Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Hello,

I will be visiting the park next week from Chicago. I was wondering if you guys had any advice on how to get the most out of my day there? Any really cool things to see or do at the park? What order should I hit the rides in to get the most out of my day there?

Thank you.

Outside of the coasters, I would suggest watching one of the many great shows SFA has to offer. I would also suggest that you try to get to Gotham City and hit Batwing at 12:00 because it does not open with the rest of the park.

Depends on when you get there, and whether or not you are doing the waterpark.

No waterpark, with flats: Mardi Gras section -- Rajin Cajin (biggest line most of the time; get it early), flyers, Wild One, drop, fireball, zinger. Gotham -- Jokers, Wonder Woman, Superman, then Batwing (should be open by then). Next, skip Chesapeake ( I'll tell you why shortly). Go to Coyote's Creek -- ride the cows and Mind Eraser.

Next, catch EFX 3.0 (Must see) at 1 or 130, can't remember the time. Ride 'the splash boat'; always forget the name of it.

Go back to Coyote's Creek to ride the rapids (it may be uncomfortable to watch the show if you get wet before). Close walk.

Next, go back to Chesapeake to ride Roar. At this point, figure out what you want to reride, because all that is left is Apocalypse. Riding it may ruin the rest of your coaster riding day. Enjoy the great theming and soundtrack, then pass on it. Don't say that I didn't warn you. Need the credit, then have at. Ride the second row.

After the above, get the stunt show in. It is very good. I believe that they have 3 times. Try to squeeze in the Mardi Gras show in someplace. I think it only runs at 3. The Coyote Creek show is alright. When it is time to eat, go there. The block party show is very good. It's at 6.

Ride the scrambler on the way out.

Waterpark?: Do that first, then do above, except flip the Mardi Gras section with Gotham.

Have kids?: There are 2 sections that are 2 different locations. Plan accordingly.

If you 'really ' do the park with a couple of rerides, you'll be there 5 hours or so on the weekend. The week? Maybe 2 1/2-3. Depends on show times. Waterpark=entire day.

I've never seen any of the shows at SFA although stumbled upon the great band in Mardi Gras a couple weeks ago. What's EFX and where is it? Is the stunt show the same thing as the pirate show I was hearing about a few pages back?

WWLoT was not open today as originally advertised. They were testing and still adding plants, sod, the entrance decorations, etc... They had a solid dozen people working. If they wanted this thing ready they could have. Park staff directing people through Whistle Stop said they are still shooting for an unveiling on Tuesday. Wonder Woman face character was circulating.

Season Pass Holder event was OK. We arrived at 9 AM when the parking lot was set to open with a line quickly behind us. By the time the 9:30 entrance arrived the gold pass line (the only line open) was all the way to the parking lot, curved to the Lost and Found building and all the way in front of that building. It was already getting hot.

We walked to WW and then detoured to Superman. Three rides without exiting and the first with a train all to ourselves was decent. Batman was not running all day it seemed. Joker had a decent line inside the loading pavilion but it went quick, it seemed many of the early entrants went there first. By the time we exited the regular 10:30 open happened.

With the pass holder picnic set for 12:30 we grabbed a snack off the dining pass. The 12:00 registration line was back past the Batmobile at 12:30. We hopped on Penguin which had the water drips off the crossbeams at the end turned on. I prefer those on as opposed to the spitting penguins while you wait to be unloaded. We decided that waiting in a line for the all you can eat burgers, dogs, pasta made no sense and just grabbed regular lunch. We left around 1:30 and the lot and entrance was pretty full.

- Ride OPs on Rodeo were just slow and dense

+ New paint on the Fireball logo in front of the ride

+ New paint on the signs inside Roar

+ A lot of new wood trim and decking repair throughout the park

They put up a pretty cool entrance for WW. I'll post tonight. The lot was literally filled to the brim. I got there at 1:30, and left at around 5:30. Batwing did open. I liked the picnic. All you can eat ice cream=win. No lines for food when I was there. Hot dog buns were terrible, but everything else was good.

I would like to say that I'm appalled at the park's inability to have this ride ready on schedule! This isn't a new coaster for crying out loud. Tower swing rides should be fairly quick and easy to install. All three of the new Joker 4D coasters are already up and running, and those are far more complicated installations. And now SFA is telling us they can't make their target date with a Funtime Starflyer!?

We'll all get over it by Tuesday. Probably waited for the entrance pieces...lol. Pics below.

Looking back at my other pictures I do not see anything that looks like the entrance pieces. You could be right.

WWLotT is listed at 242' with Superman at 208'.

I third that...frankly, I'd rather have had a Justice League dark ride there eventually...basically fill the gap between the train tracks and Blizzard River and make the whole area seem less barren...aside from the area between Superman and Batwing...I don't think that area can be helped.

I'm torn on this ride's location. Anything they add to the back of the park to make it less of a desolate wasteland is a good thing but at the same time, this would have been a very popular Holiday in the Park ride.

^ agreed

^ Wonder Woman really looks good! Is it now the tallest ride in the park?

Yup cause they got the extension awhile ago to increase it over 200ft

I applied for a job at SFA for a group sales manager back in 2014.

During my second group interview. The team told me they worked with the city to have a height restrictions lifted above 200 feet, extension of hours operations. The man who did my one on one told me about how they wanted to add a star flyer.

. I was expecting this announcement of WW years ago. I Didn't expect it to be this long to build it.

Your right it amazes me there are several top tier rides in the back of the park; yet no supporting infrastructure like, places to eat, gift shops, BATHROOMS, etc.

Lol, they have a gift shop down there. They had a turkey leg place too.

Oh good so when I'm done eating a nastyass Six Flags turkey leg I can just sh*t in my pants since there is nowhere else to go back there.

Oh ok so we're back to just a gift shop? We're talking about Supermans gift shop right?

What is to the left of when you come out from under Wild One near that bathroom? Was it a funnel cake place? Something else there? And that handful of sorry looking game booths. Oh man this park. I was just there in November and its like my brain is trying to block the memories.
