Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

A Premier Sky Rocket II is the largest new ride I could forsee at WOF anytime. That doesn't mean it would not be a great addition!

Skyrocket II's are soooo boring. They need a good launch coaster.

Having never been on a Skyrocket II, even I can say they are definitely not boring. Maybe a little short? Yes. But definitely not boring.

I have. They are boring.

I must be missing something. Why are you so adamant about forcing your opinion on a Skyrocket II? I've ridden both Tempesto and Superman finding them both to be quite fun. It would be something quite different in the Midwest (meaning it would be very marketable)

That's not the problem i have. It's the fact that somebody whom has never ridden a skyrocket II telling me they're good rides. They have too low of a capacity for almost any park. (except maybe Michigan's Adventure.) During haunt it would build up a three or four hour wait with the one train. I've been to Williamsburg. It took forever to get on with a two train wait.

I've been on Sky Scream at Holiday Park. And while the ride is short, it is a very fun ride. I really enjoyed it. And there actually was a lot more force to it then I expected. Also, the in-line twist was awesome!! The ride operators were like flying all the time. The train dispatched everytime under 40 seconds. So the capacity isn't too bad.

Except, at worlds of fun, that dispatch time would be doubled, nearly tripled considering how bad ops have been in the last couple of seasons. I think the GP would eat up a sky rocket II, so it would be easily marketable. The rides look life fun! They got some airtime, hang time, and good forces. I'd be happy with it!

Accoridng to Screamscape the announcement is on September 12th. I really hope it includes some concept art of the new front gate.

Where did you see the date? It wasn't on Screamscape

You need to refresh. He put out the new update. Once you load it up, refresh it.

I feel 2018. That will make 3 new coasters in the state that season.

I would love to know how you got that number.

Sure I can walk you through it.

#1 is SDC which has been basically confirmed in every sense other than an official press release

#2 is SFSTL which will more than likely be adding their 4D Free Fly this year

#3 is WOF

I hope I made that easy enough for you to understand. If not I can break it down even more for you.

Have a great day.

I actually think this is a very reasonable, and likely estimation as well! WoF is the only one I'm slightly hesitant to expect a coaster from, mostly because they're a CF park not Cedar Point or formerly a Paramount park. But the S&S at SFStL seems very likely, and the SDC coaster is pretty much a certainty.

1. Nothing tells us wether SDC's is coming 2017 or 2018.

2. We thought for certain we were getting the Freespin in 2017, and look at what happens when we assume.

Well, I never thought for certain or assumed SFStL was getting it in 2017, just thought it seemed like a reasonable guess, but down at the bottom of the likely prediction I made. As for SDC, I agree that it'd be nice to see it in 2017, but the lack of any info recently seems to indicate maybe it's going to be 2018. It's kind of like the whole "RMC Streak in 2017 or 2018" debate regarding CP. I'm reluctantly in the camp for the later debut for both CP and SDC.

I highly doubt they're announcing a coaster

I do too. It's most likely a slide from WWK. I do, however think a new coaster will come sooner then we think.

I'm probably being overly optimistic but I feel 2018. That will make 3 new coasters in the state that season.

Just like we thought there would be three new coasters in Missouri in 2017 early this season.

There's a chance I might be going down to Worlds of Fun on October 14th and 15th (Friday night and Saturday). This would be my first visit to the park. Three questions I have:

-How busy should I expect the park to be on those days. Would it be worth getting Fast Lane?

-Are any of the coasters closed during Haunt?

-On Saturday, does the park close for an hour or so between daytime operation and Haunt?

1. Pretty busy. Definitely busier on Saturday than Friday. It depends on how long you plan on staying. I'd definitely plan on staying opening-close to experience everything. I'd actually go with Fright Lane if haunted houses are your thing, cause WOF sends small groups through their mazes at a time. But I wouldn't delay...I know a good number of nights last year were sold out. You should be fine hitting all of the rides during the daytime, but a Prowler night ride is mandatory. If you plan on going only at night, Fast Lane is your friend.

2. No, but on Saturdays most of the park's flat rides close at midnight. Fury of the Nile closes at 7.

3. No

Additionally, I'd recommend setting some time aside for Overlord's Awakening and Ed Alonzo's FunHouse, two of the best HAUNT shows in the Cedar Fair chain. Arrive about 30 min. early to both as Overlord has pre-scare ceremonies and FunHouse occasionally will hit capacity.

Sounds like you've been receiving a lot of poor info lately. SDC's coaster is coming in 2018.

No it was pretty certain that 2017 would be the Huss rides.

Impressive.

You impress easily.

My final predictions are small park upgrades for season pass holders and possibly the gate renderings! I guess a slide from Knotts/Wildwater Kingdom isn't too out of the picture like everyone is saying, but I feel like if it was happening, they would have announced it when they made the other announcements. We'll have to see...
