shockwave is indeed out (at some point) and a SlingShot is in the works.

Password121
Both parks are way better than they were in 2010 when KD built I305. That's what it comes down to. The difference is, KD has done this with atmosphere, SFA has done this with rides/general clean up.

SFA is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was five years ago, and has improved more than almost any Six Flags in that time. Nowhere did I say SFA is better than Kings Dominion. Reading comprehension. Â Â Beat me to it, well said. Seriously, you've got to be blind if you can't see SFA has been improving over the last five years. Sure there are other things that the park can improve but with them bringing in new attractions, sprucing up areas and with the addition of adding a new pathway I'd say the park is doing a lot better than it was before. Â As for Shockwave, if the rumors are true and it's on the chopping block soon, I say good riddance.
DonkeysWaffles
The problem is that SFA doesn't know what it wants to do. It keeps getting clones and relocated rides. It needs to either focus on making it a more family friendly park, or get in a major new coaster to bring crowds in. And this really isn't all the parks fault, it's just that Six Flags doesn't care. At least Cedar Fair makes their smaller parks nice for families.

Also expect either the go-karts or BR tollway to go for a new coaster.
disownedpear
I don't know if this has already been discussed but has anyone noticed they are letting people onto the top platform of Eiffel tower this year? At least Cedar Fair makes their smaller parks nice for families. Maybe you haven't heard... *All* parks do this. It's called being well rounded. Not doing this is what's ruined Magic Mountain, Great Adventure, etc. It's not a one or the other kind of deal, and it's not just "an SFA problem." And the park has been adding family rides and thrill rides... Not sure that's even a gray area, it's fairly obvious IMO. Â I'd rather have a relocated mouse than no mouse at all. And "they keep getting clones..." Yeah maybe, since flats are generally clones. Their last coaster clone was Batwing. Â "At least Cedar Fair makes their smaller parks nice for families." Did you hear about SFA's two year Mardi Gras project they just finished? And the brand new kiddie area from 2010? Â I'm not trying to be argumentative, but if you're being ignorant to a park and it's improvements, don't pretend that you know more than they do. I'm proud to call SFA my home park sometimes.
