Note: Searched for this, didn't come up with anything. Even looked in the "Your favorite _____" thread.

Anyway, i was wondering today as i was listening to some of my awesome music who every one's favorite guitarists was. So i decided to conduct a poll, and here it is. I've tried to put in a mix of old and newer guitarists, and most of them on the list come from Rolling Stone and other magazines top guitarists.

I voted for Mark Knopfler by the way.

I personally can't get enough of Robert Randolph. The guy is just unbelievable on the pedal steel guitar. I've seen my share of concerts, but nothing has ever come close to being as amazing as his.

Can much appreciate everybody in the list, but Big Bad Moon, Satch Boogie, and Summer Song are some of my faves.

No Angus Young, Gary Hoey, Steve Vai, Ted Nugent, Eric Johnson, Zack Wylde, Jim Burton, or Dimebag Darrell? No Randy Rhoads?!

I've been a huge fan of Joe Satriani since his Surfing With the Alien days.

Some people "do" music, this guy "is" music IMO:

Eric Johnson also gets an honorable mention:

One more for good measure:

Robert Randolph & The Family Band

Oops, totally forgot about Angus Young and Eric Johnson. The rest, in my opinion, i would consider as other. I tried to edit my post so i could put Eric and Angus in, but it wouldn't let me change the poll.

No worries friend. Those just came to mind, and this wasn't intended to be an all-inclusive poll of every notable guitarist ever.

Ah, brought back some good memories of my heros from the 80's and 90's. Now where did I put my keytar...

Tom Morello, who dosent like RATM.

I agree.

Since I could only vote for one, I picked Tom Morello, but I would have also picked: Jimmy Page, Slash, Johnny Ramone, Tony Iommi, and David Gilmour.

^ Apparently Prince is down with the Red Hat Ladies now. Indeed, he continues to be underrated.

Also, I'd rather see every living artist mentioned take the poll themselves. Now that would be interesting. As for me, I'll go with Hendrix.

I'd like to put in a plug for Blue Oyster Cult's Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser. He was always that band's secret weapon. Go, go Godzilla!

Some of my favorite artists on that list.

Jimi has some great stuff, of course.

I'm a big fan of Santana, always love to hear him. He makes Chad Kroeger sound good!

I've always loved Pete Townsend.

BB King does great blues, especially when accompanied with Eric Clapton.

Eddie is original with has tapping, I have respect.

I love Tony Iommi! Old school metal rocks!

Tom Morello is alright, his scratching sounds cool...but I couldn't listen to him over and over...

I'm also a fan of:

-Zakk Wylde

-Synyster Gates

-Tom Petty

And Malcom Young is the best rhythm guitarist, IMO.

Mark Termonti - Alter Bridge is someone I listen to a lot at the moment.

For emotiveness Clapton and Santana.

For wizardry with a good ear for a tune, Van Halen & Satriani.

For innovation and kicking ass, Tom Morello.

I think Nigel Tufnell was left off the list.

Oh yeah, best guy who looks like a sheila who pulls top roots, Prince.

-Synyster Gates

Go Avenged Sevenfold! Too bad he isn't recognized as much because they aren't exactly "mainstream"-friendly.

Of ones not on the list, I would like to tip my hat to:

Chuck Berry--He made the electric guitar the iconic instrument of a rock band.

Gary Rossington / Allen Collins--Free Bird. 'Nuff Said.

Duane Allman--#2 on Rolling Stone's list, and yes, I loved them *before* "Jessica" was popularized via GH3 (though that wasn't Duane).

Barry Goudreau--One of Boston's main men. "Foreplay/Long Time" is my favorite intro ever (all 2:45 of it)

Don Felder--Eagles. "Hotel California" is my favorite solo of all time.

And ones already mentioned (namely Kirt Hammet and Eric Johnson).

On the list, I'd say the best is easily Jimi. My favorite, though, is Gilmour. I could listen to "Comfortably Numb" for hours on end. Or Clapton. But I'll go Gilmour. He could sing well, too. Clapton...well...he *tried* to sing too...

^^ Dragonforce are absolutely terrible, they can't even 0play there own stuff. And a lot of it only sounds awesome because of the synthesizers the put through the guitars. Or so i'm told..
