Flagg O'Dim
New for 2012: 16-foot high staircase for Grizzly: http://smartpermit.santaclaraca.gov/tm_bin/tmw_cmd.pl?tmw_cmd=StatusViewCase&shl_caseno=BLD2012-28093
XYZ
The current staircases for the Grizzly seemed fine.
Tmcdllr
I guess that makes sense, the current staircase is worn, the wood has seen better days. Maybe they had to replace it because of safety concearns due to its condition. Eh, whatever.
Angry_Gumball
So, I'm assuming that Grizz will now just have a 16' staircase as opposed to the longer, windy ramp leading up to the station, meaning more switchbacks below? I guess we'll see next weekend; I'm planning on being there and enjoy the kick off of the coaster season for me.
invisibleinthedark
One week till the beginning of the season. Anyone else going to be there opening day?

Not the reason behind it, you'll have to wait until opening to find out (No idea if half of what I wrote has any typos, seems this ad placement covers half of my reply... Angry_Gumball
Weather-wise, it's not looking too good for this weekend...got rain beginning Thursday, spreading into the weekend and into next week...Come on Mother Nature, you had all winter to give us rain but no...you decide to give us rain when it's time for us to start planning outdoor activities. Being opening day with light crowds and the amount of rain to come, I'm not sure how park operations are going to be (as in possibility of closing prematurely). I do know/am aware of going down to single train operation and the increased technical difficulties...and last I knew/experienced, CGA made their best efforts to keep rides running when it was raining and only had to stop (or did they) when it got too heavy. I just remember the unique experiences riding Drop Tower, Logger's Run, and Invertigo while it was pouring rain...and finally decided to take shelter on the carousel. All I can do is hope that Sunday will be a 'pause' between storms or the 60% rain will slim down to even 10-20%.
CoasterGuy06
My first thought about the new staircase is for Fast Lane. Kings Island's GM recently tweeted a picture of the footers for a Fast Lane staircase for their Vortex, so I could see other CF parks adding new staircases to accommodate the program. Nibbler
Now that it's been officially announced I can go ahead and say that yes- the park is running the fastlane program, more info can be found here: www.cagreatamerica.com/what-s-new/new-fast-lane
cal1br3tto
Weren't we discussing whether this would work well on Psycho Mouse? Or was that just me? Anyway, it's on the list. Line skipping is offered on some other wild mice, so I guess it's not such a big deal after all.
Double0Kevin
I can't honestly remember a time where this service was really needed. CGA's lines really don't get that bad, maybe Flight Deck, Vortex and Demon... Otherwise most the rides are quick lines. Invertigo would have benefitted but alas it was heartlessly stolen from us. Thunderhead
^The more about uniformity. Kings Dominon doesn't NEED a Windseeker or Dinosaurs Alive! but Cedar Fair likes all the parks to have the same things.
cal1br3tto
I've certainly had great luck with short lines at CGA, made all the more surprising by moderate-to-long wait times at SFDK the very next day. But I'm always glad to see the option available just in case.
Angry_Gumball
I'm curious to see how the Fast Lane performs. I guess those spontaneous busy summer days would be a good reason...plus a single day non pass holder would be most likely to do this. The days I visit however only seem to have 30 minute waits. And they took the rain out of Sunday!
RAWKIN_coaster38
Would fast-passes still be sold during Haunt? From the TRs I've seen, it looks like all the coasters get long lines during that season!
B.A.B
If Vortex leaves, I wonder if it will be relocated or scraped.
XYZ
If Vortex leaves, I wonder if it will be relocated or scraped. It would go to Dorney Park.
B.A.B
It would go to Dorney Park. Haha, I was wondering because I could see this being Kings Island's "new" coaster for 2013 or something. Edited March 21, 2012 by B.A.B
Ace Of Spades
If Vortex leaves, I wonder if it will be relocated or scraped. It would go to Dorney Park. Also known as Dick Kinzel's attic.

Tmcdllr
Take out ANOTHER coaster? Let's not do that until one or two get put back in first.
robman
I think its a great idea for the Fast Lane to be implemented into all of the Cedar Fair parks. Im not sure how busy the park can get during the summer because I tend to go on the off days. I think the system will be awesome during Haunt especially if they have Fright Lane, that would help a lot also.
Angry_Gumball
Wait...why would they want to pull out Vortex? Sure, it's not a perfect ride and it could use some TLC (let's see how she runs on opening day) but it's a fun, snappy little coaster. How many B&Ms whip you around like that anyway compared to gently rocking and tossing you about?
