CHICAGO (Reuters) - A Chicago tavern said on Thursday it will begin selling chicken wings coated in one of the world's hottest peppers -- a dish so hot that patrons first have to sign a waiver agreeing not to sue for injuries.

Jake Melnick's Corner Tap said the wings made with Red Savina pepper will be served with an alarm bell for patrons to summon waiters with sour cream, milk sugar and white bread if things get out of hand.

Levy Restaurants, which owns the tavern, said its chef d'Cuisine Robin Rosenberg had been working on the concept for years but was never sure he'd be able to serve it.

"This isn't the right sauce for everyone, but for someone out there, this is going to be absolute heaven. Of course, for a handful of people, it's going to be hell," he said.

I think TPR needs to do a side trip next time they are in Chicago.

It's not a question of whether or not you can eat them.

It's why would you want to put up with the pain?

I like hot wings, but I've stopped getting suicide wings. I'd rather enjoy the wings, instead of getting something so hot that it bleaches your taste buds in two minutes.

It's kind of like riding a bigger and rougher coaster than what you normally tolerate. It's really for some bragging rights and a funny story.

The fact Robb won the Blazin challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings is excellent. That stuff about killed me and I do pretty well with spicy food. Remember those flash fires that jump all over the room in the school fire safety films? That's what happens in your mouth with Blazin in about 2 minutes.

Like you, I got smart and backed off and only got snarky once in a while.

If anyone has a shot at that challenge it's Robb. More power to him, and please get it on tape.

This reminds me of the Saturday Night Live sketch with Christan Slater, sometime during the early 90s. He had to work so hard to get the Super Hot wings (sign waivers, etc.) only to get his head blown up by the Hot wings.

I, on the other hand, will most definately stay away from those wings!

^ What kind of hot sauce?

I mean, I like Blazin' wings and Atomic wings from Quaker Steak, but those are made from standard Habenero peppers, which are almost too hot to eat at around 300,000 Scoville units, and the Red Savina Habenero is cranking a whopping 577,000! That's INSANE.

I get hot sauces that rank about 10 times hotter then Tabasco and such. Tiger sauce is a favorite but I get "Papa's Moonshine" and some Blair's. Blair's has the hottest legal hot sauce called N16..16 million on the Scouval scale. Not on spelling , so forgive me on that. The Blairs sauce is the hottest for it and its the highest on the S-scale its pure capsicum crystals. Its also $320 for a bottle. Normally though I drink a huge variety.

^ I remember the sauce that got me hooked was Mad Dog Inferno. It's got an excellent taste and a massive bite. At the time I bought it, it was the hottest you could buy (that was my senior year of HS...) and I actually got it taken away and threatened with a saturday because I let someone try it at lunch, and they looked at that as a "threat"...??

I don't have any right now, but I really need to get into some new sauces. Do you know of any good places online to buy?

I have heard about these wings and I would like to try them. Or at least try something made with this pepper.

I have to be honest, though, as much as I have never had a problem eating something where someone says "it's so hot you'll never be able to eat it" I really am not much into "heat for the sake of heat." (although I did do the BWW Blazin' wing challenge in about 2 minutes!)

Anyone who has had my Fire Sauce wings can tell you that while, yes it is VERY hot, and it does make grown men cry, it's nowhere near the hottest sauce you'll ever have.

I prefer a good mix of heat and flavor. IMO a sauce that's ONLY purpose is to have intense heat is like going on Top Thrill Dragster. Sure it goes fast and tall, but beyond that, it does nothing else.

But still, I'd love to try these.
