In 2025, Worlds of Fun is investing in its Africa-themed section, headlined by improvements to the popular Zambezi Zinger and Prowler roller coasters.

Zambezi Zinger's Iconic Spiral Lift Hill to be Enclosed

The signature spiral lift hill of Zambezi Zinger is undergoing a dramatic transformation. Construction is underway to fully enclose the lift hill, which takes riders more than seven stories high before launching them on a thrilling two-minute journey at speeds up to 45 mph while navigating low contour turns and a midcourse tunnel. This new addition will not only add to the ride experience but will also enhance operational efficiency.

Prowler Receives 400 Feet of Titan Track

Prowler, known for its terrain-hugging track layout, fast pace and airtime hills is getting more than 400 feet of new Titan Track this offseason.  This new track technology is commonly used to replace or upgrade sections of existing wooden coasters, but also in new ‘ground-up’ coasters, including a section of the park's Zambezi Zinger.

Mamba and Zulu Get Refreshed Look

Mamba slithers into the 2025 season donning a fresh coat of vibrant green paint, fitting nicely into the Africa-themed section’s landscape. The 27-year-old classic steel coaster begins with riders being lifted 205 ft. followed by a gravity-defying drop at speeds up to 75 mph before traversing a second 184-ft. hill and through a spiral helix and multiple airtime moments on a series of camelback hills.  Zulu, providing centrifugal forced thrills since 1979, also is getting a makeover. Departing from its previous yellow, Zulu’s ride vehicles will be repainted green, orange, redwood and yellow.

More Shade

Boomerang's queue line is being expanded and a new shade structure is being added. Fury of the Nile also will have a new shade structure.

Additional Park Updates

  • Over in East Asia, a shade structure is being added to the Spinning Dragons queue line.
  • Paradise Falls, the kids' water activity playground in Oceans of Fun, is being repainted this offseason.
  • Calypso Cafe' was renovated in 2024 and will make its debut this season.
  • Oceans of Fun guests will be able to enjoy new frozen alcoholic beverage options at 21° and Colder in 2025. The new variety of icy concoctions will be available in the waterpark's former Subway building.

Worlds of Fun officially opens for the season on Saturday, May 3. The best way to experience everything that Worlds of Fun has to offer in 2025 is with a Gold Pass that provides unlimited visits, free parking and special perks like discounts on food and merchandise.

This is interesting. I wonder if there will be any type of lighting or special effects inside or if it’s just going to be a dark box? - Either way, I’m excited to see how this turns out.

If they skimp out and I don't get a US-based equivalent of EuroMIR or Eurosat I'm going to be very disappointed.

So, no update to the ball crusher restraints,  huh?

At least there is truth in advertising.  No one can say they didn't warn you.

Does anyone know how enclosing the lift on ZZ is supposed to "enhance operational efficiency"?

The lift is drive tires. The ride cannot operate in rain. The roof will keep it dry.

Timber Wolf trains are being loaded onto the track. Not sure what this means. The park still hasn't released any information pertaining to the coaster.

I'm very confused about Timberwolf... Did they do any work on it? Was there a huge issue with it that needed to be addressed before it opened for the year and it was safer to just say it wouldn't open? Whatever it was, good on the park for getting it open for the last 2 months of the season.

We rode it last weekend while at Haunt. I watched a video of a POV from last year, and it doesn’t look to have any additional track work has been done since then.

It was actually running better than I recall on our first visit back in 2023. The trims were pretty light last weekend. It’s definitely rough but nothing unmanageable. It was running 1 train with the second on the transfer track. I’m not sure if they plan to use it before the end of the year, but I’d assume so.

My general understanding is that there were talks with several manufacturers about either a complete replacement or conversion of the ride. These plans may have shifted after the Q2 earning results were so poor for SF. If the new project has been called off, it’s possible they chose just to reopen it as is and do some essential track work in the off season but not much more. Perhaps some RMC 208 track but it doesn’t sound like it would be anything more than that.

Engineered as opposed to carpenters just winging it with the skill saw?

This is how The Beast was created.  I see no problems.

Engineered precut track is a high-precision, CNC-machined wooden roller coaster track developed by The Gravity Group. It uses pre-fabricated, vertically stacked wooden layers and specialized adhesive to create stronger, longer-lasting, and smoother-riding coasters than traditional hand-cut wood tracks. This technology enables faster retracking of aging wooden coasters.

The point is that i think the name is silly and implies that others dont plan out their trackwork.

The actual work they do is really good and has helped make older coasters way better.

Opening Weekend Notes

World’s of Fun opened for the season this weekend and we visited for pass holder preview on Friday night and yesterday afternoon. The weather has been perfect and the crowds mediums, so we enjoyed ourselves a lot. As a general statement, the park is mostly a dumpster fire at the moment. Last year’s opening weekend was great, nearly every ride open, multiple train operation, etc. This year, things are less than Enchanted.

- There seems to be a lot of local outcry around the change in manamgement. Enchanted Parks is really putting their logo on everything with a tacky “Under new management” verbiage underneath.
-They announced the removal of All Season Dining a week ago and the season long Chaperone policy the day of pass preview. There’s a lot of backlash on the socials from locals.
- Mamba didn’t opened until yesterday afternoon. Running one train with the second nowhere in sight. Can confirm that the trims are still off, so the return leg remains elite.
- Prowler’s non titan track is feeling some age, but it is running much faster than last year. The new titan track is actually at the end of the ride, near the 1/2 helix, and it just flies into the brakes now. Great to be back on it.
- Zinger’s trains are fresh back from GCI. It didn’t open at all Friday, and finally opened yesterday. It was running 2 trains but 1 was empty while they finish the required cycles.
- I would say that about 1/2 of the flat rides were closed on Friday night, and about 1/4 of them closed on Saturday

- Spinning Dragons and Detonator are no longer Fast Lane eligible.
- To their credit, most food, drink and retail locations were open.
- Security and ticketing was a breeze. Didn’t see any bottlenecks or scanning issues.
- Aesthetically the park looked nice, as always and there are some noticeable improvements.

On our way out yesterdays, they were handing out a comp ticket to each guest as an apology, which was nice.

I know that WOF is not the most frequently visited park by this group, but given the Enchanted takeover, thought that this might be worth sharing. I got the sense they had good intentions all around, but were really late in bringing back ride maintenance teams. They may also have underestimated just how sensitive guests have been to the ownership transitions (non thoosies included).
