I think Emerson summed it up best when he wrote "a foolish consistency of the hobgoblin of little minds." In other words, I don't believe that one side, left or right, "red" or "blue," has all the answers. The truth is most likely to be found somewhere in the middle.

Its funny, because the country usually prospered when the senate is controlled by one party, and the president is the other party, look at most of the Clinton years, republican controlled congress, it creates balance, and forces compromise

No, there's plenty of opinion/value judgments mixed in with your posts. You should learn the difference.

Did I say their wasn't opinions in my posts? Why do you think sometimes I wrote "in my opinion" or "I think." But I am giving facts to leave judgement to the reader. I know most of the time people's minds can't be changed.

I don't believe that one side is right either. Trust me I have many doubts and do not care for Republicans and Democrats. Before I'm for any Party I'm a conservative. Conservative's are not restricted to being Republicans. Many Republicans such as McCain have very "retarded" views on alot of things as do Democrats. I will agree with you that they're are grey area's in mostly everything. The only thing that is black and white, right and wrong is the word of God, the Bible. Mostly everything else has gray areas as apposed to just black and white.

But now when, and if, McCain is elected the Senate has the chance of becoming majorly Democratic, as it pretty much already is.

I'm all for McCain. I've just always liked him. From Obama's views on issues, there's just something that screams socialism.

To me, Obama is just a smooth talker with a teleprompter to crowds. When interviewed one on one, he doesn't know how to answer a simple question.

I think it's reidiculous that some actually believe that Obama is more experienced than McCain, like Wesley Clark. McCain's 26 yeas in Washington plus military service versus Obama's three years in the Senate. Wow, that's some real experience. He has no accomplisments as he's voted "present" the majority of the time he's been in Congress.

Remember, this is this guy who said there's 57 states and thinks inflating your tires will solve our energy problems.

Not a serious reply to the argument that Obama isn't experienced, but by far my favorite one: Daily Show

Calling someone's stances on an issue "retarded" gets your argument no where. Actually it sets it back a lot, probably not the best word choice. Your point may be perfectly valid, but you can't take it seriously when you throw stuff like that in there.

I really hope this is in jest. It's been a long, brutal campaign. I'm no Obama supporter, but it's obvious that this comment was made because the guy was exhausted. Of course he knows how many states there are.

Obama. The Republicans came up with no child left behind so they may never get my vote again.

Who comes up with a school plan that reduces the money schools get that are having trouble with their testing.

Last year you finished 15th in then NBA so we lowered your salary cap, and increased the Celtics. Great plan.

You are one of few here who gets it. It's not just about Obama's lack of experience, it's mainly, for me, what you said in your first sentence. Everything Obama wants to do "screams Socialism. " He and pretty much every Democrat want the government to have control of our lives. National Healthcare? Controlling our medical needs. Wanting to "meet" with enemy and terrorist leaders? Controlling our voice. Wanting to disarm America! Taking away the rights we have from the Constitution and making the whole country sitting ducks for any other country who hates or does not "favor" us. Saying that we can't do certain things (drive SUV's because we leave too big of a carbon footprint)? That's just controlling our life in general. Obama is basically the new, black(nothing against blacks), Vladimir Lenin.

I wasn't talking about someone on here having "retarded" views. I was talking about politicians and it's pretty clear to see that if you actually read what I wrote. Her's the exact text I wrote with "retarded" in it: 'Many Republicans such as McCain have very "retarded" views on alot of things as do Democrats.'

I don't know where you got that information from but it's totally false. If you look up the whole outline of the No Child Left Behind Act this is what it says about 'Incentives against low-performing students' : "Under the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) act schools that do not meet certain established standards are given additional funds in an attempt to boost scores."

I'm sorry, but I have a feeling that a teacher, an absolutely great one working in an otherwise underperforming school, knows a just a tad more about the ramifications of no child left behind than you do. Experiencing the outcomes of the policy rather than regurgitating pr information on it is a little more trustworthy.

Well, that was kind of rude. I fully get that Mccain has been in Washington longer, but that in no way makes him the better option if I do not like what either he or his party stands for.

dragsterfan420, let me just say that in your persistent arguing of politics, you're only becoming what so many Americans hate about politicians. Just a thought.

^^ Not that I'm eligible t to vote in the US, but if you were running, Scott, and PMW was prominent in your propoganda... I WOULD FIND A WAY.

Thank you, Lou! If.....no, scratch that....when I'm in office, my first official international visit will be to the UK.

PMW '08. I approve this message.

