p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

Although I have see the blueprints for the Dive Coaster.

Who showed you the blueprints? Those crazy people we unfortunately were talking to while in line for Raging Bull when Big Mike was in town?

Gurnee always has something to grumble about. They have a great park in their town, and they complain about it. That's like Chicago complaining about Oprah. I'm sure some people complained about her though after her recent shenanigans.

Things I would like to see at SFGAm that may or may not happen

1. A new coaster - I just think we need another good coaster to round off our collection. A Mack looper like Blue Fire would be awesome or a compact GCI woodie would be nice for not only thrill seekers but families in general. A eurofighter would also be fun, but I don't think the capacity on those is the best. I think we could see a compact coaster in the Splash Water Falls area or near the Pictorium.

2. Hurricane Harbor expansion - Like it or not, people love the waterpark. It has hit capacity multiple times and I think an expansion may be coming. The only thing I think Hurricane Harbor is missing is a freefall slide or a Deluge type master blaster. The most likely place for expansion is where Space Shuttle America is or near the Pictorium. I would also like to see the entrance of Hurricane Harbor moved to that area as well considering there's really no reason to walk all the way to Southwest Territory to get there.

3. New thrilling flat ride - I think we have a great collection of flat rides yet a lack of more thrilling ones. The only bigger flats that I can think of would be Giant Drop, Revolution, and King Chaos.

4. General park improvement - This is probably the simplest way to improve the park. Just by painting buildings and making the park look nice in general.

Jo, that was ME that they were talking to, not Matt!

But I do not think we will get anything huge that costs lots of money next year, so Six Flags in general can get ready for year 50 in 2011.

I know that we aren't getting a new coaster next year--never even had my sights set on that. What we are getting ( I am pretty sure) is a couple new rides in Hurricane Harbor (Yay!!) (and I hope a new entry gate near Pictorium).

I am just saying we NEED a new coaster, and that I would LIKE a giga- doesn't mean we are going to get it though.

I'd be happy with an Evel Knieval (but I like Viper already), however a park can Never have Too Many Woodies. I'd be happy with a custom GCI or something from Gravity Group too.

My opinion on Dark Knight won't change either. I don't like it. Not to say there aren't people who do (and if you (someone you know/love) that's just great and dandy) but I Personally know No-One who likes it either, unless it's a walk-on). And I kinda know a lot of people.

My .02 (spend it wisely or give it back to me )

I enjoy Dark Knight, I really do. It is my favorite movie, and the ride goes decently well with the movie. However, whenever I go there with friend, nobody wants to ride, and on a lot of occasions that ride is seriously lacking a major wait. That's not to say on a Crowded day it doesn't have a long line, as it does, but when there's not many people there, nearly nobody pays attention to it.

Posted

My problem with Dark Knight is how it was advertised as a thrill ride. A lot of people probably expected it to be, and were upset when they found out it wasn't. I'll even admit that I was disappointed when it opened. I was expecting something along the lines of the Scooby Doo coaster at Warner Bros. Movie World Australia. I don't think it is a bad ride, I just thought the theming would be better. Although, for being one of the first attempts Six Flags has made at theming in a while, it isn't that bad, and I'll take Dark Knight over a standard wild mouse any day.

Edit, I realized that you have to register to have the votes counted, so I've removed the links. If a mod sees this and says it's still allowed, I'll re-post the links.

Where could they fit major new coaster besides where the Space Shuttle is? Taking out Iron Wolf wouldn't give enough room for a big new one which we need. It could fit something small like an Intiman Halfpipe or Zac-spin. I personally still want a launched coaster. A Mr. Freeze clone would be nice.

Posted

I too want a launch coaster. But I really want something unique. I don't think something like the Speed coaster at the Nascar cafe would be bad. You know? Have it go under the midway or something and it wouldn't take up much room, and have it go over the ground when you want the spike to come out. Have a loop. Twists turns, do it again backwards.

But I really want a unique coaster...something to brag about.

Posted

^ That would be a good idea. The station could be where the Space Shuttle is and it could go all over the midway. It would be unique to have a coaster that is high off the ground like SFNO Batman. Then like you said go around backwards.

Hmmm. I was think where Splash Water Falls is. More people are over there so it would be cool. Like the first dip would be below the midway and go around Buccaneer Battle and the spike could possibly be the the first aid of ride before the Stage show thing. I forgot the name! Ugh. Where they also have the musicals and stuff.

Everyone has some great ideas, but I think Matt hit the nail on the head when he said this:

I'd rather see them spend some money on repainting alot of the structures. A lot of the buildings in Orleans Square and Hometown Square are in need of fresh coats of paint.

Now to quote Cameron from yesterday:

"They can put up a new sign for RB, but they can't paint the exit". (That might not have been the exact words, but it was pretty darn close).

RB could use some love, along with some other rides. Has anyone noticed that when you walk down the exit at RB it shakes like a California earthquake? The posts are looking a bit rotted out too. I don't understand the point of having a new ride. We do have a good park that needs some TLC. Let's give it that, and focus on new rides for 2011.

I will now step off of my soap box. Thank you.

The spike would be facing you, thats why it looked really curved. But this still could be possible even with the expansion.

I like this design sooo much better! The yellow dots could be possible airtime hills. And it curves under the path and has a verticle spike. Also has a loop.

Also keep in mind this is inspired by Speed at the Nascar Cafe. I am crossing my fingers or a Premeir launch.

^^While I would love to see that happen at Great America, I don't think Six Flags as a company would like that. Even though the park would look nicer and people would enjoy their day a bit more, I just don't see how they could bring more people to the park without some kind of new attraction.

SFGAm was supposed to get Mr Freeze after they had all the problems with the one at SFOT then SFSTL they scrapped the idea at the last minute and built Camp Cartoon Network instead. And considering Chiller was just removed, yeah wouldnt count on them getting a premier launch

Posted

^Well. How come I can't state what I want? I can always find a counter example to what you say also! I already know premier rides have lots of problems. I just want one like Speed at our park. That coaster is really good.

What traincrossin did. SF doesn't seem to have a strong relationship with intamin launchers right now. They only built Kingda Ka to get some people to the park...but thats about it...

I would do a drawing of a GCI...but those are too hard to draw. Maybe later when i upgrade from paint

Posted

^ My thing is the park, when building a ride, needs one with a large capacity. During the summer, lines here rival that of any other park I've been to, including WDW (excluding Soarin'.)

Right now Hurricane Harbor has got to get something to increase capacity there. The more people they can fit in there, the less in the theme park. Then, once that is done, maybe add in a new ride.

The smiley means I was being sarcastic. I know those cost a ton and have lots of problems.

They could build the duel station. Kinda like what Mr. Freeze has. That turns like 24 riders to 48, which isn't too bad.

While I do want a new coaster I would hate for Whizzer to go. That ride is a family favorite. When I went over the summer the line stuck way out of the entrance. If it does leave they will probably send it to another Six Flags or a different park will buy it. As for capacity that is a huge thing at Great America. Rajin Cajun can have a very short line but still take forever to get through. I could see Great America getting an El Loco but not as the next big coaster. We have a great collection of coasters and as the highest money earning park, Six Flags needs to stop with Magic Mountain for a while and put there attention on the park that gets the most cash. Great America should get the HH expansion, a new coaster and work on how the buildings and coasters look.
