larrygator Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 ^Do you have to register with a city when you visit or only if you live there?
terrancew_hod Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I'd love to see a ride based on the new movie. Seriously. How awesome would a ride based on kidnapping the president to find a book of secrets be? Sally could build it. Shoot the kidnappers... Terry
cfc Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I think Disney needs a "My Dinner with Andre" restaurant--or maybe a "My Breakfast with Blassie" coffee shop.
Moose Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I'd love to see a ride based on the new movie. Seriously. How awesome would a ride based on kidnapping the president to find a book of secrets be? Sally could build it. Shoot the kidnappers... Terry I'd rather shoot Cage. I cannot stand him as an actor.
BarryH Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 No, we must have "High School Musical: The Ride" first!
RCFreak Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 ^Would Juliana enjoy it? AHHHHH CREEPY!!! I think it could work, MGM could finally have a Indiana Jones type ride while not getting rid of that stage show they like so much there.
BeemerBoy Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Or they could just have a ride that encompasses his entire body of work. That way, any audio-animatronic of him could just be the same in every scene throughout the ride.
cfc Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 ^I look forward to the AA scenes from "Wild at Heart"--particularly Laura Dern.
RIP Psyclone Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 ^Do you have to register with a city when you visit or only if you live there? You're a funny guy, Larry.
freestylenut Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I doubt Disney is going to theme a ride after such a minor movie franchise. You mean like Twister and Earthquake deserve their own Rides/attractions? Does anyone even remember Earthquake? And in quite a few years, many can argue Aerosmith doesn't deserve their own Coaster either...but that can easily be re-themed.
RIP Psyclone Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 ^When they're dead it would be a little weird to see them supposedly live in studio.
ECZenith Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 While I enjoyed the first movie, have yet to see the sequel, I'm willing to bet an attraction based off National Treasure is extremely unlikely. Indiana Jones is somewhat similar to National Treasure and I don't believe WDI has ever taken a suggestion from an actor for the design of a new attraction. Good luck, Mr. Cage I would love to see a National Treasure ride, I just don't think it's too likely it'll happen.
bdstrom Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 My vote is NO. The reason is Nicholas Cage is probably one of the ugliest actor I've known and he can't act, period. I'd go with High School High Musical: The Ride over Nicholas Cage's ride!
PURE Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 story.malaysiasun.com/index.php/ct/9/cid/f825b92e19df636a/id/310158/cs/1/ Cage begs Disney for 'National Treasure' theme park ride Malaysia Sun Tuesday 18th December, 2007 (ANI) Washington, Dec 18 : 'City Of Angels' star Nicolas Cage wants Disneyland to build a new ride based on the actor's movie franchise National Treasure. The 43-year-old star is a huge fan of theme parks and has a desire for his own rollercoaster. Disney produced 'National Treasure' and new sequel 'Book of Secrets' and Cage is hopeful that they will grant him his wish. "My biggest thrill would be if Disney was so happy with the movie that they gave it a ride," Contact music quoted Cage, as saying. "Because I love amusement parks and I love Disneyland and I would love to see a National Treasure ride. That would be a dream come true for me." I don't see why the article calls this "begging." He said it's his biggest thrill. He isn't quoted saying "Pleeeeeese make this a ride Disney! PUH-LEEEESE!" Regardless, the movie doesn't need its own ride.
sfmmrules! Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 That would be so cool. I love the National Treasure films. Disney can make it like an Indiana Jones/Revenge Of The Mummy type ride. I can picture a pyramid with a coaster like the Mummy & the story is your looking for the Book Of Secrets! It could really work! It should be Disneylands next big E-Ticket Attraction. I can't wait.
ECZenith Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 ^ But Disneyland already has an Indiana Jones e ticket and with all the new DCA rides on the way and projects on the back burner for DL (Star Tours 2, new Peoplemover, etc.) it's nothing to get your hopes up about, unfortunately.
alpengeist04 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 My vote is NO. The reason is Nicholas Cage is probably one of the ugliest actor I've known and he can't act, period. I'd go with High School High Musical: The Ride over Nicholas Cage's ride! God help us if they ever put in a High School Musical ride. I'll take a Indy or National Treasure ride for WDW/MGM, thank you.
RIP Psyclone Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 High School Musical is really Disney's worst franchise ever. I was hoping Vanessa Hudgens' nude pics would have been the end, but noooooooo. Walt Disney would have fired her, no question.
the sound Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 ^^ "Ride a coaster whilst singing along to the crap songs of a really boring and pointless movie!" The only thing is, it would probably be really popular, a lot of people really like those movies. I doubt Disney is going to theme a ride after such a minor movie franchise. Not only that, but the movie is really bad and boring anyway.
sixflagsguy5 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I think that it wouldn't be a good idea, because the movie will probably only be popular for a short amount of time. It's not a classic movie that people will watch often years from now, it's just a movie that kids like. I kind of like the movie, but it's unbearably lame at many parts. Basically my summary of the movie is a guy goes around feeling random landmarks with his hands and somehow understands where to go next. Maybe if he buys the ride for them they'll add it. I doubt they'll build a ride just because a rich actor decided that he wants a coaster.
coolhandluke Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 National Treasure grossed $347.5 million. And it has a highly anticipated sequel. Haunted Mansion grossed $106.something million. No sequel. I doubt Disney is going to theme a ride after such a minor movie franchise. Define "minor"...? Yeah, it's recent, and it might lose some popularity along the way, but it isn't vital that a ride like that have a strong connection to the movie. IMO, a ride about exploring American landmarks as maps for treasure, regardless of movie connections, would be popular. In the beginning, it would get hype because of the link to the movie. If the movie fades, the ride still stays popular because of the interesting concept/plot. My thoughts...
coasterdude28 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets last night at a pre-screening. I could definatley see a heavily themed Disney ride based off of the movies. There are so many things that could be done relating to the movie. The ending of Book of Secrets would make for a very intense ride experience.
ECZenith Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I suppose you could always slap down a Raging Spirits clone and put a couple of movie vehicles in the queue. Hey it worked for Paris' Indy.
larrygator Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 High School Musical is really Disney's worst franchise ever. How are you defining worst franchise? You do realize that pretty much every pre-teen girl in the country loves High School Musical and buys pretty much anything associated with the movie. If you don't enjoy the movie, that's fine since you are not in the target audience. However, movie studios equate success with profits and HSM certainly rakes in the bucks. For the record, I have never seen HSM nor do I plan but my 10 year old neice loves it and my best friend's daughters watch it repeatedly. Therefore, I have purchased HSM merchandise for them.
