belo777
Hahaha, certainly coaster hyperbole no doubt with the 900foot Skyrush. That picture will be on the map cover no doubt. The placement of attractions doesn't really matter. The ad gets the point across. Showing Hershey has family rides(Kissing Tower and Carousel) Showing they have a waterpark(The Shore, Intercoastal Waterway, and Coastline Plunge) Then, showing coasters(Comet, and of course, Skyrush) This will be the star of advertising until after the ride is built. Thus why I call it the "final rendering" Considering Hershey won't be releasing any more renderings that aren't actual images(based off their history) And, history repeats itself. kunpc1
Hmmm... Very interesting. Very curious as to the restraint they'll be using. I'm making my first trip to Hershey this summer and can't wait to get on this! The more construction/progress I see, the more excited I get. I know some don't like the look of the lift, but it sure is a massive, impressive structure.
coasterfreak101
My point is that with an advertisement that clearly changes the placement and scale of attractions in the park (which is advertisement, we all know that), you can't really assume that the restraints pictured are 100% accurate. Heck, you can hardly even assume that from real concept art half the time.
belo777
Like I said, i'm mainly basing it off Hershey's history making the rendering(like the one we're discussing) very accurate. We'll find out for sure soon enough when trains arrive.
billybobjoebob
all american thrills has some good pictures from this weekend. I never really noticed until now how good comet looks in the snow.
Justice
I'll add my 2 cents.... The train overview is consistant with the lap bar system shown in the artsy-fartsy concept art (minus the colors). The other rendering doesn't at all look professional (excuse me if it is), and seems like it may be a last minute change if it is true.
BkkMan13
Pretty interesting looking seating on this thing, I actually somehow thought that it was going to have basically the same type of trains/cars/seats as the ones on B&M Wingriders. I'm also kinda surprised that this thing doesn't have any inversions. but anyhoo I can't wait to ride this thing this summer! And i kinda wish it did go as high as that art shows
cal1br3tto
Anyone recall what was said at East Coast Bash? I honestly can't remember if they told us they had a choice they were confident in or if they were still unsure.
Chroniq
I'm totally speculating, but it's beautiful weather on the east coast today with low winds as well. Could Skyrush be topped out today?? Edit: Maybe not today, but HersheyParks twitter account is saying sometime this week "Kathleen Burrows @HersheyparkPR Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Sun is shining. Hope to have Skyrush Top Hat installed this week."
belo777
The capping will most likely happen tomorrow.
Schotcher
I must admit, that first drop looks less than 85*.
belo777
It's not. Seeing it in person you can definitely see the point where it drops 85*
eddie200330
It looks to be more "rolling" than actually straight track. I am thinking this might make for a more floater type falling than the abrupt slam into the restraint airtime on most 1st drops.
galindoverhere
That looks like an 85 degree angle to me...
belo777
I agree. It does reach an 85* angle. The entire way? No, obviously.
coasterfreak101
It's the angle of the picture, come on now.
Schotcher
Even in other pictures it looks less than 85 to me. Not by much though. It's probably just me though.
chickenbowl
^It's definitely you, cause that's for sure 5 degrees off vertical. I think it looks exactly the same angle as i305 (which is also 85*). I'm really looking forward to the rest of this lift coming together. With a 17.73 mph (26 ft/s) lift speed, this will be flying over that hill and will definitely have some airtime.
coastercrazy 9
It's an Intamin lift and drop, of course there will be airtime!

Schotcher
Wow. I stand corrected (It's definitely 85*).
coasterfreak101
So is today the day for the topping-off?
FaithnotForgotten
No they still have to put up another piece of the lift structure, the crest of the lift is going to take a whole day to put up.
coasterfreak101
There was talk about it happening today, that's why I was asking. They look to be at the point where once they start, they can't stop. So they'll have to pick a day and go for it. I remember I305 being topped out in the pitch dark a few years ago, so I just wonder when they'll do it for Skyrush.
HowieP
Only been to Hersheypark once in my life (1995) and they only had four coasters at that time (Comet, sooperdooperlooper, Sidewinder, Trailblazer) and now they have a plethora of coasters. I need to get my butt back out to Hershey, Pennsylvania quick! Skyrush looks great!
