Angry_Gumball
^^I know, right? Why don't GP say that Flight Deck is just an inverted Vortex? GS will be nothing like Grizzly!
Swornenemy
^^ Exactly, gold striker will be fast and fun. Grizzly is slow boring painful and a tight squeeze into the trains now that a belt holds the lap bar in place.
jray21
That's a lot of wood! It's coming along great. I still can't believe CGA is finally getting a new coaster!
Angry_Gumball
^My last time at the Global Winter Wonderland event, reality kicked in when I was riding the swings. Sure I've been seeing the coaster grow, went to the media event, and shot 100s of photos of this but when I was riding the swings that night, my brain clicked in and thought "Wow, we're actually getting a new coaster!" I had this silly grin the entire ride, each time I whizzed by the midway turn and saw the partial lift off in the distance...the whole area just looked like something I had never seen before! Â Speaking of Gold Striker, I had a dream last week that we were all out at the park (the usual group of TPR members/CGA group) and Gold Striker's queue was all set up. People were all in line waiting for it to open and it turned out that they had to demolish the Prudential turn and move it over to the other side of Extreme Skyflyer (White Water Falls was not present). That meant 2 more bunny hills were to be added en route to the turn and out of it. It was moved due to excessive noise levels during testing. Other odd moment in the dream: All the rides were breaking down and both Grizzly and Vortex just reversed the train back down the lift (much like an Invertigo returning to the station). Â Oh, to add to the photos, this image was found via Instagram, from down at ground level. We can clearly see the cement wall that's come up around the midway turn. Angry_Gumball
Via Instagram, CGA posted this. I'm going to say that this will be the future home of Subway. Took me forever to find which building it was. Lets see if you can find it
JJnCFL
Rolercstrluvr & I stopped by the area a bit to check out Gold Striker progress & other park happenings, including getting different shots of the park from several different locations, such as from the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail to the new Santa Clara Parking Garage across the street from the stadium which is now open. We literally walked almost the entire perimeter of the park and got a good workout. Also got to check out the 49ers Stadium which is moving along great. Some news to report: more of GS final bents are being worked on and getting installed, the front gate ticket booths were getting a fresh coat of paint from top to bottom, majority of the parking lot light fixtures with the faded letters have been taken out & and more spray paint markings have extended all the way to the disabled lot, most likely the parking lot maybe getting a major overhaul is my best guess. Here's a few quick pics from my phone to tie you all over, will do a large update when I get home later from pics from my Nikon! Should be fast too! Â What's most astounding is Ive seen aerial pics of CGA....how can anything be fit in there? Let alone a massive wood coaster. I can't wait to see just how it's gunna work. Angry_Gumball
This has been a very 'golden' week and I'm very happy to see that things seem to be picking up after what seemed to be a screeching halt. Â CGA posted another pic in which I almost didn't even recognize the area! Glad to see the parking structure next door will be completely obscured by GS's lift! Here it is Wonder if carousel souvenirs is going to be converted to a photo booth and GS gift shop.

XYZ
Amazing photo update. Â From this photo, it looks like Celebration Swings will be in between two big coaster turns. Gold Striker's "midway turn" looks kind of like a wooden version of Vortex's midway turn. Â
Blue Fire Guy
Amazing update Jeff! Intaman
I really like this addition by Cedar Fair. Now, if CF could install some better woodies at their other parks.
Double0Kevin
^ They Have been for the past few years. Remeber Renegade at Vallyfair and Prowler at Worlds of Fun? They've been slowly putting them in the parks that need them most. Other parks have wooden coasters that, though possibly disliked by enthusiasts, are still very popular. Â Long as they don't touch Blue Streak! Mean Streak has ironically become the mild streak...it was kinda sucky before but at least intense, now it's blah. That thing needs the RMC make over. And I thought we were pretty bad with our descriptions and conversations out at the park (our little CGA group has had some very interesting conversations to say the least ).