I wish British politics were as exciting as American politics.

I think that the American people will vote for change. Its happening here in the UK, The current party have been in power for around 12 years now and people are just sick of the way that things are bein run so are willing to switch alliences in order for change. Its not a bad thing at all.

I look forward to the election!

Annoying is a better way to describe it. They start campaigning way too early these days. The race really began last year and the media was covering it extensively even before that. It's like a never ending circus. Seems like as soon as they finish one presidential election you're already hearing about the next one in the news.

I agree, no Child Left Behind needs help, but your wrong, this was a REAL bipartisan effort, royally screwed by G.W. Bush, and Ted Kennedy

When No Child Left Behind (NCLB) first passed, it appeared to be a political masterstroke. It stands as one of Bush’s few genuinely bipartisan domestic-policy achievements, clearing the House by a 381 to 41 margin with more Democratic than Republican votes. Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) partnered with the White House to steer it through the Senate. The measure promised liberals increased spending and focus on minority-student achievement; it offered conservatives enhanced school choice and tougher standards. By the 2002 midterm elections, some polls found that Republicans had virtually erased the Democrats’ traditional advantage on education issues

My family is full of teachers, and they do not like NCLB, but the blame needs to be shared, because its the truth

The current attitude towards change in Scotland is exciting! But I agree with you Chrissie I just love sitting back, looking in and often laughing at what goes on in American politics.

Yes! Now this thread is becoming true politics.

Anyways I recently found out (I know its old news but I just found out, no TV here sorry folks) that Obama went into something involved with the army, didnt shake a single army mans hand, walked into a tent took a few publicity photos, then just left? Is this true?

Again sorry if this is old news or if its been posted on here for

1. I have no TV so don't get much new news.

2. I sometimes skip some posts (if this has been posted before then I skipped it.)

If this is true thats just harsh, I mean you may HATE the military (which you shouldn't because would you wanna be out there right now in there place.) But you should still atleast show some honor and respect for your country, not shaking their hands is like not being American. I respect the military here, even though it may not be the best solution in the world for some things, just what they go through is enough to gain your respect, and enough to shake theie hand (at the bare MINIMUM to do.)

EDIT: After finding more information about Obama out, and recent readings from this thread, it is actually enough evidence to change my vote (if I could vote that is) therefore I vote McCain, this thread has actually opened my eyes to some of the "lack of experience" that Obama has, and even though there are some flaws between the two, I agree now that McCain would be the better man to go into office. And after reading more articles on Obama/McCain I am positive McCain is the better man to go into office. And this isnt being biased against the army incident stated in the beginning of my post, it is from reading articles in the Orlando Sentinel about the debate going on showing the true colors of both candidates. I'll post more late on the pro's/con's of each candidate, and what made me decide to switch my vote.

Completely not true. My grandmother forwarded me the email that your story comes from. I took the time to write her a response because I was sick of her sending me crap via email. THe following was taken from my response.

The story is this, apperently a certain CPT Jeffrey S. Porter sent out an email to relatives that said that on a visit to Afghanistan, Obama basically snubbed all the service men and woman to meet with a captain and take publicity shots playing basketball.

The only problem is that it's simply not true.

He actually later rescinded his email with the following:

“I am writing this to ask that you delete my email and not forward it. After checking my sources, information that was put out in my email was wrong.”

Here is the army’s official spokesperson talking about the email:

"These comments are inappropriate and factually incorrect," said Bagram

spokeswoman Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, “Obama didn't play basketball at Bagram or visit the Clamshell. Home-state troops were invited to meet him, but his arrival was kept secret for security reasons. We were a bit delayed ... as he took time to shake hands, speak to troops and pose for photographs,"

I took all the quotes from www.nydailynews.com.

There is also additional information at snopes where there are videos of Obama meeting soldiers and reports from other soldiers (who included pictures) who actually met him.

Juxtapose:

HUSSEIN'S VISIT TO AFGHANISTAN

with

As you know I am not a very political person.

Because there's no politics in calling Obama "Hussein". This kindergarten crap makes me want to lose my lunch.

I'm staying open minded until election day. I feel like I will have a better decision on my hands if I follow both candidates equally, tally the pros and cons before I vote and make my decision in November. To make my decision now, IMO, will hinder my vote. I may like Obama now, but later on I may like McCain.

Ok, here is the difference. If Obama is elected we are going to get more government and higher taxes. If McCain is elected we are going to get more government and higher taxes.

I'm voting for BeamerBoy!
